BOOKIES are reporting solid support for the Lions to win the opening Test on Saturday morning and William Hill have cut them from 4-6 to 8-13.
According to Hills 72 per cent of clients are backing the Brits to beat Australia and bet365 have cut the Lions to 4-7 despite their midweek loss to Brumbies.
None of Saturday's starters featured in that defeat and the Lions look strong to me and determined to get off to a flier in their hunt for a series win.
I remember watching the Aussies lose to Scotland last year in heavy rain and wondered how the Lions would fared that day. Rain is forecast for Brisbane on Saturday morning and that will suit the Lions' heavier pack.
I'll be on the Lions at a biggest 8-13 with Hills and Ladbrokes and I even fancy the 3-1 from Paddy Power on a series whitewash.

That was close – Aussies really unlucky, to be honest. They gave everything, but that’s as good as they can get. Can’t see Australia getting so close again. They’re the walking wounded out there.
The UHT, been watching in the pub, tough sitting there with a coke. Good result in the end and I can see 3-0 now unless the third game is a dead rubber which the Lions aren’t fully motivated for.
Mr F – I’d expect the Lions to be more motivated at 2-0 up than Australia at 2-0 down. Getting the 3-0 whitewash is a real motivator compared to getting a game on the board in a dead rubber. Mind you, that’s putting the cart before the horse in terms of the second test!
The UHT, I suppose the Lions would love the whitewash and the Aussies would be wanting to avoid it. Need to get the second Test over first.
The French ref will make a difference to those ‘interpretation’ issues in the second test. Can only see that helping the Lions.
