Another Saturday to look forward to with a full card north and south of the border as we edge towards the business end of the season.

It all kicks-off at 12.30 when Manchester City welcome Newcastle to the Etihad. The Magpies have hit a major slump at the wrong time of the season, it's now four without a win in the league and last week's loss to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final prolonged their long wait for silverware on Tyneside.

Eddie Howe's side went toe-to-toe with City earlier in the season but let a two-goal lead slip in an entertaining 3-3 draw. The visitors' three goals that day made it 23 in the last six meetings between the sides and even though Newcastle boast the best defensive record in the top flight (15 conceded in 23, only seven lost away from home) it's just 8/15 for Pep Guardiola's side to score two or more.

With confidence drained it's hard to make a case for the visitors so a Man City win looks like one for the accas.

Mikel Arteta seems to have steadied the ship after a wobble a few weeks ago. Three wins on the bounce have re-energised Arsenal‘s push for the title and they shouldn't have too much trouble against Bournemouth this afternoon.

The Gunners are just 1/5 so there's little value to be had there. But they could rack up a few goals agianst the ailing Cherries. A goal in each half for the home side pays 5/6.

Graham Potter is a man under serious pressure. Two wins in 15 is relegation form from Cheslea. Defeat at home to Leeds this afternoon could bring his tenure at Stamford Bridge to an end. The good news for the Blues is that Leeds are in equally bad shape although it would take a brave man to be backing Chelsea at 8/13 at the moment.

Middlesbrough‘s defeat to West Brom last time out could work in our favour today. That was their first defeat in six which might have caused their price to ease a little at home to Reading today. The Royals have a terrible record away from home where they've managed just 11 points from 51. Boro look solid enough at 9/20.

In Scotland Michael Beale needs to pick up the pieces following Rangers‘ League Cup final defeat to Celtic last weekend. He's sure to make changes following criticism of his team selection, either way he should get a reaction out of his side against Kilmarnock.

The visitors have yet to win away from in the league this season and it would be a mjor surprise if they broke their duck at Ibrox this afternoon. They've won just two points on the road, from a possible 42 so even the 16/1 on them winning looks short.

They've failed to score in their last four trips to Rangers and a home win to nil pays 8/11.

Hibernian have quietly moved up the table with a run of three wins and a draw, overtaking today's opponents Livingston in the process but it's a surprise to see them clear favourites to win at the Toni Macaroni Stadium today.

David Martindale's side are admittedly in the middle of a poor run, certainly by their standards, which has seen them win just one of their last six. However it's been a tough run of fixtures which has included matches against Celtic, Rangers and Hearts and you'd expect they'll bounce back sooner rather than later. At 11/5 today they look worth taking on especially considering they've won their last three at home to the Hibees.

In League One Falkirk continue to chase down Dunfermline at the top of the table. The Bairns are unbeaten in 10, winning nine of those, and should cruise to victory against bottom side Peterhead. Falkirk have only kept two clean sheets in that run so may need to score a few to win but chances are they'll win handsomely. Three or more goals for Falkirk looks tasty at 11/10 – a tally Peterhead have shipped 14 times this season.

It's a similar story in League Two where Stirling Albion have Dumbarton in their sights. They're unbeaten in seven having won four and drawn three, up against Albion Rovers who have won just one of their last six. Doubling them with Falkirk pays just over even money.

    Bet for March

    Bristol Rovers v Barnsley

Had this game penciled in about 5 weeks now the reason being originally, to target corners.First noticed off the amount of corners were in BR matches then spotted Barnsley games were also hitting good numbers as well.

Firstly I’ll go into Barnsley being currently the leading goal scorers in the top 4 English leagues over the last 6 games scoring 16 goals. Over the last 3 games they have scored 11. Last 2 away games they have scored 7 in total. No suprise they are top of the league 1 form table currently. They have won 12 of the last 16 games since October.

The corners, BR matches over the last 5 games both teams combined read like this ( the most recent game first) 11, 13, 16, 9, 8

Barnsley matches total corners both teams combined over the last 5 games read 10,10,13, 8, 13. The match with only 8 corners had a sending off after 30 minutes for Barnsley.

Obviously stats on paper are cute but it’s always good to go that bit deeper so I looked into both sides and a player I noticed for Barnsley was their right wing-back Jordan Williams who has been getting forward as much as possible this season, actually scoring 5 goals this season and assisting 5 also which is the joint top most assists for Barnsley, his contribution to the game is helping Barnsley get corners but also he is leaving space at the back at times for the opposition to counter helping the opposition with corners for them.
The 3-5-2 formation from Barnsley with the two attacking wing backs is giving punters a great chance of hitting good numbers on the corner count especially eith BR hitting even higher numbers.
The key player I want playing for this game is Jordan Williams, if he is isn’t in the starting line up I will have no problem cashing this bet out.

Also, a big factor for a Barnsley away victory is the return from injury for Josh Benson and the Cardiff loanee striker Max Watters will be a big boost for the squad. They will be on the bench I’m sure but still great to have if needed. I’ll be shocked if Barnsley aren’t a shade of odds on by kick off

I have started 2023 off slowly with 2 losers but it was good to see my original bet from Feb which was postponed at the last minute come in during the week with an early first half goal from Salford, which gives me the confidence I was at least on the right track originally.

