Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the English League One, and there’s one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals at both ends.
⚽️ Plymouth Argyle vs Fleetwood Town
🏴 League One
⏰ Saturday 18th February, 15:00
Plymouth will look to maintain their position at the top of the League One table as they welcome away-day specialists Fleetwood Town to Home Park tomorrow afternoon.
Plymouth bounced back from their 1-0 defeat at title-rivals Sheffield Wednesday with a pair of 3-1 victories, firstly at home to Portsmouth and secondly away at Oxford in midweek. Steven Schumacher’s side boasts the division's best home record, incredibly winning 14 of their 15 League One matches at Home Park this season. The Pilgrims have only failed to score in that 0-2 defeat against Port Vale at home this campaign, banging in 32 goals across their other 14 fixtures in front of their supporters.
After a run of six defeats from seven League One matches, Fleetwood heads into this fixture off the back of successive victories, firstly winning 1-2 at Charlton before defeating playoff-chasing Peterborough 1-0 in midweek. Scott Brown’s visitors have lost just four times on their travels this season (W5-D6-L4), collecting 21 of their 35 points away from home. The Fishermen have failed to score in just one of their 15 league outings on the road this season, scoring 20 times.
Bet of the Day
Plymouth have been near-perfect at Home Park this season, and it’s hard to envisage them not adding to their 32 goal tally against a Fleetwood defence that has registered just three clean sheets on the road this season. However, Scott Brown’s visitors have only failed to score just once on the road this season, and they’ll be confident in finding the back of the net once more against a Plymouth defence that has registered just four clean sheets across their previous 18 League One fixtures and just two from their last 11 at home.
Both Teams to Score has banked in a league-high 11/15 (73%) of Fleetwood’s League One fixtures on the road this season – and given the same has landed in eight of Plymouth’s previous 11 league contests at home – I reckon we’ll see both of these sides get on the scoresheet in Devon tomorrow afternoon.
