“Form goes out the window” is a well-worn cliche when it comes to derbies, but what if both sides are out of form?

As we head in to the first Glasgow Derby of the season neither Rangers or Celtic can claim to be at the peak of their powers.

Rangers’ dreams of qualifying for the Champions League were crushed by PSV Eindhoven whilst Celtic have failed to win or even score in their last two outings against Kilmarnock (0-1) and St Johnstone (0-0), so the pressure is on both managers who’ll find themselves in the midst of a crisis if they fail to win.

Celtic opened up as 6/4 favourites last Saturday but the prices have been turned on their head since then with the Gers now most likely in the bookies’ eyes at 13/10 to win and Hoops out to 9/5.

💰 Rangers v Celtic Predict the Score & Win a £50 Free Bet

Enter our competition to win a free bet at Quinnbet here.

Rangers won the last meeting convincingly by three goals to nil but the league title was done and dusted by then so we can’t read too much in to that but a significant factor could be the lack of any Celtic fans today – the result of an ongoing dispute between the clubs over away tickets allocations.

That makes for an even more hostile environment for Brendan Rodgers’ men who’ll need to keep a fervent home support quiet.

But Rangers will look to come flying out the traps, like they did last time when the opened the scoring inside five minutes, something they also did when the sides met in at Ibrox in April 2022. In fact all of the last three meetings at Ibrox have seen an early goal, with Daizen Maeda notching for the Bhoys on in the fifth minute back in January.

A goal inside the first 10 minutes today pays 3/1 (Bet365) whereas a goal before 25:00 is 5/6 (Bet365).

Home advantage and 50,000 fans makes the home win a decent proposition at 13/10 especially as Brendan Rodgers is likely to hand debuts to one or two new arrivals. That could allow Michael Beale’s men to get a foothold in the game and the lack of goals for Celtic of late will be a worry for the Hoops’ faithful.

At Pittodrie both Aberdeen and Hibs will be looking to put their Euro exits behind them.

The Dons were hugely disappointing on Thursday at home to BK Hacken but they’re a pretty solid record at Pittodrie domestically under Barry Robson.

In absence of a permanent manager David Gray takes charge of the Hibees in search of their first league win of the season.

Aberdeen can bounce back with a win at 13/10 and Bojan Miovski looks the best bet to score at 7/4 having netted in his last five matches.

In the Premier League Liverpool welcome Aston Villa to Anfield.

Mo Salah was the subject of huge offer from Al Ittihad on transfer deadline day but the Egyptian remains a Red. For now. He’s scored six goals in his last six starts against Villa and is 11/10 to underline his importance to Jurgen Klopp’s side with a goal today.

Villa shouldn’t be written off in this one. Liverpool may have lost just once in 43 home league games but Unai Emery’s side have been one of the most consistent in 2023, picking up 49 points so far, a tally only bettered by Manchester City.

Liverpool fans will also know that the absence of Virgil Van Dijk isn’t good news. The Reds only won one of six games he missed last season. You can get 19/5 on the away win at SBK or 6/5 in the Double Chance market.

Super Sunday match is at the Emirates where old foes Arsenal and Manchester United meet.

United have laboured to their two wins this season and just seem a bit short of quality against the top teams in the league.

Arsenal haven’t yet top gear yet either but they’ve a good recent record against the Red Devils at home where they’re unbeaten in five (W4 D1).

It’s 3/4 they win today but they need to score a couple to do so. They’ve only kept four clean sheets in their last 26 matches at home so a Gunners win with Over 2.5 match goals could yield more profit at 6/5.

First time in a long while I haven’t been confident going into an Old Firm game so staying away from picking winners and plumping for red cards, there hasnt been a red in the last 11 meetings and its long overdue

Celtic v Rangers red card in the match 5/2
Both teams to receive a red 35/1

    Palace vs Wolves:

I can’t back Wolves to win. We’re still too much of an unknown. The jury is out on GoN for me. We played some great football and tactically were spot on against Manure. We deserved something at old Trafford that’s for sure. I do wonder how much of that was lopeteguis preparation though.

I think we will look to move to playing a fluid back 5 again over the coming weeks, but maybe not today as the new defender will need more time to become accustomed to things etc. I’d prefer it. It’s how we played in our first 2 prem seasons and it worked.

If we do go back 5 today which allows Doc (and hopefully ait-nouri) etc the freedom to drive forward again then I see us winning.

Aside from that. I can’t really call it. Selling Nunes has allowed us to massively strengthen and I for 1 am not upset to see him leave. He was too hit and miss for me. I’m sure he will flourish in that Man City side but I never saw a player worth what we paid, let alone what Citeh have paid.

I see us scoring today. I also probably see us conceding.

We’re always good for a couple of cards too haha.

Betfair have a decent one for me

2+ goals, 3+ corners each team and 1+ card each team at 11/10 (NAP)

    Afternoon gents,

Really disappointing with yesterday’s picks, Scarborough let me down with (somehow) netting just once – apologies to anybody who followed 😔

All about Iceland for me this afternoon and I’d expect goals in each of the games as we head into the final games of the top-flight:

    BREIDABLIK VS. FH HAFNARFJORDUR (3.00pm)

    OVER 3.5 GOALS
    (5/6, bet365) NAP ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    OVER 4.5 GOALS
    (2/1, bet365) NB ⭐️⭐️

    BREIDABLIK
    FRAM
    FYLKIR
    IBV
    STJARNAN
    VALUR

    *OVER 2.5 GOALS 6-FOLD
    (7/1, bet365) LONGSHOT ⭐️

    *All 3.00pm KOs

Best of luck with all bets!

    Crystal Palace vs Wolves
An attacking lineup from Wolves today so I fancy them to create a few chances in this one. They were excellent away to United on the opening day with 23 attempts. Despite the home loss to Brighton they still had 16 shots and last weekend against Everton 11. Wolves are averaging just over 20 tackles per game and I like them to continue this trend today.
    Wolves Over 20 Tackles @ 1.83 (NAP)
Wolves 11 or more shots @ 1.91 Paddy Power

    Liverpool vs Aston Villa
I expect Villa to have a go in this one especially with the defensive issues for Liverpool along with Van Dijk being suspended. Still think Liverpool may just about edge this but it should be an end to end game.
Over 26 shots @ 2.15 William Hill (NB)
Villa Over 11 shots @ 2.45 William Hill

    Best of luck all

Fritz -1.5 sets vs Stricker x Tiafoe -1.5 Sets vs Hijikata

    Hijikata Under 9.5 Aces vs Tiafoe @ 1.83 Bet365
Hijikata is not known as a big server & even if this goes to 4 sets I think he may struggle to hit this line. I do however think that Tiafoe wins either in straight or 3-1.
