June 27: Spain v Italy Betting Preview

BIGGEST game of the last 16 is the pick of the bunch and a repeat of the 2012 final.

Spain won that one 4-0 but it should be much tighter this time and I’m going for a draw in 90 minutes at 2-1 with McBookie and Ladbrokes. The holders are favourites at 6-5 with Coral while the draw pays 7-2 at Ladbrokes.

The sides have met 35 times and 14 of the meetings have been draws.

Italy have failed to score in three of their last four knockout games at the Euros and their last victory against Spain in a major tournament was in the quarter-finals of the 1994 World Cup so the stats are in Spain’s favour.

To qualify for the last eight the Spanish are 1-2 with McBookie with Italy 6-4 at McBookie and Ladbrokes.

If pressed I’d take Spain to edge it but best bet could be under 1.5 goals at 23-20 with McBookie.

The last-16 ties have been closely fought and a penalty shoot-out pays 9-2 at McBookie.
