Johnb’s antepost tip

Saturday July 25, King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes
GOLDEN HORN 11-4 Boylesports

Johnb says: “Hope you all got the 5-6 and 4-5 about Golden Horn for Saturday’s Eclipse. The only horse left in that can beat him is himself. Why is that?
“Because Golden Horn’s main target now is the King George in three weeks’ time.
“But whatever happens on Saturday, now is the time to get on Golden Horn for the King George.
“11-4 at Boylesports, are they mad?”

Anyone interested, boylesports have gone to 2/1 from 11/4 for Golden Horn in the King George
Betvictor are still 5/2 but he is as low as 6/4

  2. Centrecircle 2 years ago

    JOHNB-black cherry is 15/8 with bet365 not 5/2

  3. allycoops 2 years ago

CC it was 5/2 when JohnB posted it.

  4. DK 2 years ago

Centrecircle, it shows that he was 5/2 but has come in to 15/8

  5. allycoops 2 years ago

Tournament listed in Haydock 5:10 and Sandown 2.35 John B

Got my stag do at Sandown tomorrow JohnB – any tips across the rest of the card other than those already mentioned?
Would be nice to send home 18 happy mates!!

Nick B, have a nice day. Are you up in Scotland for The Open or will you be away?

  7. johnb 2 years ago

Allycoops I think the 5:10 is the easier race, the drop to 7f will suit more than the 1m at Sandown and the going at Haydock should be in Tournaments favour rather than the going at Sandown

  8. johnb 2 years ago

Centrecircle Black Cherry was posted over 4 hours ago and odds have changed now, but 5/2 was available and is still available at skybet hills betvictor boylesports & Stan james

  9. johnb 2 years ago

Nick B looks difficult at Sandown for some races but I would also fancy 1:25 Use Your Filbert & 4:20 Aussie Reigns

In the big one Golden Horn is too short to bet now but shouldn’t get beat

  10. Alex 2 years ago

I’m sorry, but i hope golden horn gets beat tomorrow :P.

I’m taking your antepost tip in a double with golden horn to win tomorrow at just under 4s john, can’t seem him losing so seems a nice little odds booster for him to win the king george, cheers mate and fantastic tipping keep up the good work!

  15. dar 2 years ago

Does anyone think golden horn will win by over two lengths….coral are offering 5/4 for this….I’m tempted….just would lije some opinions???

  16. Nick 2 years ago

Johnb what do u think of 7/2 that Golden Horn wins by 4 lengths or more. Good bet? Surely he’s in a different league to these?

  17. rawcs 2 years ago

can see golden horn making all and winning by over 3 lengths today. gl all

  18. johnb 2 years ago

It all comes down to how the race will be run,
Personally I want to see Frankie make the pace because he easily stayed the Derby distance and he also gets a Massive 11lb from the other four horses,
We are talking about one of the most impressive Derby winners in history and the clock says that.
In the Eclipse you don’t see big distance wins because if a horse comes from behind it takes that much out a horse and this track does massively suit horses that kick from the front in the home straight

4 lengths looks a big ask but I hope he does,
2 lengths is more realistic but again it comes down to the tactics, but at least we have Frankie onboard

  22. NAGMAN 2 years ago

Always love saturday racing and looks like some half decent races today. Shame a couple of the hcaps dropped down to less than 16 runners though.

As normal will post my bets followed by selections in C4 races for anyone who wants an interest.

Potentially good day all round for Gosden again and hope G Horn wins but too short to bet although Coral over 2 lengths looks tempting.

    MY BETS ARE :

    2.35 SANDOWN – SPARK PLUG 7/1 NAP

(Beat GM Hopkins before falling at Ascot, supposedly has come away from that fine and on that basis should run a big race)

    2.00 SANDOWN – WAADY 9/4 NB

    1.25 SANDOWN – MIRACLE NINETYNINE 4/1

Win singles, small win doubles and small EW treble. Have also had a stake save on SPARK PLUG placing.

FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS AN INTEREST IN C4 RACES:

    1.45 Hay – Jumeirah Glory 7/2

    2.00 San – Waady 9/4

    2.15 Hay – Miss Marjurie 5/1

    2.35 San – Spark Plug 7/1

    2.50 Hay – Asterix 8/1

    3.10 San – Black Cherry 5/2

    3.45 San – G Horn/Western Hymn FC

    Good luck today everyone

  23. NAGMAN 2 years ago

Also R Moore has a 40% strike rate riding for Meehan so that also a positive for SPARK PLUG

  24. NAGMAN 2 years ago

Duncan I like APTERIX and tipped it last time it won. Also interesting Ellison only has one runner today especially on a Saturday.

  37. The Postman 2 years ago

My Nap today goes in the very last race of the day at Carlisle.

