Ross County vs Aberdeen

, KO: 19:45 Feb 1, 2022, Victoria Park
Aberdeen

DAYS after one of their most remarkable results in recent times, Ross County play host to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Tuesday night.

As hosts to league leaders Rangers last time out, Malky Mackay's men twice came from behind in a barnstorming contest to bag a well-deserved 3-3 draw.

That means the Staggies have avoided defeat in four of their last six league games, a sequence that has helped ease any potential fears of relegation, moving them five points clear of the bottom two.

County will now be hoping to continue their upward curve by claiming all three points at home against Aberdeen this midweek.

The Dons appeared to be trending in the right direction ahead of the winter break and many would argue that the visitors were unlucky not to come away with all three points when they resumed their campaign against Rangers with a 1-1 draw.

However, it turned out to be a false dawn for Stephen Glass' side as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at St Mirren last week, on a night where my recommended Bet Builder banked.

Outright Betting

Ross County, who have lost just one of their last six Scottish Premiership home games, enter this contest as 28/13 (SBK) outsiders while a repeat of August's stalemate between the pair has been priced up at 21/10 (SBK).

Despite triumphing in just one of their last 10 top flight road trips, Aberdeen arrive in Dingwall as 31/21 (SBK) favourites.

Betting Angles

It's hard to be tempted about Aberdeen winning this match but dipping into the Asian goal line we can see it set at 2.0, 2.5 and that looks like an enticing alternative at even-money (Bet 365).

Here we would only lose our full stake if there are zero or one goals scored in the game and that makes plenty of appeal given the amount of goals Ross County games have been generating this season.

Malky Mackay's side have entertained Scottish Premiership crowds all season, with a whopping 16 of their 23 fixtures thus far delivering profit for Over 2.5 Goals punters.

What's more, no fewer than seven of the Staggies' last eight top flight tussles have featured three or more goals and I see no reason to oppose a repeat when Aberdeen come to town.

The Dons have improved when it comes to their attacking output this season, with Stephen Glass's side striking 16 of their 22 league games to date, but clean sheets remain an issue, with the visitors posting just one shutout in 11 attempts when playing away from their Pittodrie base.

With that in mind, coupled with the fact that County have kept their sheets clean on only four occasions all season, I'm more than happy to side with Over 2.0, 2.5 goals on the Asian line at an appetising price.

I'll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market and take the rather generous looking 10/3 on offer with Bet 365 for Ross County's Regan Charles-Cook to get on the scoresheet.

The County winger maintained his place as the Scottish Premiership's leading marksman after notching against Rangers last time out, so the 10/3 (Bet 365) on him to breach an Aberdeen rearguard that is far from reliable looks a little too big to turn down.
