FOR the past couple of years a Daily Record readers has sent me tips on events such as cycling – and they've been pretty good.
So with the Tour de France about to get under way I though I'd sure Peter Tuck's thoughts on the big event with you.
Peter writes “The Tour de France starts on Saturday and pre-race favourite is Team Sky's Chris Froome who is a miserly 4-5 with Paddy Power.
“Bearing in mind the race is over 2000 miles, three weeks duration and 180 riders that's helluva skinny.
“I don't feel Chris has enough back-up from his Sky team in the mountain stages, although I have backed him earlier at 7-2. However, 4-5 is not worth it.
“So away from Froome and it's best to look for some each-way value. I have taken Ryder Hesjedal at 80-1, bearing in mind he won last year's Tour of Italy for me at 50s. He had a poor Italian race this year, due to illness, and will be out to make up for this doubts about his fitness.
“I have also taken Joaquim Rodriguez, a leading Spanish rider, at 20-1, and an up-and-coming young rider Teejay van Gaderen at 33-1. This should be exciting and I expect to get some kind of return.”

Meanwhile, Coral say punters are putting their faith in Team Sky, despite the absence of last year’s winner Sir Bradley Wiggins. Froome is their odds-on favourite at 4-6 to become the second British winner of the Tour while it is 8-1 Team Sky finishes first and second.
With Froome installed as the one to beat during this gruelling contest, punters are also taking 8-13 about him winning two or more stages.
Mark Cavendish is expected to push Peter Sagan all the way for the green jersey and has been supported to claim it back at 11-10 after winning it two years ago. Here are Coral's main markets.

Is Peter tipping each way on all three?
Best to go ew, apart from Froome.
Pete
Hesjedal has had a recent crash, and has gone out in the betting, so not sure if he will do well now. Rodriguez is now my best bet for Le Tour.
But wath out for Van Garderen.
Pete.
Peter, thanks for the tips. I’ll watch out for them and the concensus does seem to be Froome but not at that price so an each-way bet looks the best option.
Can you bet on the first one to be busted for drugs?
Busted collarbone perhaps?
Pete.
Back vettel to win the British grand prix at 11/10 because if an Englishman wins they refund bets
