Football Bet of the Day 23rd august

After seeing Viktor Gyokeres failing to net on Friday, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the German Bundesliga, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Wolfsburg vs VfB Stuttgart

🇩🇪 Bundesliga

⏰ Saturday 28 September, 14:30

Last season’s runners-up Stuttgart will look to claim their third successive win in the Bundesliga as they travel to the Volkswagen Arena tomorrow afternoon to take on Wolfsburg in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s hosts gave Bayern an almighty scare on the opening day of the season, as they led 2-1, before going on to lose the match 2-3.

The Wolves did go on to claim a 0-2 victory away at newly-promoted Holstein Kiel next time out but have since lost back-to-back games at home to Eintracht Frankfurt and away at Bayer Leverkusen, throwing away a 2-3 lead and conceding in stoppage-time to lose 4-3 in the latter.

Despite taking the lead after just two minutes, Sebastian Hoeneß’s visitors began their Bundesliga campaign with a 3-1 defeat away at Freiburg before throwing away a 2-0 and 3-2 lead at home to Mainz to draw 3-3.

However, Die Roten claimed their first victory on MD3 with a 1-3 win away at Borussia Monchengladbach before thrashing Borussia Dortmund 5-1 at home last time out in an utterly dominant performance to move them up into seventh position in the table, just two points off second spot.

Bet of the Day

Stuttgart’s opening four Bundesliga fixtures this season have averaged a staggering 5.00 goals per game, with Over 3.5 Goals landing on each occasion, whilst Wolfsburg’s four Bundesliga contests have produced 17 goals, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in three (75%) of them and Over 3.5 Goals in half.

The two meetings between the pair last season produced nine goals – with Over 3.5 Goals banking on each occasion – and I’m happy to have a punt on another high-scoring encounter between the two on Saturday.

Therefore, I’m happy to back the Over 3.0 Asian goal. This would mean if there are exactly three goals scored, we will receive our stake back, whilst four or more strikes will reward a full payout.
