Liverpool could have a huge say in the destination of the Premier League in the next 8 days. First up a trip to the Etihad this lunchtime, before they welcome table-toppers Arsenal to Anfield next Sunday.
Sandwiched in between for the Reds is a midweek date with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and all that Jurgen Klopp will be concerning himself with is how his own team come out of a challenging week.
Klopp holds the upper hand in clashes with his adversary Pep Guardiola, winning 11 of 27 meetings and drawing seven but the odds are stacked against him today according the bookies who make City 8/13 versus 4/1 on Liverpool.
City come in to the game having scored 13 in their last two outings but there's a major doubt over 42-goal Erling Haaland who missed out on international duty with a groin issue. Guardiola might risk the hitman however since Phil Foden is sidelined too.
Jurgen Klopp himself has admitted that he doesn't know which Liverpool will turn up, so what chance do us punters have?
Even if the best version of the Reds, with much more at stake for City they should win if they bring their own A-game.
Arsenal will know the outcome from the Etihad before they kick-off against Leeds Utd at 3pm, regardless, nothing less than three points will do for Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners should get the job done – they've won all seven of their home fixtures against sides currently in the bottom half of the table – but they're developing a habit of conceding goals. They've only kept six clean sheets in 16 matches since the turn of the year and just one in their last five. Leeds have scored six in their last two outings and definitely pose more of a goal threat at the moment. Both teams to score pays 19/20.
A Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace are 8/5 to begin the second Roy Hodgson era with a win over Leicester City. The Foxes have won just one of their last six league visits and one man they'll need to keep in check is Wilfried Zaha who has scored more goals against Leicester than any other club. He's 5/2 to find the net on his old gaffer's return to the hotseat.
Hodgson will know that a win against one of their relegation rivals will buy him some early breathing space and that 8/5 looks tempting. Palace have been critised for their lack of shot nevermind goals lately but re-energised under Hodgson and up against a defence that's not kept a clean sheet in the league since the middle of December they could find their scoring touch again. Over 1.5 Eagles goals pays 13/8.
On Thursday we highlighted Middlesbrough, Coventry and Blackburn as being on the shortlist from the Championship this weekend.
Boro are in pursuit of second spot and travel to the division's second lowest scorers Huddersfield who sit third bottom. Michael Carrick's side are short enough at 7/10 so definitely one for the away team accas.
Coventry are making a late push for the play-offs and have been in fine form but so too have today's visitors Stoke who have climed to relative safety of 13th position after going four unbeaten so this one might be best left alone.
For a bit of value Blackburn Rovers still appeal at Birmingham this afternoon. Jon Dahl Tomasson's side have actually drifet a little since Thursday and can now be backed at 15/8 to win. They've scored two or more in five of their last six so that might be a safer approach at a tasty 2/1.
It's a tricky looking card in the Scottish Premiership this afternoon. Hibs can rarely be trusted at odds-on at home and Motherwell are in really good form under new boss Stuart Kettlewell. A draw could be on the cards at Easter Road.
Rangers are so short at 1/9 against Dundee United that there's little value to be found but James Tavernier continues to be overpriced to score. The Ibrox penalty-taker is Rangers' top scorer but there's seven ahead of him in the betting. He's handy from set-pieces too so the 6/4 (Betfair) on him finding the net in a game they should dominate isn't the worst bet at Ibrox.
On the advice of Greg on this week's Gambla Podcast it should be a low-scorer between St Johnstone and Aberdeen. Under 2.5 goals at 8/11 lands more often than not when these two meet.
Further down the divisions Falkirk, Dunfermline and Queen of the South all look solid bets make for a 7/5 League One Treble (but swap Falkirk out for Stirling – see below).
Also in League One, Airdrieonians have scored an incredible 18 goals in their last three matches and there's been a crazy 38 goals in total scored in their last seven games. They're the third highest scoring team in Scotland, behind Celtic and Rangers.
Even money on them to score two or more at Alloa can't be ignored today.
And in League Two Stirling Albion, who are now top of the table and in pole position for promotion can hammer home their advantage at Elgin City where they're 4/6.

