MFT TopTips EuropaLeague Safe 2

Five British teams are chasing European success with tie looking intriguing in its own right.

Liverpool’s squad has been stretched to the limit recently but Mo Salah’s return to the fold has given them a big boost ahead of their Europa League clash with Sparta Prague.

The Czech’s finished second in Rangers’ group, a point behind the Glaswegians and were unbeaten at home (W2 D1) but the Reds should be a step up in class and can land the 3/4 odds.

Brighton have been a real mixed bag this season. On their day, Roberto De Zerbi’s men can go toe-to-toe with the very best but they’ve been plagued by inconsistency.

Who knows which Brighton will turn up at AS Roma tonight? What we do know is that they saved some of their best performances for the Europa League this season, topping a group with Ajax, Marseille and AEK.

Roma parted company with Jose Mourinho in January and they’ve barely looked back under Daniele De Rossi who has overseen six wins in seven in Serie A – their only defeat to runaway leaders Inter Milan.

They’re banging in the goals too. They’ve scored 4, 3, 3, 2 and 4 in their last five league outings. In among that lot was a penalty shoot-out win over Feyenoord in the knock-out round. All-in-all the mood is good in the Roman camp.

With that in mind the 11/10 on a home win could be the way to go.

Rangers face a tough task to make it to the last eight, drawn against Portuguese giants Benfica who boast two World Cup winners, Angel Di Maria and Nicolas Otamendi, in their squad.

The Eagles were hammered 5-0 by rivals Porto at the weekend, their second defeat in a row, so they’ve some making up to do to their fans which could make life more difficult for Phillipe Clement’s men.

But Rangers have shown some real resilience in European competition in recent years and with a return leg at Ibrox, as long as they stay in the tie, then anything is possible.

Benfica are short at 2/5 to qualify and you can have 7/4 on Rangers to progress. Tonight the Gers are 9/2 to inflict a third successive defeat on Benfica.

Rangers could be good for a goal in this one but at the other end they’ve kept just two clean sheets in their last 16 European ties so over 2.5 Goals appeals at 4/6 as does Benfica to score two or more.

Europa Conference League holders, West Ham, are strong favourites at 8/13 to qualify at Freiburg’s expense.

The Germans are languishing in 9th place in the Bundesliga where they’re winless in six (D2 L4) so the Hammers will feel they can get a result tonight and don’t look the worst bet at 17/10.

Elsewhere in the Europa League Qarabag and Bayer Leverkusen meet for a third time this season. Xabi Alonso’s men won 1-0 in Baku thanks to 94th minute Victor Boniface penalty.

With two legs to do the job Alonso might take the opportunity to rest a few in favour of keeping their noses well ahead of Bayern in the League.

The Azerbaijan champions can be dangerous on home soil so be wary of the 4/11 odds on the away win.

AC Milan should be too good for Slavia Prague. At 2/5 they’ll beef up an acca.

.

Two former European Champions go head-to-head in Amsterdam where Ajax host Aston Villa.

The Dutch giants have had a tough season and squeezed past Bodo/Glimt in the previous round after dropping out of the Europa League following just one win (3-1 at to AEK) in six.

Unai Emery loves a European trophy so expect Villa to progress over the two legs. They’re a bit on the short side at 4/6 this evening though.

Union Saint-Gilloise beat a seriously under-strengthen Liverpool en route to 3rd place in Europa League Group E but you can only beat what’s in front to you right?

They lead the way in Belgium and look a good bet at 17/10 to take a first leg advantage over Fenerbahce.

The Turkish lost at Ludogorets and were hammered 6-1 by Nordsjælland in the Conference League group stages so could be vulnerable on the road in Belgium.

Molde’s last five home matches in Europe have finished 2-3 1-2, 2-2, 5-1, 3-2 so we could be in for a few goals in Norway tonight where Club Brugge are the visitors with Over 2.5 Goals looking well priced at 9/10.

Everybody that’s moaning about VAR and all that comes with it should watch the QPR v West Brom game from last night….big centre half Kipre makes the save of the match to stop a goal and the officials somehow missed it. Decisions like that can be the difference between relegation and survival, more so in this season’s Championship. Unbelievable and Norwich’s red card was as much of a shambles,Howson should be embarrassed and VAR would’ve reversed that too

I know it ain’t, that’s my point on the benefits of VAR….those wanting it gone should be careful what you wish for when you consider last nights Kipre incident, basically punched/slapped the ball over the bar like the ghost of Maradona ?

VAR is a load of bollocks.
Draining the life out of the game.
No one can celebrate anymore without look at the screen to check if some tit who never played thinks it’s ok.

We always knew officials missed stuff from time to time but the problem with VAR is it’s finding other insignificant things when it wants to and disallowing stuff that shouldn’t be disallowed.

Ajax can be a feisty team at times
It`s 9/2 for a red in the game so splitting my bet between the 2 of them seems sensible

    Europa League/Conference League
    Brighton
    Liverpool
    Rangers
    West Ham
    Villa
All teams double chance 6.73/1 B365

No doubt Brighton’s trip to Roma on paper is a tough one but they are a Premier League side and are about Roma’s strength so it should be a good game, Brighton obviously will look to keep it tight which they are good at when they play that way it’s when they set up attack minded that they ship the goals, Roberto De Zerbi is Italian so he will know the crack .

    Prediction 1-1

West Ham’s game v Frieberg could be another tricky one but I think West Ham will set up defensive and settle for a draw here, these sides have met twice before (last season) with West inning on both occasions.
    Prediction 1-1

    Benfica v Rangers
Benfica are not the Benfica of old they simply aren’t as good as they used to be and I’d question wether they would be really up for tonight’s game. Rangers on the other hand have been in some good form since their new manager took over albeit they did lose to Motherwell but that can happen. Rangers are finding it easier to score goals where Benfica are the opposite, I watched them a week or two ago and they were lacklustre to say the least. Rangers can come away with at least a draw if they play to their strengths.
    Prediction 1-1

I don’t see any reason why the British sides tonight should lose. All double chance at a good price I might even take them all to win.
    Best of luck

Always top notch tips macca. Much appreciated mate. But this thing about the premier league being so fantastic is a joke. Brighton against Roma sums it up quite well for me. By the way not a Liverpool fan but fully in your corner this year pal. Klopp does deserve it.

Liverpool going stronger than I expected so should find at least a couple goals against a bang average European side, going over 1.5tgs Liverpool.

Ajax can’t stop losing goals and Villa should be too strong here, so again over 1.5 tgs for Villa.

Brighton are a total jekyll and hyde this season, never know which side will show up, but always good for a goal or two at either end, BTTS score and over 2.5mgs shouldn’t be too far away here, Roma fairly picked up since Mourhinho was booted too.

Liverpool over 1.5 tgs, Villa over 1.5tgs – double at 6/4 NAP.

Add BTTS and over 2.5mgs at Roma/Brighton for 23/5 NB.

Liverpool, Villa over 2.5 tgs each, Roma/Brighton BTTS and over 3.5 mgs for 26.5/1 LONGSHOT.

    Good luck.
