No team has ever won four consecutive top flight titles in England but that’s the task ahead of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City who begin the defence of their crown against Burnley tonight.

As far as the bookies are concerned the destination of the Premier League trophy looks a forgone conclusion with City well clear of the chasing pack at 8/11 to be champions for a sixth time in seven season.

It’ll be club legend Vincent Kompany who is aiming to put an early dent in their campaign at Turf Moor tonight after guiding Burnley to an impressive promotion last term.

City ran out 6-0 winners when the sides met in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup last season with Erling Haaland grabbing a hat-trick en route to an incredible 52 goals in 54 appearances. However the Norwegian failed to scored in any of City’s last six matches of last season but he’s 8/11 to open his season’s account tonight and 12/5 to break the deadlock.

The Clarets turned Turf Moor in to a bit of a fortress last season, only losing once at home in the Championship but it’s a different story when you’re up against the champions of Europe and they’re 13/2 to pull off a surprise opening day win.

City are 1/3 but Pep Guardiola felt they were a little undercooked ahead of the Community Shield, which they subsequently lost on penalties to Arsenal, so it could take them a while to get going but they should get the job done.

The last eight meetings between the sides have been won by an aggregate of 26-1 in City’s favour so another win to nil could be the best route to profit at 6/5.

Great signing Macca even if possibly slightly over priced. Game changer for you guys this season though that’s for sure.

Massive hats off to Brighton again though. £4.5m signing and selling for £110m in the space of 2 season is insane business.

Brighton certainly know how to scout, if you look at their sales over the past few years it’s phenomenal. These players they are selling are proven in the EPL that’s key to them selling for big prices. Brighton know the big sides are always going to plunder their best players so they take advantage and it’s what keeps them afloat. Southampton have been the same over the years they have done some big business.

Yeah the Brighton scouts are something else aren’t they. Amazing negotiators as well with Tony Bloom.

Next up with likely be Mitoma and Enciso being sold for big profits.

For me I wouldn’t go for big bets at such an early stage of the season. Still every chance it comes in with how Liverpool play they could score 3/4 times themselves. Also have to consider though we still don’t know the effect Pochettino will have and with so many new players likely on show in this game. With Nkunku being out injured they don’t have many attacking options either to take advantage of Liverpool’s recent defensive issues (assuming Caicedo doesn’t start). Plus start of the season could also be cagey with players still working up to full fitness. I can’t see Chelsea scoring more than 1 with Mudryk, Sterling and Jackson personally. So would be relying on Liverpool scoring several away at Chelsea. Risky one for me for a 52 units bet!

I think the Columbian girls are better than the 10/3 offered (skybet) by the bookies to qualify for the next round having beaten the mighty Germans in the group stage and had a decent showing in the last round. Obviously England are the stronger side and if they all turn up should waltz it, however, in the four games for England so far I would rate their performance as two crap, one par and one good and I think will have to be at least par to progress, a poor performance tomorrow and I think they will be coming home. I’ll be rooting for England but my betting head says the price is to big so I’ll win one way or the other.

Been a while, hope everyone is well.

Popping up a couple antepost bets, which is what I mostly stick to these days. All with Bet365.

Firstly, incredible piece of business by Arsenal getting Raya on loan. Bayern, Spuds & Chelsea were rejected cause Brentford wanted more & then we come along & get him on loan for 3mill & option to buy for 27mill. I feel we bullied Brentford into the deal so gotta feel for them but that’s business & life. The Arsenal hate has already started which means we’re doing something right. Love it! Otherwise the rest of our business has been solid, we got the future England captain, time will tell with Havertz but Timber looks an absolute baller!

Well done Brighton getting 110mill. Madness! Ridiculous money being spent this window so no club can complain they aren’t being backed & pressure is on for trophies! I feel the Gunners will challenge City again so 3.75 on Arsenal to win outright with City looks tasty! Arsenal to finish higher than Liverpool 1.8 & United 1.8. Arsenal over 79 points 2.1

Villa to finish higher than Brighton 2.25. Villa finish higher than Spuds 2.75. Fulham finish higher than Brentford 2.1. Luton finish higher than Sheff Utd 2.5. Saka more goals than Gakpo 2.1. Saka 15 or more goals 3.00. Odegaard 10 or more goals doubled with Mitoma 10 or more goals 2.35. Golden Glove Ederson 1.8. City under 89 points 2.1. Burnley higher finish than Palace 2.37. Burnley higher finish than Forest 1.72. 2 promoted teams to be relegated 1.9.

Wolves 1-3 points before 04 Sep 2023 at 2.2. Think this looks a great shout! Enjoy the season.

In all likelihood if Saliba had stayed fit Arsenal win the league last season. Look at the goals conceded per game before his injury in comparison to the last 2 months.

City improved as the season went on but not sure how a team leading for so long with it coming down to the last 3/4 doesn’t count count as a title challenge?

After the Saliba injury and with the easier fixtures City had in the last 10 games I was expecting them to win but we certainly gave them a good challenge. I’m sure all City fans will agree with that.

