Atalanta host RB Leipzig in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie with the game perfectly poised at 1-1. The Italians have not been particularly convincing at home lately and given Leipzig's recent record on the road, will fancy their chances of coming out in top.
Atalanta failed to build on their fast start in the first leg and were held to a 1-1 draw in Germany. They took an early lead through Luis Muriel but an unfortunate second half own-goal from Davide Zappacosta ensured the game ended even.
Although the tie is still open, Atalanta do not head into Thursday’s second leg in good form and are winless in their last three matches across all competitions. They have suffered two defeats in that run and were beaten 2-1 by Sassuolo in Serie A last Sunday.
Atalanta have also found things difficult at home lately and are winless in their last two matches at Gewiss Stadium. Maurizio Sarri’s men were beaten 3-1 by Napoli in their previous fixture in front of their fans.
Although RB Leipzig will be disappointed not to have claimed a first leg advantage, they showed good character to fight back for the draw.
Leipzig have been in good form lately and travel to Atalanta unbeaten in their last 12 matches across all competitions. They have claimed eight wins in that run and beat Hoffenheim 3-0 in the Bundesliga last Sunday with Christopher Nkunku once again among the goals.
Domenico Tedesco’s men have done some of their best work on the road in recent weeks, winning their last six away matches across all competitions. They have also found goals easy to come by in this run with a couple of 6-1 victories over Hertha Berlin and Greuther Furth while they also beat Dortmund 4-1 in their previous away match.
