SlipsTips examines the Bet Builder market ahead of Everton's encounter with Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Everton vs Newcastle (Saturday, 17:30)

Everton will endeavour to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League when they entertain Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.

Sean Dyche’s side snapped their five-game winless run in the top-flight this term with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace last weekend.

As for Newcastle, they put in a spirited display last Saturday when holding Man City to a 1-1 draw at St James’ Park.

Rather than putting my faith in either team here, I’ve constructed a Bet Builder that holds plenty of appeal.

Backing both Bruno Guimaraes and Orel Mangala to commit a foul alongside each team to receive a card will bring about an even-money (1/1) play on Bet 365.

Guimaraes has committed a combined total of nine fouls across his six Premier League appearances this season, three of which were against Man City last time out.

In fact, the Magpies midfielder was shown a yellow card against the Sky Blues last weekend, his third of the season, so a solitary foul on Saturday evening should be well within range.

In what promises to be an intensely contested midfield battleground, Guimaraes will likely come up against Everton enforcer Orel Mangala.

The Belgian international has started each of the Blues’ last two league games, giving away three free-kicks in the process.

Mangala was a serial offender during his time in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest last season, averaging 1.32 fouls per-game.

Thus, I’m more than happy to back the aforementioned pair to fall foul of the referee at least once, but to bolster the odds, I’ll also back the two teams to pick up a booking.

Both teams have tackled their way into trouble in four of Everton’s six Premier League matches this season, while both have gone into the book in all bar one of  Newcastle’s six top-flight outings this term to date.

It’s also worth noting that referee Craig Pawson has issued a card to both sides in each of his previous three Premier League assignments this season.

Therefore, backing the above-mentioned Bet Builder should give us a good run for our money at evens on Bet 365.

Elsewhere, I'm also prepared to propose a play on over 4.5 cards at even-money (1/1) with Betfair.

This bet would have proven profitable in four of Newcastle’s six league matches this season, as well as four of the six games referee Pawson has taken charge of across all competitions this term.

Recommended Bets

  • Bruno Guimaraes Over 0,5 Fouls Committed
  • Orel Mangala Over 0,5 Fouls Committed
  • Both Teams Over 0.5 Cards
  • Bet Builder – 1/1 (Bet 365)
