MY first two bets this month have been losers so still looking for a winner after a good August.

Admittedly the cards haven't been the best so maybe they should have been no-bet days – but after 48 hours without a punt I was getting twitchy. Memo to self: Be more disciplined.

Bet of the Day for members only will return on Saturday and I've started a new £20 to £250 challenge after completing two last month.

European teams are in World Cup action from Sunday so it's a curtailed card with League One and Two games as well as National League and IRN-BRU matches in Scotland.

For obvious reasons I'm not having as many bets as usual on a Saturday and after a good luck at stats and team news this morning I've decided to stick with three bets I posted last night.

Most of my selections are covered in the UK betting preview that has now been posted.

I had several Super Single contenders but there's not one I totally fancy. My SS in today's Daily Record is Scotland to win and under 2.5 goals and I may go with that tomorrow.

Was on Friday’s thread early afternoon before heading out and noticed what appeared to be a totally unnecessary comment posted regarding where ‘someone was from’. Pleased to see it removed from the thread by admin / Mr F, really hope it wasn’t what I thought it was.

Absolutely no room for that sh*t on what is a fantastic, friendly and welcoming forum.

Looking forward to football and national league fixtures after a boring couple of days…

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

You’re right – unfortunately I’ve deleted a few comments from the same person and patience is running thin.

  2. sam c 8 years ago

Although more to choose from it seems another tricky card but there are a few I like the look of in League 2.

    Colchester v Exeter
Exeter have got off to a very bad start loosing 4 of their 5 games, picking up 1 win against another struggling team in Accrington. Colchester on the other hand have got off to a good start winning 3, drawing one and just loosing the one to a tough Portsmouth side.

    Colchester WIN – 11/10

    Stevenage v Hartlepool
This fixture looks like it should bring goals, both sides have seen over 2.5 in 4 of their 5 league games. Stevenage getting beaten 5-2 in their last league appearance and 3-1 mid week in the cup!.

Over 2.5 Goals – I got 10/11 at Bet365 but is available at evens with PP.

    Good luck all.

The Mighty Shakers have had a better start to the campaign than anticipated and we certainly seem to be offering a threat up top even if our defence is suspect…same old Bury…

    BURY v PORT VALE:

Port Vale are a decent side and will do well this season – they’ve failed to net in only one of their 5 League games but may be missing Tavares who also missed the midweek game.

Looks like we’ll have a few out with Etuhu, Cameron and Tutte injured but may have deadline day newcomers Kean Bryan from City and Tom Walker from B*lton.

This one’s set up for BTTS and our ‘clean sheet’ record is worse than Craneguy’s after a night on the lash – we’ve managed only two in our last 13 in all competitions.

    Two selections:

    BTTS…4/5

    VAUGHAN ATGS…13/8

Best of luck with all bets ?

It’s fine thanks – golf club lost a well-known member in tragic circumstances so was a bit low key naturally.

Sorry to hear that – always puts things into perspective.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Absolutely. On a brighter note Kyle Edmund’s just beaten John Isner – three British men in the last 16. Unbelievable.

  5. Alves 8 years ago

Costa Rica to score 2+, hopefully new Bhoy Gamboa can get in on the goals

  6. maxxxx 8 years ago

Alright everyone, it is your main man Max and I am back! I said last week I wouldn’t be tipping this week due to a poor card and I advised everyone not to part with their hard earned because they are bored. I have no NAP or NB today (they return on sunday) but I do have a few selections for small stakes, As I look to hit the ground running in September.

Bolton have started well after the shambles of the “Lennon era” and they even got in 5 new players on deadline day. They face their ex assistant manager Phil Brown who has said in the past he would love to manage Bolton, however Phil Parkinson is in charge and I suspect they will be too strong at home to continue their good start to the season. They are 3/4 to beat Southend Various.

I am taking a O1.5mg treble which pays 6/5 they look ripe for goals in these games and I am staking five points on this. All 3 home teams have seen the overs come in their games, while the away sides have all seen the over comes in as. These 3 matches could all be in for a shout as a BTTS treble if that tickles your fancy, but its a nice treble for me. I think you could shop around for slightly better price if you want but most my followers use the big names.

