Gerry Taylor joins us this season bring his Scottish Football (and beyond) expertise to the site. He kicks-off with a 13/2 four-fold.

Celtic v Ross County

It's the first competitive match on Brendan Rodger's return to Parkhead.

The ex-Leicester gaffer will want The Hoops to get off to the perfect start, in front of the expectant home support.

Especially as Ange Postecoglou's Bhoys were flawless domestically last term.

The Staggies rock up to the East End of Glasgow, and the Dingwall men performed pretty well in the League Cup – winning their group without too much drama.

This however looks a stiff task for Malky Mackays boys, stopping the Celtic juggernaut on the opening day.

The Higlanders only escaped relegation to the Championship when Partick Thistle imploded in the play-off final.

Hence, a home win here looks a good thing.

St Johnstone v Hearts

St Johnstone are unquestionably the most vulnerable Premiership side going into the opening matchday.

Defeats for the Saintees in the League Cup to Stenhousemuir, Ayr Utd & Stirling Albion (4-0), have made the Perth natives restless.

Despite the strange managerial set up going on with Hearts & Frankie McAvoy & Steven Naismith, the Jambos with a strong travelling support should be looking to get off to the perfect start, against their beleaguered hosts.

Falkirk v Annan Athletic

Falkirk were a strong side to support as the home side last season. The Bairns had mixed results in the league Cup in July.

However their newly-promoted opponents Annan Athletic had a bit of a disaster in the early season Cup competition.

Peter Murphy's charges, understandably lost to Dunfermline, Raith & Kilmarnock – but they conceded a double figure goals total to that trio.

The defeat to Lowland League side Albion Rovers though at Galabank, was a sore one and a surprising reverse.

Queen of the South v Alloa Athletic

Queen of the South went unbeaten in their League Cup group, but still failed to qualify.

The Doonhamers though, can boast a very creditable 3-3 draw at home to Premiership outfit Motherwell.

Alloa finished their league cup campaign, having suffered a defeat to out-of-form St Johnstone, but more alarmingly the 6-0 gubbing to Ayr Utd last time out, was not a great lead in to their visit to Dumfries.

So, hopefully Marvin Bartley's boys can complete the Treble.
