Roma are aiming to strengthen their grip at the top of Serie A as they travel to Udinese on Sunday.
The hosts have also made a decent start to the season but could find things difficult against a confident Roma, who have a solid record in this fixture.
Udinese were victorious in their previous Serie A fixture as they picked up a 1-0 win over Fiorentina. They struck early in the contest through Beto and had to weather some pressure from La Viola to hold on to the win.
Andrea Sottil’s men appear to be getting their campaign back on track after failing to win their opening two matches of the season. They have now won their last two fixtures having claimed a 2-1 victory at newly promoted Monza prior to the clash with Fiorentina.
One problem that appears to have carried on from last season is Udinese’s dodgy record at Dacia Arena. The win over Fiorentina was their first in five Serie A home matches, a run that includes fixtures against the likes of Spezia and Salernitana.
It may still be early days in the campaign but Roma are looking like a side to be taken seriously this season. They are still unbeaten after four matches and are currently sitting joint top alongside Atalanta.
The capital club were rampant in their midweek Serie A fixture as they claimed a 3-0 victory over newly promoted Monza. Paulo Dybala opened his account with a first half brace while Roger Ibanez added the third midway through the second half.
Defensive solidity is at the heart of Jose Mourinho’s managerial ethos and the gaffer will be pleased that Roma have kept three clean sheets in their opening four matches. The budding partnership between Dybala and Tammy Abraham will also be pleasing to the boss with both players combining for two goals already this season.
How the bookies view it
Roma have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced at 19/20 by SBK to claim the win. Udinese are considered outsiders at home at 10/3 with BetVictor while a draw is set at odds of 13/5 by William Hill.
Recent head to head
Udinese and Roma battled to a 1-1 draw in the most recent fixture at home back in March. However, Roma have won the last three meetings, keeping clean sheets in all three wins.
Players to watch
The budding partnership between Tammy Abraham and Paulo Dybala will be worth keeping an eye on and are both off the mark this season. SBK has Abraham at 17/12 to score anytime while Paddy Power is offering 15/8 on Dybala in the same market.
Roma have also been solid on the defensive side of things, keeping clean sheets in three of their four matches this season. Chris Smalling is likely to start in central defence alongside Gianluca Mancini and both men can lead the visitors to another clean sheet at 15/8 with BoyleSports.
Anything else catch the eye?
Given Roma’s solid defensive showing this season, BTTS NO could be considered at 5/4 with BetVictor. The capital club have also won to nil in three of their last four matches with Udinese and could be set for a repeat at 13/5 with BetVictor.
Given Roma’ result last time out against Monza, a -1 handicap can also be considered at 5/2 with BetVictor.
