Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to Ligue 1, and there’s one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Two sides who’ve had contrasting campaigns in Ligue so far this season meet at the Stade de la Meinau as 18th-placed Strasbourg host sixth-placed Lorient.
Despite racing into a two-goal lead, Strasbourg failed to collect just their second win in Ligue 1 this season, as they were beaten 4-2 by fellow strugglers Ajaccio. That result left Le Racing inside the relegation zone, two points adrift of safety. Julien Stéphan’s side have shipped 25 goals across their opening 14 league matches this season, collecting just the solitary clean sheet. However, Strasbourg have found the back of the in 11/14 of their Ligue 1 tussles this season, netting on multiple occasions in four of their previous five.
After winning eight of their opening 10 Ligue 1 tussles this season, Régis Le Bris’s visitors come into this encounter without a win in each of their previous four. It’s also back-to-back defeats for the Brittany side, as they followed up their 1-2 loss at home to Nice with a defeat to reigning champions PSG by the same scoreline. Régis Le Bris’ men have managed only three clean sheets this season, with just one of those coming in their previous nine. However, Lorient have found the back of the net in 13/14 of their Ligue 1 matches this season, netting on multiple occasions in nine of them.
Bet of the Day
Lorient come into this fixture without a win in each of their previous four Ligue 1 fixtures but faces a struggling Strasbourg side that’s in the relegation zone and who has won just once this season. Neither team have been tight defensively in recent weeks, and given both rarely fail to score, I reckon we could be in for an entertaining fixture here.
Collectively, Over 2.5 Goals has landed in 19/28 of their Ligue 1 fixtures this season, and given both teams' records at either end of the pitch in recent weeks, I reckon there’s a good chance we’ll see at least three strikes in Alsace with both getting on the scoresheet.
