IT'S semi-final Friday for the women at the Madrid Open and Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams are on track for a title showdown.
Defending champ Sharapova won a tough three-setter against Caroline Wozniacki to reach the last four and is 1-4 at Paddy Power to dispose of Svetlana Kuznetsova, the 19-5 underdog at 888sport.
And world No.1 Williams – who has not lost a match for nearly seven months – is 1-5 at Ladbrokes against Petra Kvitova, who is priced up at 19-4 by BetVictor.

Starting to sound like a broken record with this tip but here we go again!!!
Those of you who have been following me on the NHL ice hockey will know that I’ve had three reasonably good priced bets on the Blackhawks Vs Wild games (5/4, 17/10 @ 7/4) which all won. Each of these bets have been generously overpriced by Betway. Today was the day I thought they had caught on to their over-site when game 4 of the series was pulled from their betting lines, but nope they’ve gone and done it again and put up another juicy looking price.
The Blackhawks currently lead the series 3-0 and although they had some luck in the 3rd of these, they just about managed to get over the line with a hard fought 1-0 win. Admittedly Wild are getting closer to the result they desperately need against the Hawks but I just can’t see the thinking with these prices by Betway. I’m feeling a little more cautious than the last three games but still think the Blackhawks will be desperate to put this series to bed earl with one more victory and I’ll be on them (smaller stakes) to repeat the feat once more.

First grand tour of the season. The Giro will have 21 stages, starting this Saturday and finishing in Milan on Sunday 31st of May. It’s my favourite grand tour of the season with loads of interesting stages and a nice startlist with lots of outsiders and new names. I did quite well on the betting last year and will try to have a bet on every stage in the race. I will stick to level stakes on the main bet and will have some small bets if something comes up.
Pre-race bets:
Not a big fan of pre-race bets, because a lot can happen in 3.500 kilometers of bike racing. But I have selected a few that will keep me interested in the race and the fight for the jersey’s.

This was my best bet. I backed this match-up last night at odds of 2.20 and saw this morning they cut it. It is still backable at this price. These guys are team mates and I think Izagirre is in much better form and could be one of the surprises of the Giro. He was very good in the tour of the Basque country and Paris-Nice. We haven’t seen a lot of Anton yet this season, his team mate beat him in every single stage in Basque country.

Like I said above I think he will be one of the surprises of the Giro. I think he can be with the best in the mountains stages and he has really improved his time trial like we saw in the other races this season. He should be able to finish in the top 10.
Points classification:
Greipel and Matthews are the favourites for the points (sprinters) jersey, but I think both won’t make it to Milan and will leave the race after 2 weeks. Both will be in the Tour the France and they won’t want to waste their powers in the extremely hard 3rd week. With these two out I think it will be a 3 men race between Nizzolo, Lobato and Mezgec. At this price he is worth a small bet each-way.

Another team time trial just like we saw in Tour of Romandie. My bet was beaten by a 0.6 second gap back then and that shows these TTT’s can be very close. This one is even shorter with only 17.6k. It’s a flat course with not a lot of corners, so the team with the powerful guys will have the best chance.