It’s been a great window for us mate that’s for sure. Raya deal was incredible really. Not sure what Edu did to get that one over the line. League should be between us and City again but with Liverpool now getting Caicedo they can’t be ruled out. Fancy those for the top 3 and then Villa pushing United/Newcastle for 4th.

Discussed it with Macca a week or so ago but really like Villa this season and placed a bet on them to finish above Chelsea and Spurs already as well as finishing in the top 4 and 6, all of which have now shorted with the Nkunku injury and Kane flying off to win trophies in Germany.

Burnley bets look good. Think Forest will massively struggle again this season. Poor defence and not many goals is never a good combo. Luton, Sheff Utd & Forest for me to be relegated although with everything going on at Wolves they will be in the mix as well.

    GL with your bets mate.

How can you be so confident Macca?

We have improved since last season with the signings of Rice and Timber in particular. As it currently stands you could arguably say City are weaker having lost key proven players in Gundogan & Mahrez & don’t have much on the wings. De Bruyne also getting older now and has recently struggled to play full seasons. If anything happens to Haaland they would struggle massively.

Liverpool will be better this season I agree especially now with the signing of Caicedo.

Those are still the top 3 for me and I think the points between all will be close at the end of the season.

      4

Also seems that the Caicedo deal to Liverpool may not be quite certain yet.

Chelsea have not given up according to Fabrizio Romano.

Will be a major blow to whoever misses out.

Thanks MJT! The Arsenal fear is real & the hate is coming from all quarters & I’m loving it. Last year we were outsiders to finish in the top 4 & now we’re in the title conversation. Arteta has worked wonders! Going to be a cracker of a season. Good luck with any bets you have & enjoy the season!

    • Avatar of mark edley

Where does this guy get this hate thing from?? Arsenal haven’t won anything and from what I know they aren’t holders of anything unless I missed something and they did the treble last season. I do know they won’t be able to time waste this season that’s a fact.

    • Avatar of MJT
      MJT 1 year ago

Well technically we are holders of the mighty Community Shield 😉

Look I’m not saying we are definitely going to win the league. But I am confident we will be challenging again just like we were last season. I would be surprised and disappointed if we are not in the top 3 and top 2 if Liverpool now fail in signing Caicedo.

Either way looking forward to another great season of footy.

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion Macca and if that’s what you feel then no problem. Just not sure I agree that we have no chance but only time will tell I guess.

I take it you think City will win again then?

      2
    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 1 year ago

Of course they will, all this hype from Arsenal fans getting carried away need to get in the real world. The signing of Declan Rice isn’t going to change a thing. City will still dominate, City probably won’t get going until mid season and still win it.

    • Avatar of MJT
      MJT 1 year ago

Not sure thinking we will challenge again next season after finishing 2nd last year and strengthening in the summer is getting carried away personally. If I was to say I think we will definitely win the league and probably go unbeaten that would be another story.

City will likely once again win the league but you never know what can happen in football. What if Haaland gets injured for 2/3 months like Saliba last year? They may still win games but will certainly struggle a lot more without him.

To say we have no chance I just can’t agree with but football is all about opinions.

A bit of a transfer saga on the cards it seems.

According the Fab Romano Caicedo has told Liverpool he only wants to join Chelsea!

    Gauff -2 Games v Pegula 1.95, Pinnacle
Gauff has followed up her Washington title with some great tennis so far again this week including the thrashing of Wimbledon Champion Vondrousova 6-3 6-0. Although Pegula won comfortably enough yesterday against Paolini she struggled in the 1st set hitting a number of errors. For me Gauff is playing the much better tennis at the moment. Has the slightly better serve & movement is one of the best on tour. I was slightly concerned about the fatigue factor but she has been winning matches so easily & has very rarely been on court for more than 90 mins so should still be fresh.

May have a further play on the later matches.

Sounds like Liverpool tried to gazump Chelsea with a 111 million bid for caicedo but the player is apparently keen in honouring an agreement to join Chelsea ??

Quite a refreshing story if that’s correct though I’m sure he will be well be paid at Chelsea of course, but shows in respect of Liverpool that money can’t buy your love.

Of course until the deal is signed nothing is final and if his head is turned by Liverpool’s money he will then be a money grabbing t**t with no morals 🤣

Fickle game isn’t it, and it’s revolting for the common man hearing these teams bickering over a million here, a few million there as if it was just loose change.

You can smell a dean by creating a mental image of him by his writing style, the way he constructs sentences, little clues in the way he uses commas, punctuation marks, full stops at certain stages of paragraphs etc and emojis 👌being one of his Favourites in the past.

The biggest giveaway is the way the colourful icons are used to highlight his wins as he becomes self obsessed with his greatness after a run of wins.

How many deans are here at any one time ?, I suspect there are 2 versions of himself posting regularly right now and even talks to himself to slip the net of suspicion.

But there again I might be suffering from a case of extreme paranoia 🤣

I have zero clue who Dean is or how many accounts this individual has on here but all I know is I’m not one of them as topbuzzer seems to be suggesting above.

A pity there is no way of verifying accounts on here somehow.
