July 19: Johnb’s Racing Tips & Chat

MRF_RacingTips_Racebets

JOHNB made a 1pt profit on Monday after his 5-1 NB won.

He is 35.37 points down for July but has plenty of time to recoup those losses.

Johnb says: “I have already advised Churchill for next year’s 2000 Guineas & Derby – he has been really impressive this season and my view is he will get even better next year.

“Blue Point on the other hand is harder to call for how he will progress next year. If he trains on then in my view it’s a straight fight between Blue Point & Churchill but in the Derby Churchill is the only horse for me – he gives me the same excitement as Golden Horn did.

“But to answer my question earlier the most impressive horse I have seen this year is BLUE POINT with Churchill and Annie Power a close second and third.”

none of above will be remembered in 20 years outside the racing fraternity unlike the mighty Frankel.
    This horse had xxxxx factor.
I know totally non racing people who made a point of watching his races because he was breathtaking the way he made good horses look like donkeys whenever the jockey pressed the button.

golden horn didn’t stay around long enough to race the older horses off level weights. Fine beating them with the 3 year old weight allowance. If he had raced at 4 on level terms and won the arc again fair enough, but horn for me will not be remembered in racing history as a legend.
Nor Annie power for that matter as she always gets the sex allowance, so its never a level playing field, and without it, faugheens time last year would be quicker for me.
Best of a poor crop of 3 year olds was golden horn, where are the rest of last years derby field now ??.

Just my opinions and I’m sure everyone disagrees with me, but its a tips and chat thread at the end of the day.

male horses are physically built better which is why mares get an allowance and I can’t see how you would think they shouldn’t get an allowance

But anyway going by maths of lengths per second and pounds per length, it works out Annie Power still ran 2.07 seconds quicker than Faugheen

I have also said numerous occasions that Frankel in my opinion doesn’t deserve to be up there with the best
Connections were too scared to travel with him, which is why York was the furthest the horse went,
At least connections of Golden Horn took him to Ireland, France and America

Also about Frankel, everyone goes on about how good his 2000 Guineas win was
But the clock says differently and that was a hard ridden Frankel

        • Profile photo of elvis parsley
          elvis parsley 5 months ago

          Frankel’wasn’t a clock horse.
His races became a game of of cat and mouse.
His opponents tried all sorts of tactics to beat him.
He would put the race to bed at any point in the race with a half furlongs burst, this is what made him special.
You can’t keep quoting clock times as all races are run differently,
          slow pace, Sprint finish
Fast pace and see who keeps going the longest,
          Etc.

Timeform has frankel’ as its highest rated horse ever on 147.
The top 100 horses had ratings of 135+
Golden horn didn’t make the top 100.
I may be wrong but I think 133 was its highest rating.

Annie powers a beast ! Usually has the race sewn up in a canter 2 furlong out

            Johnb 5 months ago

Ok, who did Frankel ever beat?
I would probably say the best he beat was Canford Cliffs and he was no star,
True greats of racing are 1m 4f horses, that distance has the best horses and best races
Frankel was bred to get the 1m 4f but connections too the easy route

Scott any idea when/IF FREE BETS are going to be paid for winning Friday Night’s Racing Comp 17/24 June.

You posted on 24th June, Admin will be in touch next couple of weeks. You have also posted on other threads about cock-up with ADMIN over email addy’s.

I see from same thread, someone posted winning outstanding from FEB and other months. Pointless having COMP if you don’t pay out monies.

Simple way of sorting it out, if there is a ‘cock-up’. All past winners to email ADMIN with their email address details etc etc. JOBS A GOOD UM, everyone happy.

    Happy Punting.

It’s the 2 today both from Chelmsford:

    6.20 Thomas Cranmer 4/1
Imo this looks to be the only true AW horse. I’m hoping he has come on for the debut where it was wide and green but started to come good late on.

8.20 Run to the hills 6/4 this looks to be a shoot out between the top 2. I tipped this horse when it was beat inton3rd last time. 2nd has won since.

As for Annie power, what a horse. Defo one of the best.

Very knowledgeable, she has been around racehorses all her life,
She was an amateur jockey, she also worked with trainer David Hayes
Then a Bloodstock agent and also worked on a stud farm before returning to England to work with her dad for two years.
She has already been the racing presenter on Australia’s channel 7 and America’s cnn channel

Hanagan only ride on card plus think there’s a lot of dead wood in the race, selections form isn’t inspiring but been in some hot contests and certainly bred to be better

I have a question guys which probably has a simple answer. Why is the ground is watered? I.e looking at the 2:15 for a we bet on an early race, and I’ve noticed before, the ground is good/firm watered. I was on a race at Windsor and a splash of rain finished the meet due to an obvious danger to the horses. Just curious to know 👍

    • Profile photo of Johnb
      Johnb 5 months ago

Just so the ground doesn’t get too hard, it really has to have a certain level of moisture in the ground
If they didn’t water, more horses would get injured and more meetings would be abandoned

    Afternoon all

Just the one today for me

    ZLATAN 20/1 EW 8.10 notts

From an opening hcap mark of 67 has dropped to 60 now but is still the highest rated horse in the field as he drops into class 6 for the first time. Trainer bang in form, has won 4 of his last 5, and jockey takes a further 3lbs off. I think at the odds worth a modest ew bet.

    Best of luck to all

John as we read yesterday on the thread about jockeys overuse of the whip, Jamie Spencer used his whip 12 or 13 times in the final straight, including a few down the shoulder. Im not sure where American racing is versus England and Ireland with regard to whip rules, but this is quite an ordeal for any horse to suffer.

    • Profile photo of Johnb
      Johnb 5 months ago

It’s not an ordeal for a horse, I have said before and I will say it again, THE WHIP DOESNT HURT A HORSE,

American rules are different than uk and even different from state to state

You can use the whip on the shoulder or hind quarters, but nowhere else

Kentucky Derby last year Victor Espinoza used the whip approx 30 times on American Pharoah

Churchill is one of the best racing prospects I have seen for the last maybe 15 years as I can’t see how the horse won’t train on next year

Blue Point is a bit different as his performances were abut out of the blue and I am always abut wary of Godolphin horses training on

Sometimes I just follows signs, the little one was wearing her frozen outfit watching guess what? Yep Frozen so I will back that in the 8:10 Frozon 4/1 The other that I have been monitoring is Josephine Gordons ride Rosie Crowe which can be backed at 25/1 and has gone previously off a higher mark. Like I say not a race to go mad on.
