BRIGHTON have hit their stride under new boss Roberto De Zerbi and can jump above Liverpool in the Premier League table if they beat the inconsistent Reds on the south coast.
The Italian failed to win any of his first five games in charge but has since racked up six victories in nine games to make Seagulls fans forget about Graham Potter.
The goals have been flying in for Brighton, with 14 scored in their last four games, so they will fancy their chances against a Liverpool defence that has been looking vulnerable.
Jurgen Klopp's side seem to have lost their mojo this season and the Anfield giants have won just two of their five games since returning from the World Cup break.
Those victories over Aston Villa and Leicester were also far from convincing and Klopp needs to shore up a rearguard that has been leaking goals and is now missing Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool have shipped 10 goals in their last five games and only a controversial offside call saved them from a shock FA Cup defeat at home to Wolves last time out.
They badly need a win in Brighton and it bodes well for a thrilling game as both these teams always look to play on the front foot.
How the bookies view it
Liverpool would normally be odds-on for a win at Brighton but their poor recent form has them at 11/10 with Coral. Brighton's best price is 5/2 at William Hill while the draw pays 14/5 with Unibet.
Recent head to head
De Zerbi's first game was against Liverpool at Anfield and we were treated to a 3-3 thriller. That made it three games without defeat at Anfield for the Seagulls who have lost just once in their last five meetings with Klopp's side. But their home record isn't as good and the Reds have gone seven games without defeat on the south coast, winning six of those matches.
Players to watch
World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister has returned from Qatar with his confidence sky high and netted twice in the FA Cup win at Middlesbrough last weekend. The Argentinian midfielder takes Brighton's free-kicks and penalties so looks overpriced at 5/1 with Paddy Power for anytime scorer.
I thought Darwin Nunez's luck in front of goal would finally turn against Wolves and Klopp will be hoping his superbly-taken strike will now spark a scoring run. The Uruguayan is 7/4 with Bet365 for another goal in this one.
Anything else catch the eye?
I cashed in by backing over 1.5 first-half goals when Liverpool won at Aston Villa and that bet has now landed in their last six games. It has also come up in three of the last four Brighton matches so it could pay to back a repeat here at 7/5 with Ladbrokes.
The offside markets are always worth a look with Liverpool playing such a high defensive line and over 4.5 match offsides pays 7/5 with Unibet. The same firm also offer 29/20 on over 2.5 Brighton offsides.
We only saw two yellow cards when these sides faced off at Anfield earlier this season, with one apiece to each side. Both teams are 10/11 with Bet365 for under 1.5 cards here, with Brighton probably more appealing for that bet.
