Torino continue their Coppa Italia campaign with a round of 16 trip to Serie A champions AC Milan. The Rossoneri have been slightly off their game lately but are still expected to have too much for Torino, who have also been erratic in recent weeks.
AC Milan warmed up for Wednesday’s clash after playing out a 2-2 draw with Roma in Serie A last Sunday. They let slip a two-goal lead from Pierre Kalulu and Tomasso Pobega and were pegged back late in the encounter.
Manager Stefano Pioli will be disappointed to have thrown away the lead as AC Milan are now seven points off the pace in Serie A. However, they are still generally in good form and are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 Serie A matches.
AC Milan have done some of their best work at the San Siro, where they have claimed four wins and a draw from their last five matches across all competitions. However, they have been vulnerable at the back, keeping just one clean sheet in that run.
Torino have played through every round of the Coppa Italia, overcoming two lower league sides to book their place in Wednesday’s clash. They claimed a 3-0 victory over Palermo before easing to a 4-0 win over Cittaddela in the previous round.
The Turin club travel to San Siro unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions, although four of those fixtures have been draws. They played out a 1-1 draw at Salernitana in a Serie A fixture on Sunday with Antonio Sanabria’s first half effort cancelled out by the hosts.
Torino have also done some good work on their travels lately and are unbeaten in their last four away matches. However, like AC Milan, they have struggled defensively, keeping just one clean sheet on the road all season.
How the bookies view it
The bookies have installed AC Milan as overwhelming favourites with a home win priced at 3/5 with bet365. A victory for Torino is valued at 5/1 with Betfred while William Hill is offering odds of 3/1 for a draw.
Head to head
AC Milan have a 22-4 advantage with 19 draws from 45 previous matches with Torino. The Turin club claimed a 2-1 victory in a Serie A fixture back in October but Milan have won the last five meetings at the San Siro.
Players to watch
Rafael Leao remains the most dangerous attacker for AC Milan and will be the one to watch on Wednesday. The forward has scored in two of his last three appearances for the Rossoneri and is priced at 2/1 with Paddy Power.
Antonio Sanabria often leads the line for Torino and could be worth keeping an eye on. The forward was on target last time out at Salernitana and is priced at 9/2 by William Hill to find the net on Wednesday.
Anything else catch the eye?
With AC Milan and Torino struggling defensively both teams could be backed to score at evens with William Hill. There were over 2.5 goals in the meeting back in October and a repeat is priced at 19/20 with bet365 while BetVictor is offering odds of 13/5 for over 3.5 goals.
Given the minimal odds for a straight AC Milan victory, a win and over 2.5 goals should offer more value at 8/5 with bet365.
