There was much hope and confidence swirling around Ibrox ahead of the start of the of the season. A 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock was a huge reality check for the Gers and perhaps a timely one ahead of a crucial run of European matches. They’ve plenty of time to recover in the SPFL Premiership but there are few second chances when walking the Champions League qualification tightrope.
The good news for Beale is that is was the less-fancied Servette who prevailed against Genk last week and at some expense to their squad.
It’s been reported that the Swiss could be without the services of seven players including captain and regular goalkeeper Jeremy Frick, as well as striker Enzo Crivelli who was sent off in last week’s triumph over the Belgians.

PSV potentially lie in wait once more but for now it’s all about securing a good first leg win. Fans will be expecting a reaction after Saturday’s dismal display and we should see a straightforward victory for Beale’s men.
Servette finished a distant second the Swiss Super League to Young Boys and should be out of their depth in the cauldron of Ibrox so a comfortable first leg win shouldn’t be beyond the Gers.

Murray’s form over recent months has been improving & he loves the conditions in Toronto. Should expose Purcell even if a set may be close if Purcell serves well. On a hard court Medvedev should be far too good for Arnaldi. Only concern is first match since Wimbledon. However, this is his best surface so even if he takes a little while to get going should still win comfortably enough. Pegula has the much better serve & more power. Likely to get plenty of chances to break. Would be surprised if she lost more than 6/7 games.
De Minaur x Medvedev 2-0 1.83, William Hill (NB)
De Minaur will get plenty of balls back in play which will grind down and frustrate Diallo. For me the only way Diallo keeps this close is if he serves lights out along with a massive off day from De Minaur. Medvedev beat Arnaldi earlier this season 6-4 6-2 without facing a break point & this should be a similar scoreline again. Away from clay Arnaldi is not the same player & I would be very surprised if he managed to get a set here. Only hope is early rustiness from Medvedev.