    Bolton to win 3/4 (3PTS)

    O1.5mg treble

    AFC Wimbledon v Chesterfield
    Notts County v Grimsby
    Morecombe v Leyton O

    (6/5 Skybet 2PTS)

Max, had the pleasure of watching both Phil Brown and Phil Parkinson in a few Bury/Bolton derbies in the late 80’s early 90’s…both teak-tough defenders in their day and no surprise both have had relative success as managers.

      Good luck.

    • maxxxx 8 years ago

Hull cheers, A mate of mine told me years ago he was one of the best young managers outside the PL. He is a Bradford fan so rightfully so he thinks that’s, and I would love to see more young English managers in our top two league’s and given the chance to progress. Best of luck with your bets over the weekend.

Saw a stat the other day that he’d scored three times more international goals than club goals – 3 to 1.
He’s an awful big long shot to net.

Be good to see how he plays, seen a few clips of him and looks the part, rapid tae. Not on him anytime as 365 don’t have scorers, stuck a corner bet on the Honduras game and it got taken off within minutes, 65 min mark and still no settled. Izzy played the full 90 mins tho

As promised my NAP and NB is here for Sunday and my followers were a little surprised by it but they shouldn’t be as a passionate fan, I am taking England to win in Trnava. Everyone will remember we changed our team in the Euros which cost us top spot and this will be our most difficult game in the group. Scotland away some may say on here but we always beat Scotland and we always qualify so I can see why big Sam as named the team he as for Sunday’s game.

We haven’t played a friendly so we need to get at least a draw or even better 3pts on the board, as this is our most difficult assignment in this group. We can then let Sam ticker with the team and formation throughout the season. I personally am not adverse to Big Sam taking over, I think we will be better defensively, in the long term I would like to have see the likes of Drinkwater, Rashford, Alli starting but as I say I can see his logic. I think we do what we always do in these qualifiers WIN so backing us at odds against is a no brainer for me at 21/20 and I can see a 2-0 so I am taking a NB on us O1.5tg at 7/5 Hills.

England to win 21/20 NAP (20PTS)
    England O1.5g 7/5 NB (10PTS)

    Morning gents

The decision to post last night for the first time since Monday proved to be the right – hopefully setting the tone for the weekend!

Have had a good look through both the English and Scottish cards – goals the key!

Best bet from the England :

    Notts County v Grimsby

Been goals galore from these two this season with 9 of their last 10 games seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring! County have have picked up after poor start winning their last three and they’ll fancy their chances of netting a few against a leaky Grimsby defence who have conceded at least two goals in their last 5 games! They are scoring too though and that bodes well goals here today with both sides contributing

    Back over 2.5 goals 19/20 (Bet365) ( NAP)

    Best bet from Scotland

    Dundee United v Peterhead
    Forfar v Raith Rovers

    Over 2.5 goals double 13/10

You can add Brechin v Dunfermline for 3/1

    Carlisle v Accrington

It’s going to be a long hard season for Accrington I feel having lost a number of their best players in the summer! Carlisle have started the season in terrific fashion and in taking them to score a few here! Was torn between the straight win but going for team goals

Back over 1.5 Carlise team goals 1/1

Good luck with your bets gents ??⚽️

  23. dc john boy 8 years ago

Like the look (as many seem to) of goals at Posh and Notts County today….
Will also have a punt on:

Southport v Dover BTTS and Overs Evens
4/5 H2Hs have seen this outcome including the 2 games last season. 6/7 Southport’s games this season have seen > 2.5 MGS and Dover 5/7. Hope the trend of goals continues …

    Hello all.

Bit of fun 37/1 fivefold for you today but is backed up by stats.

    2nd half highest scoring

    Carlisle v Accrington
    Luton v Wycombe

    Stevenage v Hartlepool

Ferrari straight line speed is 6km down on Mercedes on this fast track, if Hamilton clears the first corner without incident, the race is just about his, only Rosberg could beat him. I also think Rosberg tends to come off 2nd when he goes toe to toe with Hamilton. Not checked on the price yet, but just seen P3 and Hamilton after a limp first sector carved chunks out of Rosberg’s best time in sectors 2 and 3. I think Mercedes were matching Ferrari with Soft tyres against Ferrari’s cars on super softs. There seems to be about a 0.5 to 0.6 second difference between the tyres per lap.
Mercedes are also running their slippier rear wing with less drag.

