Ruben Amorim next Man Utd manager odds

After an incredible start to the 2024/25 campaign for Sporting CP, the latest Ruben Amorim Man Utd manager odds have significantly shortened in the wake of Erik ten Hag's sacking on Monday.

Although Xavi's price shortened on Monday afternoon, bookmakers were unified by the evening in their opinion that Amorim will be the next Red Devils boss. And now, 24 hours on from United's first publicised approach for Amorim, things have moved very quickly.

Here, we’ll explore the latest developments surrounding Amorim's appointment, what he could offer the ailing sleeping giants of English football, and how likely it is that Sporting CP’s current coach will replace Erik ten Hag.

Latest updates on Amorim's appointment

While a deal appears to be more or less done, the major issue for the Manchester outfit now is when can the 39-year-old begin as their new manager. They had hoped that Amorim might even be at the helm for Sunday's clash with Chelsea, but that would require another agreement to be reached.

At present, it could well be after the November international break that Amorim finally gets to debut as United boss. United rock up to Portman Road on 24th November, and so in that scenario, his home bow would be a relatively low-key one, with a Europa League match against Bodo/Glimt.

His first Premier League home game would be against Everton – who United have lost at home to just once in three decades – on 1st December.

Portuguese perfection appeals to United

The Portuguese giants and reigning Primeira Liga champions are riding high after a perfect nine-game start to the league campaign, while also winning in two of their first three Champions League tests. Impressively, those nine league games saw a total of 30 goals from the Lions, and just two going in at the wrong end.

Gyokeres a key figure

Despite being widely linked to a move away back in the summer, Viktor Gyokeres is still clearly focused on plying his trade for Sporting, having notched 12 league goals already, with a further two in the Champions League. He has dominated defences in every one of his matches so far, and continually reflects Amorim’s tactical know-how and awareness.

There is also a feeling that he might be inclined to join Amorim in the January transfer window, should Amorim take the Man Utd job as expected.

‘Burning desire' gives Amorim a competitive edge

The club’s recent success has been greatly attributed to Amorim’s flexibility, hard work and burning desire to win, with the club now winning the Primeira Liga title twice under his leadership – they also won it in 2020/21, with just one league defeat all season. Therefore, it is no surprise that the club has started so brightly once again and looks poised to push for consecutive league titles.

Ruud falls short

For every high-profile appointment, there is a high-profile runner up. Ruud van Nistelrooy was up there amongst the likeliest candidates for a long time, but the prospect of him stepping up from coaching to managing at Old Trafford was clearly not on INEOS' agenda.

Will Ruben Amorim Man Utd manager odds pay out?

If the ‘Next Man Utd Manager' odds market for your favourite bookmaker hasn't shut already, you could still earn a few pennies for what now looks like a ridiculously safe bet. As expected, INEOS have acted quickly and look like they have given Amorim what he wants.

Overall, Amorim has a fantastic track record of consistency, and that is something which United have sorely lacked in recent years. In turn, it stands to reason that INEOS see him as a fantastic candidate to restore the club’s slowly dwindling identity.
