ANDY MURRAY lines up in US Open fourth-round action tonight against an opponent he’s already beaten in both meetings this year.

The British No.1 is 2-13 at Marathonbet to rack up another win over South African beanpole Kevin Anderson, a 6-1 underdog at Sportingbet.

Donald Young will hope the partisan home crowd can inspire him to a shock over Stan Wawrinka while Richard Gasquet will fancy his chances of knocking out Tomas Berdych.

Jo Konta is dreaming of more heroics as she bids to become the first British women since 1984 to reach a Grand Slam quarter-final.

Konta is 4-1 at BetVictor to claim another scalp against Petra Kvitova, the 1-5 favourite at William Hill.

Elsewhere today there’s One-Day Cup cricket and Tour of Spain cycling among the sporting highlights so post your tips and thoughts here and good luck with your bets.

    Morning gents,

Just want to chuck this out there to get some opinions.

Next week, LSU is playing at Mississippi State. The line was originally LSU -3 and within an hour, that has changed to LSU -2.

I for one is considering backing the Bulldogs to win with the reason being that they are coming off a 34-16 win against Southern Miss in week 1. Although this is by no means an impressive display, but at least they know what to work on going into the game against LSU. LSU on the other hand, had their first game cancelled meaning they will open the season with a very tough game away.

Another game that caught my fancy was Boise State playing away at BYU.

BYU lost star senior QB for the year after last week’s last-gasp victory at Nebraska, in the process, ending the longest active streak of opening day victory. Loosing Hill is a massive blow to the cougar’s fast paced offence, however, I have been looking forward to watching Tanner play for a very long time and he certainly did not disappoint when he came in for the injured Hill. Tanner, a freshman coming back from a 2 year mission in Chile, he looked poise in the pocket and at times, flashed enough athletic ability to effectively run the cougar’s fast paced offense.

One can argue that last season serves as an indication of how this game will pan out given when the Cougars lost Hill for the season in the 4th game, they lost the next 4 on the trot before limping into a bowl game at 8-5 where they eventually lost to Memphis. I however, believe that BYU would have learned from last year’s experience and they have had a lot of seniors return for this season having completed their missions. With the return of seniors, comes experience and leadership and I think the whole team will want to rally and win for Taysom. Lastly, I think the cougar’s 2015 season will be different to their 2014 season even with the loss of their star QB because head coach Bronco has resumed DC duties for the 15 season. Bronco may not be the best HC but he certainly is one of the better DCs around coolege football, and I can see this BYU team grinding out a home win or at least covering the 3 points next weekend.

If anyone has any thoughts on this, that will be much appreciated :)

    Ad, Magic Malcolm

Is it just me who thinks gasquet is well overpriced tonight

  9. DK 3 years ago

Mixed day yesterday. Good on the tennis but backed wales, and iceland were the only ones to let down my 25/1 acca.

    Todays bets:

    Gasquet berdych over 3.5 sets

    0.8/1 treble

    Mixed longshot:

    Surrey (cricket inplay)
    Rep ireland (football)
    Gasquet berdych over 3.5

    £10 return £243

  10. Ad 3 years ago

I seriously considered gasquet but berdych owns the h2h lately and the win over Tomic is perhaps not as impressive as it looks. He could barely move after his tussle with Hewitt. Kokkinakis nearly knocked Reechard out and Berdych is a much better version of him.

  11. Ellis 3 years ago

The major pull for me is the fact that I watched berdych recently against dolgopolov and Young and against young inparticular he was absolutely shocking. Richard is in half decent form and hoping for one of those berdych performances

  12. Ad 3 years ago

Ellis- gasquet can definitely win, and I’ll be keeping an eye on it in play, I just find it hard to have much confidence about it.

  13. Dazzler 3 years ago

Dodgers o7.5 hits @ 1.66 (double stakes) *lost*

    Brewers o8.5 hits @ 1.68 *won*
    Dodgers o7.5 hits @ 1.66 *lost*

    Double @ 2.81 (100% stake) *lost*

I can’t believe Dodgers didn’t go over the line. I watch the game from about the 4th inning and Padres pitching was terrible. Dodgers should have absolutely smashed them about. Personally I don’t think they’ll have a chance in the post season but are 4th favorites at the moment.

  14. Dazzler 3 years ago

As well nothing from me tonight. I’m still annoyed about last night so I wouldn’t be betting with a clear head.

