Queen of the South vs Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Scottish Championship, KO: 19:45 Nov 19, 2021, PalmertsonINVERNESS were the early pace setters in the SPFL Championship but have started to flag in the promotion race and need a win at Queen of the South to get back on track.
Last weekend's shock defeat at home to basement boys Dunfermline, which saw two of my weeekend tips land, made it five games without a win for Caley Thistle.
However, with the top of the table becoming increasingly congested, Billy Dodds' men head into the weekend fixtures sitting just four points behind leaders Kilmarnock.
Victory at Palmerston in this Friday night TV game would take the Highlanders back above Raith into second yet struggling Queens are also desperate for three points as they bid to end a slump of their own.
It's now six games without a win for the Doonhamers, although draws in their last two outings against high-flying Raith and Arbroath suggest the players are still fighting for manager Allan Johnston.
Queen of the South currently sit in the relegation play-off spot but a victory here would lift them up to sixth so the stakes couldn't be higher for both teams.
How the bookies view it
Inverness are 11/10 favourites at 888Sport but I'd be wary of backing them on current form and you also have to factor in the long trip down from the Highlands.
The best price for a Queens win is 11/4 at Bet365 while the draw appeals at 47/20 (Mansionbet) given it's three stalemates in the last five for both of these teams.
Recent head to head
Caley Thistle have bossed this fixture in recent seasons, winning six of the last eight meetings. It ended 1-1 when Inverness last visited Palmerston in April while Dodds' men beat Queens 2-1 in the Highlands (below) earlier this season.
Players to watch
Queens boss Johnston has been left to bemoan a lack of killer instinct so far this season with his side scoring just 12 times in 14 Championship games. But on-loan Kilmarnock striker Innes Cameron netted last weekend and could be their best bet for a goal here due to his physical presence.
Backing Billy Mackay for a goal paid off for me last weekend and Dodds will be hoping the former Northern Ireland international can now go on a run of goals. The bookies haven't priced up scorer markets yet but I'll keep my eyes peeled.
Anything else catch the eye?
With both teams out of form I'd be surprised if this was a thriller. Under 2.5 goals is only worth it for accas at a best 8/11 with SportingIndex but betting against BTTS is better at 19/20 with BetVictor.
Chances could be at a premium as the teams size each other up and that makes the half-time draw appealing at 21/20 with SBK.
McBookie have a card market priced up and it's worth dipping into with both sides desperate for a victory. Roberto Nditi has three yellows from his last nine games for Queens and is 11/4 to be carded here.

Regarding this game ,last week against us(Arbroath) we dominated queens but they were very good at counter attacks and should’ve scored 1 or 2 attempts, definitely see this game as btts, good luck.
