Zverev vs Giron – over 21.5 games @ 4/5
This is a typical indoor clash, even though the matchup does favour Zverev quite a bit. Giron has always been a rather tricky player who can perform well on all surfaces.
Zverev, of course, is one of the best tennis players in the world and plays exceptionally well indoors. We don’t really think that Giron will pose too many problems for Zverev here, but we do believe it could be a close encounter.
As it’s an indoor event, both players are likely to hold their serve without too many issues. Zverev certainly shouldn’t get broken, and Giron is skilled enough to win his serve as well.
He’s looked decent recently, with a couple of nice wins, so overall, this matchup might end up 7-5, 6-4 in favour of Zverev, which would be more than enough to get over the line.
Don’t underestimate Giron, though. He’s unlikely to win this match, but there is a good chance he keeps it relatively close.
Bautista Agut to defeat Ruud @ 3/2
Roberto Bautista Agut has been on fire recently, defeating everyone last week in Stockholm to win the event. He didn’t encounter any significant problems during that run either, with just one match going to a third set.
Casper Ruud also played at that event, but he didn’t look particularly impressive. Generally, he isn’t the most formidable player indoors, although he can certainly perform well.
So, the play is simple: we have one player who is currently on a hot streak, and while it’s generally not wise to back a player immediately after they’ve won a trophy, there’s a decent chance that the Spaniard will continue his momentum.
Beating Ruud isn’t particularly complicated either, so it’s a solid play considering the odds. Ruud might also be thinking ahead to the Paris Masters too, which could prove detrimental to his performance.