I have 95% of stake on
    Barnsley win
Over 1 goal in the match for Barnsley
Over 6 corners in the match both teams combined 2/1 bet365 bet builder at 2/1

Also have 5 % on Barnsley win, over 1 goal for Barnsley and over 9 corners in the match at 10/3 also with bet365.

******This was originally posted on Wednesday, the main bet is 13/8 now having been well backed as I mentioned it surely would be, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is shortened up more by 3 pm*****

    Have a good one everyone

Blackburn look a big price today at home to Sheff.U. 5/2. They have been on a good run including knocking Leicester out the cup during the week. This is a rehersal for the 1/4 final tie between the 2 so should be interesting.

Looking very much like a shoot out between Falkirk and Dunfermline to escape League one automatically, can’t see anything other than straightforward wins today. Double only pays 1.87, so trying minus 1 on Falkirk (Peterhead are awful and have shipped 58 goals so far in 26 games), boosts price to a more backable 2.58.

In the Premiership it also looks a shoot out for honours between Arsenal and Man City (no sh*t sherlock!!). Double again only 1.8, so Arsenal to cover minus 1 takes us to 2.5, happy they will cover that.

For the more adventurous (myself included) go for a combo of the above.

    Dunfermline/Falkirk minus 1 double at 2.58 – Nap
Man City/Arsenal minus 1 double at 2.5 – Joint Nap.

4 fold acca of above – 5.46 Nb.

    The hail mary – Dunfermline -1, Man City -1, Arsenal -2, Falkirk -2 – 50/1.

All skybet, best of luck all.

Yep straight shoot out between the big 2…i took the Pars at 11/4 to lift the Pot at the start of the Season , so as long as they keep winning with their current 5 point advantage that will do for me..

Big shoot out between the 2 of them when they go in against each other on Tuesday night

      Pars are at home..

    Sunderland v Stoke

Alex Neil returns to the SoL tomorrow and will get abuse from the first minute to the last. He left for more money, fair enough. But was totally disrespectful towards SAFC, whilst still employed by the club he was at Ewood Park watching the Stoke game whilst SAFC were playing Norwich. It’s worked out well for Sunderland overall.

Expecting a really feisty game. With Sunderland having a lot of possession and playing on the front foot. Ross Stewart injury and Lampard pointlessly recalling Simms is really hurting us atm. Gelhardt has missed quite a few good chances and doesn’t look like sh should be leading the line so I’m not backing goals. But again, Clarke shots on target. He’s 8.00 for 2 which is worth a few quid considering the prices of Gelhardt, paddy roberts and Amad. Main bet for the game will be

Both teams to receive 2 cards
    Over 3 Sunderland corners
    Jack Clarke shot on target

    Comes in at 5.50

Burnley, Bayern, cercle Brugge and PSG to win and over 1 goal and Leicester to score – 9.08

    Brazilian Copa Nordeste

    Both teams to score 19-20 NAP/NB 🇧🇷(Ladbrokes/corals)
can’t find a NB so it’s all eggs in one basket.

7 head to head in last 20 months seen BTTS including both serie B clashes.
They met here only last month in the other state cup these compete in (the pernambucano) and it finished 2-2 so similar would bring BTTS and over 2.5 at 13-8 into play but 1-1 would be good enough for me today.
A goal in each half has come up in 9 of last 10 head to head (10-11 at HILLS) for those that like those bets.
2-3 match goals (EVENS at HILLS) has also been a regular outcome between these in 8 of last 10 meetings.
Just the BTTS for me though.

    Liverpool v United 430pm Tomorrow
Red card in the game @ 5/1 Unibet
I think this game has red written all over it (if you’ll pardon the poor pun).. there’s so much at stake that it’ll be hell for leather. I think United will begin to show fatigue too, which could lead to some reckless challenges from Casemiro, Martinez, Fermandes, basically every outfield player!, and my head is ruling my heart insofar as I think Liverpool will win, so United will have to put themselves about moreso than usual. Today has been incredible for Liverpool too with Newcastle and Spurs losing, so there’s massive incentive for top 4.. additionally, I thought the price would be circa 3/1 (it’s 10/3 on bet365 although I haven’t checked anywhere else), so I think there’s very good value in the price too.. BoL if you follow, come on United 👹

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 2 years ago

Liverpool will win tomorrow, Newcastle are tailing off now and they do look tired top four was always going to be difficult for them in reality, I hope they at least make Europe the fans deserve it. The problem for Newcastle now though is they are close to their FFP limit so maybe they will have to sell to buy. Spurs without Bentencur are unbackable.

    Tonight’s boxing.

    Lewis Ritson v Ohara Davies.

A fight which both are at a point in their respective careers when they need each other, but neither man can afford the loss.

Davies goes into it as favourite but it’s a close fight, and I think the home advantage can be a big positive for Ritson.

Lewis Ritson to win outright is around 13/8 with most bookies. On points, Ritson to win is around 5/2.

    GL all 🤞