Stockport 1-1 Salford 😂😂😂 bye bye mr know it all dont let the door bang you on that arrogant head of yours on the way out lol any man and his dog knew Salford would not win last nite wouldn’t have bet it with counterfeit 😊🙂😙🤭😉😉👍
Surely this is an April Fools and Salford ended Stockports lucky unbeaten home run 🫣
Criticising others bets while posting nothing classic. If every man and his dog knew they wouldn’t win why did you post your own tip? Absolute loser
StaggieJoe?
That guys tip was a sound tip for an outside chance. Mallan free kick late on almost snatched it for Salford. 7 -2 is massive must av been one of biggest outsider in that league this weekend. If you had a brain you would have layerd the home team or backed double chance on the away side whst was 11-10
Bayern Munich II done what was expected yesterday and won 8-1 at Wattenscheid after going 1-0 down. Back to the same country and same Regional Leagues today with another high flyer away to a relegation threatened side….
Atlas Delmenhorst v Lubeck
The home side are 2nd bottom and being 6pts from safety they’re in real danger of relegation, they welcome top dogs Lübeck who occupy the only promotion spot from this division and will be looking to maintain their lead with just 9 games to go.
Despite their obvious struggles the home side more often than not find the back of the net, they’ve managed to score in 21 of their 27 outings with 43 goals all in. However they’ve shipped 62 at the other end which can only be beaten by bottom club Kickers Emden.
Lübeck should be winning this and the hope is the home side net a consolation goal in a repeat of the 3-1 win Lübeck gained at home in the reverse fixture would be fine and dandy
Lübeck win & BTTS 2/1
Excellent write up mate as always. On it. Best of Luck 👍🔥🔥🔥
Fingers crossed Staggie, too highlight their struggles are at the back rather than up top…they scored 5 goals at home on Feb 12th and still managed to lose 😂 that was against mid table Werder Bremen II and finished 6-5.
It’ll end up 1-0 to the home side now no doubt. Good luck fella 👍

Ask yourself a question…
If it weren’t a special offer and the said market was offered at Evens would you bet on it or doubt it like you are because it’s a special offer?
Personally I think they’re always worth the punt at such odds despite the stake limit.
In this case only 3 of the last 31 H2H meetings between City and Liverpool have seen 1 goal or less, roughly a 90% strike rate
Get on it 👍
Easy to cover this bet and get a free £5 acca. Place a £10 bet on the City bet via SOTD . This will give you a free acca remember to opt in tho and after this its your 1st bet that counts. To cover i stuck £5 o u1.5 goals with PP. So i will win a £5 or £9.

Mentality monsters 😂
Like a cat toying with a little helpless mouse that – game won after an hour and liverpool so toothless. I’m sorry but VVD is a myth, good defender yes, great defender maybe, premier leagues greatest no chance – look at his positioning for every city goal and as for Trent …. Deary me
What’s happened to the quad squad of last season ……
Enjoy your Thursday nights Macca lad
Another smart statement, like a cat toying with a mouse haha made me chuckle that did lar. In all fairness to Liverpool though they are absolutely knackered, a short pre-season add to that they played every game possible last season and then a world cup added to an already packed season, add to that they have been somewhat unlucky with injuries with Diaz been side lined for 5 months, it’s all had an impact. What Jurgen Klopp has achieved though with the finances available to him is remarkable, put Pep Guardiola at the helm of a team with the same funds as Klopp and i would almost assure you he wouldn’t get anywhere near Klopp’s achievements and that’s what makes Klopp a better manager. Klopp will rebuild in the summer and go again mark my words, also what Klopp has done has been legal and within the rules, everything City have won has been bought.
All top clubs spend millions and millions macca the excuses you make for Liverpool been useless are getting ridiculous , world Cup short pre season , ever club has had these problems , the real reason your average is because your midfield is ancient and klopp faield to address it , van dijk is not the player he once was , trent is useless at defending , and since you gave salah 4000,000 a week he’s more or less gone into retirement 🤣 nothing to do with the world cup or a pre season ,
Put a good shift in over the years our midfielders, blowing teams away most of the time, not a bad return i’d say for the money spent. Everyone knows our midfield is shot that’s obvious. What is Man Utd’s excuse for the past ten years??? not spending enough money do you think it was wise of them to hire Erikson and Casemiro and Weghorst??? are these players going to win Man Utd an EPL title or a Champions league title. These players your slating have won the lot.
TBF maccathered it’s only 10 months or so you were telling everybody that Liverpool team would dominate the premier league and even Europe with City for years to come.

Tonight’s boxing tip…..
I’m not overly confident with tonight’s Joshua v Franklin fight so I’m going to place a small bet on the fight to go the distance (around 7/2).
Joshua is coming in heavy, whilst Franklin is coming in light. I’m expecting frankilin to use his lighter weight and movement to get through the first few rounds and in return should be good stead for the long-haul.
Small stakes.
