After a long week of tennis in China, the finals in Chengdu and Hangzhou are set. We have a brilliant tennis tip today for each of the championship matches. Both are interesting clashes, so read on for Tuesday’s betting predictions.
Best tennis tips and predictions today
In our first tennis tip, Lorenzo Musetti takes on local player Jungcheng Shang, and we’re backing Musetti to finish the week with a trophy over the hometown hopeful.
In the second, Marin Cilic faces another native, home hope Zhizhen Zhang. We’ll be backing Cilic to get it done in just a few weeks upon his return from injury.
Musetti to defeat Shang 5/6
This is an interesting matchup on paper between a rising star in Shang and Musetti, who has been doing solid stuff in tennis for a very long time.
This year has been the proper breakout for Musetti as he proved himself as much more than a clay specialist. He played well on hard courts, indoors, and grass, which is proper development.
Shang is mainly a hard-court player who has tremendous potential, but he’s proven this week that he can be beaten. He’s still quite raw and lacks the poise in certain moments to get it done.
Musetti might find himself in minor trouble here because Shang will bring the intensity. He’ll also have the crowd rooting for him, but overall Musetti is the far more complete player.
He’s also simply the better player with more experience, and we think that will matter in a final. It might be close, but ultimately, Musetti is expected to win this match, and we don’t see him struggling too much with that.
Cilic to defeat Zhang @ 1/1
One thing that’s been consistently true for Cilic for much of his career is that when he’s playing really well, that doesn’t fade away overnight. He’s missed lots of time recently due to injuries, but his nascent comeback has been going really well so far.
Zhang is a typical power hitter with a powerful serve and powerful baseline game. The problem with that is it’s incredibly streaky. It worked out for him so far this week, and he’s had tremendous fan support, but things won’t be as easy against Cilic.
As we mentioned above, Cilic generally has these weeks when everything works really well. This feels like one of those weeks, and we’ll be backing him to get this done. He’s the better player overall and generally more consistent and reliable. Considering the streaky nature of his opponent, that should be enough.