    • Dazid316 3 years ago

Dazzler I feel your pain, as Clippard done my bet for a 2nd time this season, when at A’s now Mets. Dodgers only have 2 things good for them Kershaw/Greinke the other pitchers are poor and batting has been poor too, no killer instinct in games.

  15. Dazzler 3 years ago

I think they were 3 for 13 in scoring possitions. It was another game were they weren’t aggressive at the plate and just took strikes.

  16. Ad 3 years ago

I wouldn’t say Gasquet is past it. I might even say he is playing better than he ever has. The problem is that’s his best just isn’t good enough to beat the best. Berdych doesn’t come into that category so Reechard has a chance. And I won’t be at all surprised to see him win (esp considering the losses to young and dolgo pointed to above). But equally berdych could roll him if he’s really firing.

Pennetta You have to fancy to take down Stosur, given how much she enjoys it here and Stosurs habit of folding, and of course the whitewash head to head in the Italians favour.

Young I expect to lose in 3, possibly 4. That’s more based on his energy levels than Wawrinkas form though.

  17. Jordan 3 years ago

BigB, you and Tyler (Picksix) are probably the only two who are clued up on the college ball mate. Nice write up though keep it up.

  18. Humble tipper 3 years ago

Big B. What do you think of Ohio State scoring 33.5 points tonight at Virginia Tech? I’m a bit hesitant because Ohio only lost once last year, against this team. Payback coming from Elliot, Jones and co?

  24. Ellis 3 years ago

It was completely unnecessary. But after a long day at work it out a smile on my face mate ….

  25. Ellis 3 years ago

I see that he who should not be named is losing to wawrinka. 3-0 on the cards

  26. Ad 3 years ago

Punter- whata letdown that was in the end. Didn’t see them losing after taking the first but they’ve burned us in the end. Don’t normally bet on doubled and may have to revert to that policy after that!

  27. Ad 3 years ago

Iddy- no guarantees but the 3-0 looks good and did so beforehand given youngs efforts so far this fortnight. I’ll try and watch a bit to gauge stans level going into the quarters

  28. Ad 3 years ago

  29. Lord Clegg 3 years ago

  31. Ad 3 years ago

Stan the man looking seriously uninspired right now

  32. Ad 3 years ago

Halep is looking pretty uncomfortable. Her movement seems a step off her usual pace to me and she’s getting very frustrated. Hoping she turns this one round as one of my strongest lee tournament picks :/ though that was largely due to her draw! ..Halep does fail to convince me from time to time. Liskci will lose if Halep just picks herself up here

  33. Lord Clegg 3 years ago

I can see her coming back to win – normally I’d take that 7/4 but my pennies are spent for today

  34. Iddy 3 years ago

Ad – thoughts on Isner to win a set v Fed. It’s 11-10 on will hill. Got to be worth a shout especially with the way Isner is returning and he seemed really up for it in his post match interview on court. He had some fighting talk for Fed.

    • Ad 3 years ago

Hmm id no Iddy. 4/5 times he gets a decent return in play he is going to
Win the point. And he is a great returner of big servers. Isner will do very well to feet a look at a break point, so will have to take a set on a breaker you would have thought. Rog has an excellent breaker record this year, and I would favour him as he you have to think be will drop fewer points behind serve than isner. But it’s clearly not out of Isners reach. If guess 3-0 fed, but 3-1 wouldn’t be a surprise. And after cilic smashed his way past fed here last year I’m taking nothing for granted!

  35. Humble tipper 3 years ago

Ezekiel Elliot To Rush For 150+ Yards, 2+ TD’s And Ohio State Buckeyes To Win @ 3/1 @ PP – 1 point

    • Nick 3 years ago

Been watching inside Ohio state training today trying to learn something about college football haha, does 365 have the same markets as paddy on it?

      • BigB 3 years ago

Nick, if you want to learn about college football, just watch a game, you learn so much more aha. But inside training camp is also a great programme!

        • Nick 3 years ago

          Will do tonight mate!
Going to put my profit from Germany o2.5 tgs on him for interest haha

  37. Jordan 3 years ago

Nick, the best bit of knowledge you should know about college football is that the elite running backs can rarely be stopped. Especially Elliot. I think he could be on for the Heisman this year (the Ballon d’Or of college football). 365 won’t have any prop bets for this game. It’s a PP special.

    • Nick 3 years ago

Just watched a few videos of him and it looks like his O-line are a big part of his success, not sure how transfers and stuff works in this but did they keep hold of most of them?