    RADHAADH @ 2/1 (Sir M Stoute is 4-4 at the track 100%)

I keep looking at the first race at Beverley and wonder why Tim Easterby is running what looks to be two horses with no chance, The Easterby’s are very good at plotting stuff like this, they are both 40/1 and I have had a small interest each way on both.

  54. NAGMAN 2 years ago

Poor from Spark Plug obviously not back to itself after fall

  55. Duncan Poundcake 2 years ago

    Well done Dougie ,Hugh who?.

  56. Lossie jim 2 years ago

A bit harsh Nagman, put in a terrible position by Ryan Moore, stuck up the inside and when the race started for real nowhere to go, switched outside and ended up against the rail at the line again running on. We all hear how great these jockeys are when races pan out, but seldom hear when they ride a rank rotten race. I’m snit ting watching the racing with the brother in law and said to him that Spark Plug will not get a run from there, and was proved right.

Worth backing again next time I would think.

  57. NAGMAN 2 years ago

Already mentioned Apterix earlier but think Farquhar looks a little overpriced imo

  58. Kev 2 years ago

Having a go on Thatcherite Duncan? Think I’ll have a small dabble. Horse has been good to me

  59. NAGMAN 2 years ago

I agree not given a great ride but looked a little timid don’t you think?

  60. NAGMAN 2 years ago

M Johnston and his front runners in big hcaps!

  66. De Niro 2 years ago

Richard Hughes seems to have lost all interest and doesn’t even try to cover up his disinterest !
Week as a kitten in a finish also !

  67. johnb 2 years ago

Said it yesterday, there is only two world class jockeys in this country
    Frankie Dettori & Graham Gibbons
Lol what a Muppet Richard Hughes is

  68. Lossie jim 2 years ago

Do you believe me now Nagman, exactly the same race run by Hughes aboard the favourite, a truly shocking piece of positioning, surely even the jockeys can see that nothing is winning coming from behind on the inside rail at Sandown.

  69. NAGMAN 2 years ago

Agree JB Frankie would never have let it get in a spot like that.

Doesn’t matter how good the horse is if the jockey never gives it a chance to run.

  70. Tony R 2 years ago

No matter what the horse is, I’m never backing anything with Richard Hughes on again. To many times now

  71. The Postman 2 years ago

This was in the Racing Post

Richard Hughes: “My best ride of the day is my last.

I am expecting a big run from Silver Quay…an each way bet should get a return”.

    4.55 Sandown, Silver Quay

  72. NAGMAN 2 years ago

Yeah see what you are saying mate, very irritating.

Just don’t understand why you would let yourself get in to that spot. I understand they want cover early doors but I would much rather be out wide earlier and risk it than let myself get boxed in and not get a run at all

  73. Upswing 2 years ago

    Never bet on Hugh’s favs

  74. jim burnside 2 years ago

I blame the trainers that r given this clown the rides surely they c wot everyone else sees hughes doesn’t giv a toss and us costing everyone money.

  75. johnb 2 years ago

Lossie Jim even my seven year old niece knows how to ride Sandown,
She said last year after watching a race that a jockey wasn’t very good because he should have known that at Sandown you have to front run or be up with the pace

  76. Deeman 2 years ago

That kauto star tributes not ch4 would bring a tear to your eye

  77. NAGMAN 2 years ago

JB your comment on Gibbons made me have a look at his stats.

See he is 7/8 for Hugo Palmer and rides Persiflage for him today in the 4.45

    • Tony R 2 years ago

  89. NAGMAN 2 years ago

Reminds me of when Bullet Train and Frankel got opposite draws and they made Frankel make all when he had never done it before.

Only the best horses can change up their style in them sort of races and still win like that

  90. johnb 2 years ago

I honestly couldn’t be happier for Anthony Oppenheimer,
The family thoroughly deserve this for the decades they have given to racing

  91. James 2 years ago

    4:20 Sandown – Havana Beat

  92. James 2 years ago

Do horses improve massively between 3 and 4? Just thinking about that weight allowance and how different the race would have been if they ran off level weights?

  93. TheHawk 2 years ago

Looked to me like Golden Horn needs the 1m 4f class horse :)

  94. johnb 2 years ago

TheHawk as people on here know I was adamant he would get 1m 4f before the Derby, and then everything in the Derby run told me Golden Horn in my opinion would also get 1m 6f and I really think connections have missed a chance with this horse because I really liked his chances for the 2000 Guineas
A Guineas, Derby, Ledger triple crown, could he really have done the Holy Grail?.
Yes I think he could have

  95. scotty 2 years ago

Anyone any tips for the john smiths cup next saturday, I’m off to york for the day.

  96. johnb 2 years ago

James at 3 he is still learning and strengthening, 3 year olds need the allowance but still have a poor record in the race
Golden Horn will improve massively next season if he stays in training because there is a big difference between 3 & 4
but today he was outstanding and maybe looking to be better than Sea The Stars

  97. James 2 years ago

What a shocking ride on Havana Beat by David Probert, sick of this game.
