Good Friday is always a busy day in the Football League calendar and there's a full card across the Championship, League One and League Two today.
Sheffield United look an obvious choice for punters today at home to bottom side Wigan, but the Latics have shown a marked improvement under Maloney and can't be written off as relegation-bound just yet despite off-field problems that have seen them docked points recently.
There's no disgrace in recent defeats to Burnley and West Brom, two of only three losses in their last 11 outings so it might not be a straightforward as the 4/9 on the Blades suggest. Stay clear of any handicap bets and keep United for the accas.
One team who are in Wigan's sights at the bottom are QPR who's decline has been spectacular. Rangers were top of the table on October 22 but have since won just two of 23 games and slid to 19th place. They host Preston this afternoon who have lost just one in nine and look generously priced at 2/1.
Ipswich Town are the form team in League One and if Sheffield Wednesday's poor form continues they could yet catch up with the Owls at the top of the table.
It's now seven wins in a row for the Tractor Boys who are unbeaten in 11 in the league and they should make it 8 in a row at home to Wycombe today. Add them to the aforementioned Sheffield United for an even money double.
Ahead of the big Glasgow Derby on Saturday there's another at Firhill where it's last chance saloon for Partick Thistle to stay in the hunt for the title. Defeat to Queen's Park would see them slip points behind the Spiders, however, a win for the Jags would put them within three points.
Queen's Park are hanging on to top spot, but only just. Two successive defeats have allowed Dundee to move to within a point with a game in hand so Owen Coyle's men cannot afford another slip-up with only five games remaining.
Thistle put five past hapless Cove Rangers last weekend but they've been too inconsistent this season to expect them to follow that up.
Queen's Park have had the upper hand in the three meetings so far this season winning 3-2, 4-0 and 2-0 already and we're not quite prepared to write them off, not at 13/5, to make it four out of four.

Bet for April
Salford v Leyton Orient
Watched the Leyton Orient pre match press conference last night to see they have no fit recognised centre forward, Charlie Kelman serves a 1 match ban and Aaron Dinan has a knock and won’t be risked. Ritchie Wellens admitting they will have to change how they play today. This for me is every reason to get on the Salford win today.
I had been lining this bet up all week but decided AFC Wimbledon away on Monday was the better option for Salford due to the growing injury list they have, the fact they have a 600 mile round trip today and the short turn around of playing again Monday.
This news last night made me switch to my original bet.I said last week Salford were currently the best side in the league at this moment ( performance based ) and after an excellent away point at a very well organised Stockport side, that opinion still stands.
4 points from their last 2 games against Stevenage away and Stockport away is an excellent return in anyones book.
Apart from the the news of Orient having no recognised centre forward another real stand out reason for this bet is Salfords form against the teams in an around the top 7. They have won home and away against Stevenage, home and away against Northampton, home and away against Mansfield, home and away against Sutton, they beat Bradford 1-0, Stockport away 1-1.
Salford have won 6 from their last 8 at home whilst Orient have only 1 win in their last 8 away, although most of these are draws.
Going back to the Ritchie Wellens pre match press conference ( I suggest anyone else looking at this bet go and watch it) you can see how he sees to emphasise how more important their game at home on Monday against Harrogate is more important, you can almost sense he sees today as a free pass and they want to almost seal promotion in front of their own fans as they are a long way clear of 4 th spot so know they are almost promoted, where as Salford need to win to push for the play offs or even automatic.
It’s the leagues highest scorers up against the leagues meanest defence today and with what I have touched on above I think there is every reason to back Salford to take all 3 points today.
Salford to win 11/8
Salford v Leyton orient
Both teams have scored in there last 9 games so following bets ;
Btts 5/6
Btts and overs 8/5
Over 2.5 mgs 6/5
Good luck
I’d suggest it could be worth waiting for the teams to be announced for these bets. Salford signed former Watford defender Adrian Mariappa a couple of weeks ago. He didn’t play last week as he had been on international duty, he came on as a sub in that game. If he starts today he could shore up the defence for sure and especially with Orient not having a recognised number 9 today. I genuinely have no idea how fit he is though, I have tried to find out but was unable to.
Maybe there are Salford supporters who read this who could possibly help?
I’ll also just point out in the last game Stockport picked apart Salford down the right hand side and that was no suprise as Ibou Touray was rested as he had also been on international duty and he is their only recognised left back. He will be back today and I’m hoping Mariappa is up to match fitness and can play and it could make a big difference defensively.
Good luck to you also.

Ipswich v Wycombe.
Nathan broadhead to score anytime 7-4.
Lads buzzing after scoring for Wales recently
Used to watch his nathan’s grandfather Tony broadhead playing for Bangor city back in the day, probably shows how old I am.
He was on Everton’s books for years but a series of high profile managers didn’t want to give youth a chance so he was in Loan at a few clubs and finally got a permanent move to an Ipswich side on the rise
