The final Grand Slam of the season is upon us, so let's review some of the biggest favourites to win the trophy by looking at the latest US Open men's singles odds.
The US Open is traditionally the final Grand Slam of the year and the last chance for most players to fulfil a lifelong dream. It's a hard-court event that favours those who enjoy fast surfaces and quick play.
As with most Grand Slams in recent years, it's been traditionally won by members of the Big Three, including last year when Novak Djokovic won it. The Serbian will be back this year as one of the US Open favourites, but this event has also surprised in recent years, with players like Dominic Thiem, Carlos Alcaraz, and Daniil Medvedev getting their hands on the trophy.
US Open 2024 Men's Singles Odds to Win
Here are the latest men’s US Open betting odds, based on odds from bookmaker Betfred ahead of the draw being released:
- Carlos Alcaraz @ 6/4
- Jannik Sinner @ 2/1
- Novak Djokovic @ 9/4
- Alexander Zverev @ 10/1
- Daniil Medvedev @ 12/1
- Stefanos Tsitsipas @ 40/1
- Taylor Fritz @ 40/1
- Matteo Berrettini @ 66/1
Alcaraz, the winner of two past Grand Slams, is understandably the biggest favourite for the US Open. Hot on his tail is Jannik Sinner, who recently returned to winning ways by lifting the Cincinnati Open trophy. It's been a while since he truly dominated but with five trophies this year, Sinner will surely be in the mix.
Defending champion Djokovic recently squashed any worries about whether he can still compete at the biggest stage by winning the Paris Olympics. This sees him hold the third line of betting with relatively strong US Open odds.
These three are leagues ahead of the rest of the field in the betting odds, with Alexander Zverev coming in next at 10/1. The German has been the Tour's most consistent performer this year, with really solid performances across the board. Daniil Medvedev is also a danger in New York and sits fifth favourite.
From here, the men’s singles odds for the US Open drop even further. The next best bets are Stefanos Tsitsipas, who hasn't been the best performer in New York over the years, alongside Taylor Fritz and Matteo Berrettini.
The lone American on this list is here because he's widely considered the most consistent player out of all the US players. His performances in New York over the years left a lot to be desired, but it's his home Slam, so we have to mention him.
Finally, Berrettini has been one of the best performers on North American hard courts over the years. His favourite has always been the US Open, where his serve and massive forehand do a lot of damage so that’s why he’s in here.
US Open 2024 Men's Singles Favourites to Win
Here’s a closer look at our favourites to win the US Open men’s singles event in 2024.
Carlos Alcaraz
What makes Carlo Alcaraz the most likely to win the event per the US Open men’s singles odds is he’s simply in rock-solid form this season. The Spaniard has been on an absolute tear in recent months, winning both Roland-Garros and Wimbledon. The only bad outing he had was at the Olympics in the final against Djokovic, where he was outplayed by a better player on that day.
His track record in New York has been spectacular. He won the trophy in 2022 and made the semi-final last year. He loves the conditions, the crowd loves him, and everything just works well.
With his recent form and track record in New York, it's no wonder that he's favoured, though the faster court this year could be a minor thing to watch. He's generally better on the slower hard courts in the US, like Indian Wells. He does have a final in Cincinnati, which is a super quick one, so there is that.
Jannik Sinner
The second favourite at the event, with odds similar to Djokovic's, is Sinner. The Italian leads the Tour with the most trophies this year (five) and is the reigning world No. 1. That alone will make him a favourite, but his performances in New York haven’t been as good as in other places.
The Italian has never made it past the quarter-final which is an important detail to note. He did just win the Cincinnati Open without many problems, and that's a court with similar specifications to that in New York, which certainly adds to his credibility as a favourite.
Novak Djokovic
Djokovic is the third favourite behind Alcaraz and Sinner simply because of the way his year has turned out. The most recent memory all tennis fans have is Djokovic beating Alcaraz in the Paris Olympics final. It demonstrated why Djokovic is a legend of the sport.
Despite being a significant underdog on a surface that suits Alcaraz more, the Serbian was able to outplay him and win the only thing he's never won before. That sort of motivation makes Djokovic scary because winning the US Open would make him the first player ever, male or female, to win 25 Grand Slams.
He won the event last year as well, so the odds are only worse because his first half of the year was very underwhelming. His most recent performances, though, warrant him as one of the favourites.
Daniil Medvedev
The 2021 champion hasn't had the best year, nor has his level been brilliant lately, but Medvedev will always be among the favourites in New York. Outside of the Australian Open, it's been his best Slam result-wise. He won it in 2021, played in the final last year and generally does really well on a court like this one.
This year's court should be even more to his liking because the tournament director confirmed that the courts have been sped up this year. It's claimed they're as fast as Cincinnati, which is a court Medvedev loves, though some have disputed those claims. It does however play a bit faster than last year according to reports.
In any case, Medvedev's love for the conditions in New York and his added motivation after some lacklustre performances make him one to watch.
