I WAS pleased to land another Super Single winner as St Johnstone came from behind to beat Morton in the League Cup and cover the -1 handicap.
It was a 2.1pts winner rather than 2.4 because I advised cover near the end and three out of four on the goals bet resulted in a 0.5pt loss thanks to Arsenal failing to even score.
I'd love to return the Super Single to profit tonight after a good comeback over the last week and that explains the bet I've chosen.
With cup games dominating again tonight it promises to be tricky but there are also eight Serie A matches to consider and home wins for top two Roma and Napoli pays 4-5 at Coral.
That double could have been the SS but instead I'm going for both teams to score 2+ at slightly higher odds of evens. Both doubles should land and I'm especially confident about Roma who have netted two or more goals in their last seven meetings at home to Udinese and 20 in their last six matches. None of those six have resulted in a clean sheet so Roma and both to score is worth a look at 11-5 with William Hill.
Both Roma and Napoli have won three and drawn one at home this season scoring 12 and 11 goals respectively. Napoli won 1-0 at Chievo at the weekend but previous to that scored 14 in five. They've netted exactly three in their last two at home to Palermo so again they should win and score 2+.
Take your pick – Napoli and Roma to win or Napoli and Roma to score 2+. The points on the bet is simply because I only need a small win to return to profit and that's the main aim with four daysof the month remaining.
Elsewhere in Italy champions Juventus, unbeaten in five, should win at Sassuolo as they return to form and I'd expect Milan to edge out Chievo but they're maybe a little short at 8-11.
I've posted a separate preview on the Hearts v Celtic League Cup quarter-final while in England the Capital One Cup games again are best left alone until line-ups are revealed.
Man City are putting out a strong side against Middlesbrough and whie Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be keen to notch his first win at the fourth attempt against Bournemouth he's playing some youngsters.
Man United tackle Crystal Palace and if Southampton don't make too many changes they'll be a decent bet against managerless Aston Villa but Ronald Koeman could rotate.
I'd rather go for goals and I'm taking Hearts v Celtic for reasons stated in the preview. Add Verona v Fiorentina with both sides bringing up the market in four out of five and the last two meetings ending 3-5 and 1-2. Might as well complete the treble with Roma v Udinese.
Other contenders included Feyenoord v Ajax, Schalke v Moenchengladbach, Standard Liege v Mechelen and Liverpool v Bournemouth.
The advised accas losses, including long shots, is just under 20pts which is better than it was a week ago. I'm not going to chase it over the next four days but I'm prepared to lose another four or five points in a bid to improve the tally so I'm putting up one long shot. Last night’s punt on the Bologna v Inter match was costly as it was the first time since starting this strategy I didn’t get a return off either bet. This next one concerns me enough to reduce the stakes again as I am backing a side in poor recent form to win away at a side in good recent home form.
Zadar were relegated from the Croatian top league last term and don’t look like they will be bouncing straight back up as they are only 2 points above relegation in the 2.HNL but recent home form is good. Lokomotiva are in the same position in the top flight but for me are a better side so should win here- will be tight though. Ultimately there is a trend for goals between these two and I am hoping if Lokomotiva don’t win and concede (they usually do the latter) then there will be 3 or more goals to cover that stake. It has the look of BTTS and overs about it.

Not sure on whether Alex Neil will be the next to leave. He’s really highly regarded down here in Norwich and the work he did to get us promoted last season wasn’t a mean feat from where he picked us from.

GillsRob, my spreadsheet is pretty basic, I load in data for eight or so leagues and then all of the fixtures and then it highlights fixtures that have a statistically good chance of BTTS, but only based on the last 4 home or away games.
Then it’s grunt work of looking at the individual games before blindly picking the ones I want.
Been running it the last two weekends and midweeks, midweeks are hard as often not enough games to pick from like tonight and I didn’t really fancy the ones it showed me today so I went random punt and lost that lol.
So far £84 staked and £19 profit which doesn’t prove anything and half the time I’ve lost out by picking the wrong game.
Midweek last week it had 9/10 BTTS games at the top but I had the 1 that didn’t (qpr) in my Acca. The last weekend it got 7/10. Feel it might have legs but it really doesn’t do anything special.

It was shocking Jordan. Massive opportunity for some silverware missed there. Not as bad as MK Dons last year but the standard of the penalties was shocking from Man U. How many of those missed penalties were from England players (says it all doesn’t it!)

Lets be honest Pete its the least wanted trophy we will want to get our hands on come the end of the season but that doesn’t make it an excuse to take penalties like that. Rooney needs to change his game. You can tell he practices that same penalty every time. As do the keepers coming up against him.

I only bet on the MLS ‘in play’ as its a weird league, the same team can win 3-0 and then lose 3-0 to equal opposition.
only advice I can offer on the league is that the majority of goals seem to be scored in the 2nd half of play. So I judge it on how the game is going. Its the playoffs so teams might tighten up as its the business end of the season. But who knows haha
