El Clasico provides a nice alternative to the usual domestic action on our tellys tonight as Real Madrid and Barcelona go head-to-head in the first leg of the Copa Del Rey semi-final live on BT Sport.
The sides enjoyed mixed fortunes in England last week where Real Madrid trounced Liverpool to take a 5-2 lead into their Champions League return leg, while Barcelona exited the Europa League thanks to a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Things went from bad to worse for Barca who suffered their second defeat in the league at 15th placed Almeria on Sunday after Real dropped two points in the Madrid derby a day earlier.
That left Barca seven points clear of their great rivals in La Liga but tonight's match comes at a difficult time for Xavi's men who haven't enjoyed the greatest of weeks and have some injuries to contend with.
Top scorer Robert Lewandowski is ruled out with a hamstring injury. The Polish striker's form has dipped since the new year but that's not to say he won't be a big loss in leading the line. Barca are also without Pedri and Dembele so there's plenty of holes in Xavi's squads for the trip to Madrid.
Carlo Ancelotti's men were irresistible at Anfield last week after an early scare and with the return leg in this one not for another month they'll want to take advantage of Barca's predicament to establish another first-leg advantage.
They'll also need to reverse a trend of wins for Barca at the Bernabeu but there's no better opportunity than to do it tonight.

Yet another home tie for the Mancs and don’t underestimate how much energy that saves a team, no travelling long journeys etc etc, you would expect them to meet City in the final.
Man Utd to win the Europa league at 5/2
There is one team left in it that could cause Man Utd a problem and that’s Arsenal but these two could meet in the latter rounds, Arsenal will obviously prioritise the league so the value has to be with the mancs.
Also done the double at skybet at 9/1
Obviously these depend on players staying fit for the rest of the campaign as we know they can’t rotate to the same level as the first eleven.

Had this game penciled in about 5 weeks now the reason being to target corners.First noticed off the amount of corners were in BR matches then spotted Barnsley games were also hitting good numbers as well.
Firstly I’ll go into Barnsley being currently the leading goal scorers in the top 4 English leagues over the last 6 games scoring 16 goals. Over the last 3 games they have scored 11. Last 2 away games they have scored 7 in total. No suprise they are top of the league 1 form table currently. They have won 12 of the last 16 games since October.
Now for the corners, BR matches over the last 5 games both teams combined read like this ( the most recent game first) 11, 13, 16, 9, 8
Barnsley matches total corners both teams combined over the last 5 games read 10,10,13, 8, 13. The match with only 8 corners had a sending off after 30 minutes for Barnsley.
Obviously stats on paper are cute but I like to go that bit deeper with my bets so I looked into both sides and a player I noticed for Barnsley was their right wing-back Jordan Williams who has been getting forward as much as possible this season down the wing, actually scoring 5 goals this season and assisting 5 also which is the joint top most assists for Barnsley, his contribution to the game is helping Barnsley get corners but also he is leaving space at the back at times for the opposition to counter helping the opposition with corners for them.
The 3-5-2 formation from Barnsley with the two attacking wing backs is giving punters a great chance of hitting good numbers on the corner count especially eith BR hitting even higher numbers.
The key player I want playing for this game is Jordan Williams, if he is isn’t in the starting line up I will have no problem cashing this bet out.
I have started 2023 off slowly with 2 losers but it was good to see my original bet from Feb which was postponed at the last minute come in during the week with an early first half goal from Salford, which gives me the confidence I was at least on the right track originally.
I have 95% of stake on at the 2/1 but also have 5 % on Barnsley win, over 1 goal for Barnsley and over 9 corners in the match at 10/3 also with bet365.
Yeah I wouldn’t back them at 13/2, 11/10 is a fair price for the 1 goal as Salford do try to get that early goal. My mate is a Barrow fan and said they were the best side he had seen at Holker Street this season do they must have performed well so I’d expect the confidence to be still there from that mauling of Mansfield.
I didn’t want to back them this month as my last 2 bets have involved Salford and really had my eye on the corners for the game above. The closer it has got to the game I have really been strong on them winning the match that is why the corners are just a little boost on the odds. Wouldn’t put anyone off backing Barnsley at 11/10 think it is an amazing price, can’t see a better bet with as much confidence .
