Asian Handicap betting is becoming more and more popular with punters as it eliminates the draw – a result that has killed many an accumulator – so if you're new to this market check out my new guide to Asian Handicaps and how they work over here.
In League One Southampton will be the first name on many punters' accumulators. Their manager Nigel Adkins reckons they're primed for the run-in and a creditable point at Upton Park confirmed them to be out of the slump that saw them pick up just two points from nine.
Worryingly they hadn't won at home since Boxing Day but a 2-0 win over Barnsley reversed that trend last week and the acquisition of Billy Sharp could be a masterstroke. Alongside Rickie Lambert he should fire the Saints to victory against a Derby side who look to be heading in the wrong direction again.
The Rams are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the division (33 goals in 30 games) so don't expect them to cause Jos Hoovield and Co too much trouble at the back. As long and Lambert and Sharp have their shooting boots on Southampton are worth siding with on the Asian Handicap (-1) of a start at 1.89 with 188Bet
In Germany Bayern Munich are chasing down their 23rd Bundesliga and need to keep winning to stay with Dortmund who are two points clear. They should enjoy a routine victory at bottom of the table Freiburg on Saturday afternoon and can beat the handicap set at (-1.5) at 188Bet.
Die Roten's recent record against Freiburg is impeccable with 11 wins from 11. They knocked seven unreplied past them back in September and have won by more than the one goal we require in seven of those 11 victories. Add Bayern to the treble at 1.95.
Finally on Sunday in Portugal take a look at Porto who travel to lowly Vitoria Setubal in a 6.15 kick-off. Hulk and his team-mates will be desperate to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to Man City and the team second bottom of the league are in the firing line.
History tells us it should be a comfortable win for Vítor Pereira's men. Like the aforementioned Bayern they've an unblemished recent record against Sunday's opponents with 13 wins on the bounce in this fixture at an aggregate score of 36-6.
The last four meetings at Estádio do Bonfim have seen Porto win by at least three goals. A repeat would do nicely as I recommend backing them on the split handicap (-1.5/-2.0) at odds of 2.23 with 188Bet.
Selectabet's Asian Handicap Treble
- Southampton (-1) at 1.89
- Bayern Munich (-1.5) at 1.95
- Porto (-1.5/-2.0) at 2.33
- Back the treble which returns £82.19 for a £10 stake
really dont get that asian handicap betting, does that mean if game finishes draw your still a winner?
Daniel, that’s not the case. If the match is a draw after your handicap is applied your stake is refunded. This is really handicap betting but not as simple as -1 or -2. You will often have a 0.25 or 0.5 handicap. If the handicap is 0 and the match is a draw then you get your full stake back. It’s a good market so try to follow the guide and make sense of it.