Massa retiring at the end of the season, shame he lost his competitiveness after his awful accident. Ironically, some of the teams in P1 and P2 were testing the halo system that comes in, in 2 seasons time. Sadly too late with the loss of both manor drivers Jules Bianchi and the test driver Maria de Villota – I’m sure they’d still be with us if it was in place then.

    Afternoon one and all!
Last week I ended up ‘carpet burns’ when the Daggers failed to find a cutting edge on plastic! I’m returning to plastic this weekend, but this time round I’m hoping the plastic pays dividends !
    MAIDSTONE over 1.5 TGS 6/4.
MAIDSTONE goal before 55 mins 5/6.

SUMMARY: Gary Mills is truly under pressure as Wrexham continue to under perform, especially on the road. Conceding 7 in three opening away fixtures doesn’t bode well against a newly promoted side who have scored,on plastic , 15 games on the trot! Mills has been moaning this week about the surface and has indicated the disadvantages his team will face, hardly inspiring ! Maidstone tend to come out of the blocks firing, as for Wrexham , all to often this season they’ve conceded early!

    LUTON EVENS

Luton sit second in the table after 5 games and look set to be around that position come the end of the season, fulfilling their promise that was anticipated but never realised last season.
They also sit second on the goals scored this season with 10, whilst Wycombe sit tied bottom with just 3 goals scored. They have only faced one team so far that is currently in a play off position or better, last time out against Colchester when they lost at home 2-0.
Luton have had players sent off in two games already this season and still won them both, and have had impressive victories over Aston Villa and Gillingham in the league cups. With 11 players on the pitch and back at home this weekend I see a big result coming.

Letting it run. Think Notts County will grab one and Grimsby even get a third.

Great work everyone. Gutted about the 37/1 2nd half highest scoring game being let down by 0-0 in Mansfield game. If I hadn’t been asleep all afternoon I may have seen a cash out option ? This will land a couple of times this season though IMO

    • alex_mufc83 8 years ago

      That’s very unlucky man.

I like BTTS 1st or 2nd half bets too, the returns are huge

I’m sure you’ll land one soon.

Any thoughts on the international matches tomorrow?

  54. alex_mufc83 8 years ago

Some really good in play goals in league 1 and 2 today

I didn’t have time to type them as they were in play but I hope people got on the goals

Made a nice bit of profit on them including a 14-fold @ 22/1

Will try to post them next time it’s just quite difficult getting all games posted before there’s a goal

  55. HullShaker 8 years ago

    Over 0.5 Team Goals Treble @ 51/50 (Coral) ///LOST///

AFC Fylde v Gloucester O2.5 Match Goals
Stevenage v Hartlepool O1.5 Match Goals

    Double @ 103/100 (Bet365) ///WIN///

Today did indeed go along with the stats so it’s great to see a host of winners across the site. I was a Mansfield goal short of a full house, but that’s betting. Profitable day after taking Greg and Jordan’s NAP though, so no complaints!

    Congrats to all with winners.

  62. alex_mufc83 8 years ago

    First bet in the bag…

    Over 5.5 goals – 1.5/1 £20 staked, returns £30 *WON*

Currently HALF TIME so time to get a bet on. Hoping for more in the second half.

Newly crowned champions Limerick host Waterford at 6.30pm, bidding to make Irish league history by going the whole season undefeated. I reckon they will want to put on a show for the fans but the carnival atmosphere may allow the visitors to grab a goal.

    Bets:
    Limerick TTG 3.5 pays 2.10
Limerick win & BTTS pays evens

    Long shot:
    BTTS first half pays 3.75

    • tomt 8 years ago

      Bets:
Limerick TTG 3.5 pays 2.10 WON
Limerick win & BTTS pays evens LOST

      Long shot:
BTTS first half pays 3.7 LOST

Plenty of possession and shots from Waterford but another ruthless Limerick display.
