I THOUGHT we had a winner on Sunday with eight holes to go but Bubba Watson decided to play in the sand over the remaining holes and lost out to, of all people Dustin Johnston. Those who follow this column know I’m a fan of big DJ but stupidly left him out last week.
The PGA Tour moves to Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead) in Palm Harbour, Florida, for the Valspar Championship. It's not a great field but there could be some good pickings.
WIth two T13 in Europe and a T4 last week at the WGC Henrik Stenson has had a not too shabby start to the year. He looked good at the weekend and although this is his first start at Copperhead he has an excellent chance.
His driving accuracy on both Tours is around 66% and GIR on the European Tour is 83.89% (72.22 PGAT) although his putting could be better.
Like the look of Louis Oosthuizen here. On the European Tour he’s had two top-10 finishes and on the PGA Tour two top 15. His putting has always been steady around the 29 mark and his GIR this year is around 70%. Although his driving accuracy isn’t great his top-six finish last week warrants an each-way bet.
I was going to ask if anyone had a good reason for me picking Lee Westwood then I look at his results this season. On the European Tour he’s had two top-10s and on the PGA Tour three top 15s. His GIR on both Tours is round the 70% mark while average putts are around 28-29. Paddy Power are paying top six so if you can get him at a good price he's well worth a punt.
Jaco Van Zyl might be well worth a punt at the Tshwane Open at the Pretoria Country Club. He seems to have come alive since returning to home soil with a T6 last week and a T2 at the Joburg. He has broken par in his last eight rounds on the European Tour and is 29 under par. Solid eachway I think.

Jim Fuyrk ew at 20/1 won here in 2010 and has always been consistent around this course, am having a few quid on him first round leader also as it always seems to be 1 poor round letting him down
Henrik Stenson 16/1 this course needs a good ball striker and you got one in Stenson, impressive comeback game last week for the Swede finished 4th
Adam Scott 14/1 same reason as Stenson good striker of ball, impressive start to his season
