BILLY DAVIES is the 1-1 favourite with McBookie.com to be the new Rangers manager following the news Ally McCoist has officially left the club. He is followed in the betting by Stuart McCall.

However, assistant manager Kenny McDowall will take over his duties until the end of the season so the next boss won't be appointed until after then.

Paul Petrie, McBookie.com spokesman, said: “It will be interesting to see if the board have anyone lined up but if the rumours and money is to be believed then it will be Davies. He started the process as a 6-1 shot but has been well cut.”

Davies has been the in the frame all week in Scotland but whether he gets might depend on who makes the call with Derek Llambias recently appointed as chief executive. Does Newcastle Mike Ashley make the call or will he be advising former St James' Park sidekick Llambias.

Scott Allott reckons “McCoist will be spending a lot of time in the Charles Greenhouse now he's on gardening leave”. My drive needs power washed – anyone got Ally's number?

Next Rangers Manager (McBookie prices): 1-1 B Davies, 6-1 S McCall, 8-1 T Butcher, D Wise, 16-1 R Gattuso, 20-1 D McInnes, G Zola, 25-1 G Durie, D Adams, T Sherwood, 33-1 Bar.

Scott I’ll pass you’re comment about ally on to a few bears,
I’ll post you’re comment on the blue orders web site.
Can’t belive any one thinks it’s funny to lose there job.

Clarky, that sums you up – firstly it’s a joke. Secondly, he quit – and thirdly he’s a millionaire. I’d feel more sorry if it was someone who couldn’t afford to lose their job.

Clarky, I wouldn’t mind being in Ally’s shoes and getting paid £750k to do heehaw for the next year! Lighten up man, all this bitterness can’t be good for you

Davies opened at 12/1 outwith McBookie as I tipped him on the main site at that price.

Read earlier that some of newcastles more promising youngsters could be joining rangers ,can rangers catch hearts ? Bloody hope not been treating hearts to win as my cash isa lot better rates than the banks

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Daz, I don’t see Rangers catching Hearts. The Championship’s not neccesarily a great place for promising youngsters anyway.

Best thing McCoist has done not for Rangers but for himself and his family the circumstances that was forced upon him meant he would be on a hiding to nothing especially since the heart of the club was totally ripped apart thru no fault of his, so it was hardly surprising that eventually with all the soap opera involved he decided enuff was enuff and had to walk away to save his sanity probably more than anything else.

Scott wud u work for nuffin fir a few months wud u gie up haf ur salary ti ensure others kept their jobs that wis wot made allys mind up the board got rid of some staff who had devoted their life ti rangers n am no in the least bit bitter ktf

    • Scott Allot 9 years ago

Hamish, I take your point that McCoist has done his bit under very trying circumstances. The ‘bitter’ I was referring to was Clarky’s daily rants at JohnB that don’t see the light of day.

  8. AnOnYmoUS 9 years ago

Well hamish, McCoists job as he seen it was to get Rangers back in the spl as quick as and he was on course to do that having won promotion every year. This year was always going to be dodgy but Rangers are still in a good position regardless and there was always the real possibility of having to rely on the play off route.

So we will never know if he would have took Rangers back to the spl but he was on course to do what he set out to do and get back to the spl as quick as poss.

The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the various board members the past 2-3 years who have nothing but greed in common.

imho McCoist is well out of it as Rangers have been shafted by all and sundry but the most galling thing is they are getting royally shafted by the very people who claim to have Rangers interests at heart.

Anonymous, Rangers problems run deep – and off the field it’s much more serious than on it.

You would have to be crazy to have a bet on this market before the summer unless they offer a ‘no next manager’ option

Scott the bitterness isn’t coming from my side.
Did raaljaca offer to run the racing thread and all money that is paid to Johnb was to go to charities, paul won’t answer this question mybe you could.
This isn’t a rant it’s a question that has been put up many times without seeing the light of day.

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Clarky, you know the answer to that question because it’s not in dispute. Raaljaca publicly put up that offer but it was kindly rejected because we wanted Johnb to keep doing the tips and unlike raaljaca he’s not in a position to give up his payment. Through the Mr Fixit pages in the Record I give thousands of pounds to charity every year and will continue to do so.

  13. Clarky 9 years ago

Paul thanks for putting up an answer.
I will also say very well done to Johnb,I’m not his number one fan but I don’t think another tipster could pick the winners he has put up in the last week.
He has made all lot of punters very very happy which in this time of year has to be applauded
So keep up the outstanding tips Johnb.