  38. Ad 3 years ago

Good girl Halep. A little worried about Azarenka in the next round but hopefully Simona will battle trough

  39. Jordan 3 years ago

The o-line help any running back but he is a hole finder, and once he hits it he’s gone. They’ve lost one starter from last years offensive line.

  40. Iddy 3 years ago

Ad – I have gone 4 points on isner to win a set and 1 point for the outright win.
Fed is my fav player, so if he wins 3-0, I’ll take the hit. Think it will be close though. Fed will struggle to return his serve I reckon. Think it’ll be 4 or 5sets with a couple breakers thrown in.

  41. BigB 3 years ago

Jordan, I may not be best placed to give comments about the fixture since I only really started watching the Buckeyes as they progressed in the College Bowl last season, but here are what I think about the game.

I have no doubt they will win the game, but I am not so sure they will cover the handicap. There are 2 reasons to this, one is because they are playing away at V-tech and two, because it is their first game of the season (just look at how supposed favorites fared this weekend just gone.Think Stanford, Arizona State, Nebraska, and TCU and Auburn stuttered)

I don’t think last year’s fixture will have much significance on this game given they played each other in week 2 last season, when JT Barrett was making his first start after Braxton Miller was injured in game 1. The one thing that should consider though, is that the Buckeyes lost Devon Smith and Michael Bennett to the NFL. Both of whom were significant contributors in the Buckeyes journey to National Champs.

As an alternative, you might see value in the under total. Ohio State has a dominant defense even if Joey Bosa is suspended. They have a young team and the majority would have played in the CFB final last season.

Here is a a little bit of research, since the start of 2011, V-Tech is 16-33 ATS and have not covered a line opened since 2005.

I would suggest putting small stake pre-game on whatever takes your fancy, and putting stake down on either Buckeyes to win if the game is tight or betting in-play on Buckeyes to cover if the offense is clicking.

Hope this helps a little bit Jordan :)

  42. BigB 3 years ago

Oh and Jordan, here is an interesting bit of info.

In last year’s match up, EE rushed for just 32 yards on 8 carries.

  43. Ad 3 years ago

Well I think and hope it will be quite straightforward for Roger, and I can’t wish you luck in afraid as I want the great man to walk it! But maybe you’ll be proven right in a few hours time.

Anyone see Anderson take that first set? Amazing point to win it. Backed 3-0 @ 18/1 just before the breaker as I have memories of him nearly straight setting Novak at Wimbledon fresh in my mind. Andy with a fight on his hands yet again.

  44. Ad 3 years ago

Isner for the Outright win seems highly fanciful. I can’t remember him ever losing to a player like that on a stage like this. Isner is no cilic when it comes to movement or returning.

  45. Jordan 3 years ago

BigB, it was either that Brewer to throw for 200+ yards, 2 TD’s and Virginia Tech to win @ 13/1, no thanks. I saw that match up, but I’ve also seen that Ohio will be without backs Dontre Wilson, Jalin Marshall and WR Corey Smith, so Elliot is going to get lots of work.

  46. Ellis 3 years ago

    The state of Andy Murray…..

  47. BigB 3 years ago

I haven’t checked the team news, but if that is the case, then your bet is looking rather good Jordan! I don’t think I will get tempted with the game but I wish you the best of luck fella!

  48. cooldude 3 years ago

ad, exactly what is happening to Murray right now?

  49. Ad 3 years ago

Anderson playing well in fairness, Murray needs to lift himself. Don’t be surprised to see him win this from 2 down. Anderson has a little bit of a history of choking Slightly with a big win in his sights. This could be a repeat of his match with Novak at Wimbledon a few months ago (though Novak had to play very well to capitalise and make the comeback happen)

  50. Jordan 3 years ago

BigB just a tenner for interest bud. Nothing better than watching a game and seeing your prop bet break a tackle and take it to the house for 80 yards 😉

  51. BigB 3 years ago

Aha fingers crossed mate! I wish I can watch the game, but I value my sleep and have work at 9 so its probably wise not to haha

  52. Ad 3 years ago

anderson will surely wobble at some point here like he did trying to serve out the second set. the biggest moment of his career so far, nerves will show from Anderson, they have before in huge situations for him. I would expect Andy to have a good chance still, but he’s so angry and frustrated I’m having doubts. im also not mad about the price on offer. but this is far from over.

