SPFL Tips: Best Bets at Alloa, Stenhousemuir & Kilmarnock

ALLOA look the best bet of the weekend to defeat Kelty Hearts at a very solid 10/11 in League One.

The destination of Scottish football's third-tier title flag has not been in doubt for a long time with Falkirk set to finally get out after five miserable years.

But the battle for the play-off spots is hotting up and it could pay to back the Wasps to sting their Fife opponents at the Indodrill Stadium.

Andy Graham's men are sitting in fourth place – the last of the play-off spots and cannot afford any slip-ups after a surprising 4-3 defeat at Montrose last week although they were reduced to ten men for the last half hour.

Previously to that, Alloa had been in great form with five wins in a row and three of them were in their Clackmannanshire stronghold.

In contrast, Kelty have lost three games in a row including a hammering from Hamilton Accies last week when they were dumped 5-0 at home.

They've also conceded five at Stirling and four at Montrose so Alloa should get the job done here.

STENHOUSEMUIR are 16 points clear of second-place Spartans in League Two and the side meet at Ochilview this week and it's a pleasant surprise to see the hosts at a very backable 17/20.

Gary Naysmith's runaway leaders have the title wrapped up after a magnificent run of 12 league wins in a row – outstanding at any level.

They did crash to that incredible 6-1 home defeat to bottom club Clyde the other week but that has to be put down as a freak result surely and Stenny bounced back with a win at Bonnyrigg Rose last week.

Spartans have done well in their first season in the Scottish Football League, but they've lost recently to Forfar Athletic, Elgin City and East Fife and are too inconsistent.
And at a price almost at evens, the leaders must be backed.

Aberdeen have conceded at least two goals for six league games in a row and KILMARNOCK can extend that run in the Scottish Cup quarter-final at Pittodrie by netting two or more at 9/5.

The Dons are in freefall and, as has been pointed out on plenty of occasions here, simply cannot defend with Scandinavian stoppers Stefan Gartenmann and Richard Jensen, along with Dutch keeper Kelle Roose a major problem.

Killie have defeated Aberdeen three times this season without conceding a goal and you better believe former Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes will have his men up for this.
