Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me head to Iceland and I’ve picked out two sides who I fancy to make the net bulge at least twice.
Grindavík vs Thór
🇮🇸 1. Deild
⏰ Wednesday 27th July, 19:00
Grindavík will look to keep up their strong home record, as they play host to third from bottom Thór at the Grindavíkurvöllur.
After going unbeaten in their opening seven league fixtures, Grindavík lost for the fourth time in their last six matches, as they were on the wrong end of a nine-goal thriller at home to in-form Afturelding. That loss last time out was their first defeat at home this season, with Alfred Elias Jóhannsson’s winning four and drawing two of their previous six games in front of their own supporters. Grindavík have scored 17 times at home this season, scoring on multiple occasions in 6/7 of them, including in each of their last five.
Thór claimed their first away victory at the sixth time of asking last time out, as they defeated ninth-placed Kórdengir 2-4. Prior to that win, Thorlákur Már Árnason’s side had collected just a solitary point from their opening five away fixtures, losing four of them. Thór have leaked a remarkable 20 goals in those six opening away fixtures this season, conceding two or more in all six and three or more in five of those tussles.
HK Kopavogur vs Grótta
🇮🇸 1. Deild
⏰ Wednesday 27th July, 20:15
HK will look to retain their position at the top of the 1. Deild table, as they play host to fourth-placed Grótta at Kórinn.
HK claimed their eighth win from their last 10 league matches last time out, as they came from behind to win 1-2 at Selfoss. After losing their opening home match 2-3 to Selfoss in the reverse fixture between the two, Ömar Ingi Gudmundsson’s side have gone to win each of their next five fixtures in front of their own supporters. HK have found the back of the net 16 times in those six home fixtures, scoring on multiple goals in each occasion.
Grótta’s struggles away from home continued last time out, as they lost 3-1 against seventh-placed Vestri. Englishman Christopher Brazell has saw his side collect just four points from a possible 18 away from home this season (W1-D1-L4) and come into this match having lost each of their last three on their travels. Grótta have so far conceded 11 goals goals in those six away league outings, conceding on multiple occasions in four of them.
Bet of the Day
Grindavík may come into this having won just one of their last six, but they’ve lost just once at home this season and I reckon they trouble a Thór side that’s won just once in their travels this season. Grindavík have scored on multiple occasions in 6/7 of their home fixtures this season and look a good bet to bad another brace saints a Thór defence that’s already shipped 20 goals in their opening six away fixtures this season.
HK come into this having won eight of their last 10 in the league and they’ll look to make it six home wins in-a-row against a Grótta side that tend to struggle on their travels. HK have scored on multiple occasions in all six of their home fixtures, scoring 16 goals and there’s every chance they’ll score another double against a Grótta side that’s won just once away from home so far this season and who have let in six goals in their last two road trips.