  53. Ad 3 years ago

anderson : 0 out of 7 wins at this stage of a major. 0 out of 15 against top ten players in majors.

  54. Ad 3 years ago

if murray goes a break down here, take him to come back and win at the nice price that comes up. anderson will get tight at some point, you can count on it.

  55. Picksix 3 years ago

Big b at first glance I like BYU to cover against Boise too. Boise struggled against the huskies in what should have been a blow out really, being there first road game too I think it’s in with a good shout

Jordan think I’m gonna have an interest tenner on that too buddy

  56. Picksix 3 years ago

Big b sleep is overated mate :) don’t know if your an NBA fan or not but you certainly lose all interest in sleep if u are

  57. Ellis 3 years ago

Hope you got on it straight away. One break and murrays pumped

  58. Ellis 3 years ago

I don’t know what’s worse the fact I’ve backed Murray or the fact I have work at 8 and want to watch the Gasquet match as I have a hefty investment

  59. Jordan 3 years ago

BigB, work at 9? You only need 3 hours mate 😀 Haha Tyler makes a good point. NBA and the NFL have made me lose more hours in the last year than my whole life but I’m used to it now. Makes it worth while when the extra £££ is going into the bank.

  60. Picksix 3 years ago

    Croatia v FYR Macedonia
    Slovenia v Netherlands

    * Croatia HT/FT
    Slovenia HT/FT

    Double @ 11/10

Croatia have quality young players as do the Slovenians , the big boys france, Spain and the Serbs etc are going into a resting phase and giving there starters less minutes on court Whereas these two teams I dlubt will be doing the same. Slovenia and Croatia are much stronger than there opposition and I’m fully expected to see the starters getting good game time as the mid tier nations will not be taking any risks of slipping up against the poorer sides wich Macedonia and the Netherlands are to harm their chances of progressing.

  61. Ad 3 years ago

the anderson choke was witnessed a little there and murrays looking good for the win. he was up at around 7/2 or slightly higher moments ago so hope some people managed to get on. if he gets it done of course!

  62. Picksix 3 years ago

Haha Jordan ure right mate was always worth it around 6 am when the hoops finished £££

  64. Ellis 3 years ago

Might have to be done pal , can’t sleep on this math. I’ve gave up predicting what happening here!

  65. Ad 3 years ago

big play from the big safrican. murray needs to get pumped all over again. there will be another wobble from kev at some point. needs to capitalise. though im impartial as to the outcome of this one! one things for sure- murray aint winning the tournament!

  66. Nick 3 years ago

I thought Elliot wasn’t allowed to roll his shirt up anymore? haha

  67. Jordan 3 years ago

  68. Jordan 3 years ago

Nice opening drive from Ohio but only a reception for Elliot. Hopefully they get a nice lead and ground and pound in the later stages.

  69. Jordan 3 years ago

MY ESPN streak cash pick was Ohio to score two or more first half TD’s. Looking good so far!

  70. Jordan 3 years ago

  87. Jordan 3 years ago

  89. Jordan 3 years ago

  93. Nick 3 years ago

Miller has been class, what a spin!

  94. Jordan 3 years ago

Ohios center has high snapped it about 5 times now. Bet still in with a chance as they’ll run the ball more to chew the clock down. You getting to grips with this sport then Nick?

    • Nick 3 years ago

Yea I’ve always watched the superbowl, just the amount of adverts and not knowing when its on is the only reason I haven’t kept up with it before.

Will you be sticking with college or the NFL or both?

  95. Jordan 3 years ago

Might have a dabble on a few college games but NFL is where I’ll be focused.

  96. Nick 3 years ago

Will try and keep up with that too then!
Elliot has been more of a blocker today haha

  97. Nick 3 years ago

Hope JT lets Elliot do his thing now!

  98. Jordan 3 years ago

Sakes. Said about Ohio scoring 33.5. Never mind.

  99. Nick 3 years ago

Looks like Virginia are going to get battered every game if that new guys their QB

  100. Jordan 3 years ago

Yeah broken collarbone I think too. Ohio should have a double digit win every game realistically

  101. Nick 3 years ago

Glad they gave Dunn a run instead of Elliot!

  102. Jordan 3 years ago

3/1 is a loss. Think they’ve pulled Elliot out the game. Was worth a go. Shouldn’t have asked BigB haha

    • BigB 3 years ago

Sorry Jordan! Told you I wasn’t the best placed person to give advice haha, don’t trust me next time!
