FOLLOWING one of the most remarkable results in their long and illustrious history, Liverpool's latest Premier League assignment sees them make the trip south to take on AFC Bournemouth on Saturday lunchtime.
As hosts to arch-rivals Manchester United last time out, the Reds ran riot in a remarkable 7-0 trouncing of Erik ten Hag's Red Devils.
That was the crown jewel in Liverpool's recent revival, with Jurgen Klopp's side now unbeaten in their last five league games, claiming top honours on four of those occasions.
As such, the Anfield side have moved up to fifth in the Premier League table, just three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham ahead of this weekend's visit to the Vitality Stadium
It was heartbreak for Bournemouth last week as they threw away a two-goal lead and subsequently conceded an injury time goal to Arsenal in the dying embers of a 3-2 loss at the Emirates.
That body blow coupled with results elsewhere has left the Cherries rooted to the bottom of the table with 13 rounds of fixtures left to play.
Outright Betting
AFC Bournemouth have failed to win a Premier League home game since before the World Cup break and the bookies' odds unsurprisingly suggest that sequence will continue here, with a Cherries win chalked up at 6/1 (Bet 365) while a share of the south coast spoils pays out at a best 4/1 (Betfred).
Despite triumphing in just three of their 12 top-flight road trips this term to date, Liverpool are short priced 4/9 (Bet 365) favourites to emerge from the Vitality victorious.
Betting Angles
Given the slim odds about a Liverpool success here, I'll head to the Bet Builder market and merge Liverpool to Win, Over One Liverpool Goal, and Over Zero Bournemouth Cards at 5/6 (Bet 365).
While Liverpool have had some indifferent form at times this season, they are showing some signs of life and they certainly looked like their old selves last time out in their aforementioned 7-0 shredding of Manchester United.
It's also worth pointing out that Jurgen Klopp's Reds have racked up two or more strikes in five of their last six matches in all competitions, which doesn't bode well for Bournemouth's brittle backline.
Gary O'Neil's charges have earned the unenviable tag as the leakiest defence in the division, shipping 51 goals in 25 matches, conceding multiple goals on a league-high 14 occasions.
As such, I'll back Liverpool to win and score twice in the process, but to conclude the 5/6 (Bet 365) Bet Builder, I'll also go with at least Bournemouth booking.
The Cherries have clocked up a minimum of one card in nine of their last 10 Premier League matches so a solitary caution doesn't look like too much to ask given the hosts are likely to find themselves defending for long periods here.
On a similar line of reasoning to the above, I'll also go with the 3/1 on offer with UniBet for Liverpool to Win, Liverpool Most Corners and Bournemouth Most Cards.
The above-mentioned combination clicked in Bournemouth's defeat at Arsenal last weekend and I see no reason to oppose the same wager here at an enticing price.
