Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the Irish Premier Division and there’s a match I like the look of for goals at both ends.
Bohemians vs Drogheda United
🇮🇪 Premier Division
⏰ Friday 27th May, 19:45
Two sides sitting in mid-table of the Irish Premier Division meet at Dalymount Park, as Bohemians play host to Drogheda. The hosts come into this in seventh position, one place and three points above their visiting opponents.
Bohemians lost for the second successive match away from home last time out, as they were comfortably defeated 3-0 by St Patrick’s Athletic. Keith Long’s side have won each of their last two at home against UCD and Sligo, but prior to that, they had only won one of their previous six on their own patch. Bohemians have only kept three clean sheets from their opening 17 league fixtures, with just one of them coming in their previous nine matches and that came against bottom side UCD. Bohs have only failed to score twice this season, scoring in all eight of their games on home turf.
Drogheda backed up their 2-1 win against Finn Harps by ending league leaders Shamrock Rovers 13-match unbeaten run, by inflicting a 1-0 defeat on the reigning champions. Kevin Doherty’s side have won just once away from home this season (against UCD) and come into this having lost each of their last three on their travels. Drogheda have recorded just three clean sheets this season, with only bottom side UCD (37) conceding more than their tally of 30. The Drogs have failed to score five times this season but come into this finding the back of the net in 10 of their last 12.
Bet of the Day
These two sides come into this match lying in mid-table and both have been plagued with inconsistency so far this term. The visitors do come into this having won each of their last two, including an eye-catching victory over the league leaders Shamrock, and given they’ve found the back of the net in 10 of their last 12 in the league, there’s a good chance they’ll score against a Bohemians side who’s only clean sheet in their last nine came against bottom side UCD. Kevin Doherty’s side do have the second-worst defence in the division and with Bohemians having scored in 15/17 of their league matches this season, including all eight at home, they should also net. Therefore, I’m happy to back both sides to find the back of the net in Dublin on Friday evening, just like they did in the reverse fixture just last month.
