FEB 22: CRICKET AND OTHER SPORTS TIPS

cricketworldcuptrophy

ENGLAND have made an awful start to the Cricket World Cup but if they lose to Scotland tonight it’ll be an embarrassing new low.

Eoin Morgan’s side are bottom of Pool A after heavy losses to co-hosts Australia and New Zealand and the pressure is on to finally get a win on the board.

Despite their rotten form England are just 1-9 at Paddy Power for victory in the Battle of Britain showdown while the Saltires – minnows in the cricket world – are 7-1 at Skybet and bet365.

There’s also Scottish interest in the Welsh Open snooker final today with Wishaw Wizard John Higgins the 2-5 favourite at Totesport to win the tournament for a record fourth time. Standing in his way is Ben Woollaston, the 15-8 underdog at Betfred.

It’s also the final of the Marseille ATP tennis tournament where bet365 make Gael Monfils 8-15 against Gilles Simon, who’s priced up at 6-4.

Elsewhere there’s plenty of golf, rugby action among the sporting highlights so post your tips and chat here and good luck with your bets.

  6. insider 2 years ago

Jordan obviously good luck with your ufc picks, for some reason though I’m liking the look of mir to cause an upset I think he’s going to want to go out with a bang so he doesn’t retire with a 5 loss streak. And as we know mir is the type of guy who likes shocking everyone and considering everyone is counting him out I think he’s going to put everything into this. But if he gets caught and hit by that train that’s silvas punches then I have no doubt it would be silvas victory haha

I watch quite a bit of rugby league and the owner of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, actor Russel Crowe is over to watch WorldClub Challenge v St helens,
I feel South Sydney will win comfortably the handicap is set at minus 6 at 10/11
I will be on the no draw handicap of minus 5.5 at 4 to 5 as its safer if the game finishes by a converted try.
St Helens missing a few players and the Australian teams are better all over the park.

    ATP Delray Beach 8-00pm
2/I can’t believe Young as made the final here despite him winning me a nice few quid earlier in the week on a 2-0 set score – knowing how Karlovic can flake in finals (or anytime) and with the home boy scenario- I think the value is in
    Young 2-0 at 100/30 Boylesports

    ATP Acapulco 8-30pm
3/Falla at 5/2 william hills/bet fred to beat Kokkinakis – absolute joke price and insult to Falla who wins this tonight if they both play their best.

  22. Ad 2 years ago

I think Monfils wil beat Simon but I can’t trust him enough to back him at that price.
Fognjni is worth a gamble but I imaginr Ferrer will just make so far fewer mistakes than Nadal and Fog won’t have the mindset and patience to break him down. Good luck a way De Niro.

  23. V P 2 years ago

I did bet on the wo.but I know it was with my optimism and faith. Did India over 300 5/2 and over 320 9/2 as well but again I wouldnt tip it because it is pure support

  24. Attila 2 years ago

AD – looking forward to your tips for the 3 finals tonight. I think Karlovic is a given, but Fognini could upset Ferrer and Simon could also upset Monfils so not sure what best bet is for those 2 games…maybe over 21 or 22 total games (whatever line is set at) would be the safest?

Jordan – cheers bud for the Treble. Not posting my tips for a while as on a shocking run of bad luck lately, So just like huggybear am going to follow ur bets for a while.

    Rolling Acca Leg 4:

I’ve been going back and forth all morning trying to decide between Schiavone or Kokkinakis for the second part of the bet, and in the end I’ve pumped for experience over youth.

    Ryan Harrison d Michael Russell
    Schiavone d Voegele

    Staked: £38.72
    Potential returns £70.47.

Harrison really impressed me in Memphis last week, playing a superb match against Nishikori before eventually falling in three sets. He looks to have carried that form into this week where he’s kicked things off with a comprehensive win over Menendez-Meceiras, and while Russell will prove stiffer competition, at 36 I just don’t think he will have the legs to hang with a rejuvenated Harrison who seems to be playing his way back to the top of his game. Russell won just 35% of second serve points against Smyczek in the last round and hit 8 double faults to 1 ace. And I think Harrison is playing well enough to beat Russell even if he was at his best right now.

Schiavone is in super form, following up her 5 impressive straight sets wins in Antwerp last week with a 3 set win over Bencic yesterday in Doha. She now takes on a less talented Swiss in Voegele, and while Voegele can be dangerous on a fast court on her day, it’s been so long since she produced. Schiavone, if she plays like she has been, will be too steady and too classy for Voegele, unless we see a dramatic improvement from.

    Good luck!

    • De Niro 2 years ago

Ad I think Russel can upset Harrison but Schiavone backed into 1/4 fav should be safe if she can get her serve going,
wouldnt risk a penny on either as both big odds on shots that can both get beat so its a route to the poor house.
Having said all that at the odds they ought to win a double and still well below ev’s – so you would think they can win?

      :-)

      • Ad 2 years ago

I think they’re the safest two bets out there today for the purposes of the rolling acca. Generally looking for odds between 0.7 – 1.0 for the bet.

  26. Ad 2 years ago

Super Acca for a bit of white knuckle fun:

    Monfils d Simon
    Harrison d Russell
    Kokkinakis d Falla
    Mayer d Robert
    Almagro d Andujar
    Bellucci d Lorenzi
    Karlovic d Young
    Schiavone d Voegele
    Wang d Flipkens
    Azarenka d Kerber
    Zahlavova Strycova d Lisicki

    pays 62/1 or there abouts.

    • De Niro 2 years ago

      As to the acca Ad
I suggest you do take of Monfils as there will be no white knuckle ride when Simon schools him and the accas down so early :-)

Come on Simon !!! bring home the lolly.

      • Ad 2 years ago

I wouldn’t put Monfils in anything that a silly long shot that’s almost certain to lose anyway. I do think he will probably win though. He’s been impressive this week and has turned the screw exactly when he’s needed to to win every set. Simon has shown flashes of his best but hasn’t been in that red-zone where he’s impossible to break down. If Gael keeps his head I think he’s got this. But we shall see. If Simon brings his A game Gael will have to be razor sharp.

        • De Niro 2 years ago

          nice one Ad

If I wasnt already on Simon at 9/1 and paid out on making final – I would be having a big win bet on Simon rather than the 2-0 punt for smaller stakes.

Good to know your views Ad – good luck

  27. Harry 2 years ago

Cheers huggy. is that your NAP haha

  28. Jordan 2 years ago

No worries gents glad I’m helping out. For now haha

Insider completely understand your theory on Mir. But he hasn’t won for four years and even in his last win against Nog he was hurt very badly. Bigfoot hasn’t exactly been great either but I think his size and strength will be too much for Mir. I haven’t gone big on it mate and would say the same to anyone following.

  29. insider 2 years ago

If he can stay out of the way of silvas punches like Daniel Cormier did he has a chance to use his speed, everything points to silva but for the odds offered on mir and quite a good chance of the upset I’ll put a cheeky bet on him haha. Good luck with your picks jordan will you be watching?

  30. Jordan 2 years ago

I’ll be watching the main card while checking the NBA scores at the same time mate, the thing with UFC that happens more than in most sports is underdogs win. Good luck mate.

Huggy, the total in the Pacers/Warriors game looks a bit low. What you thinking?

  32. Ad 2 years ago

If Schiavone loses and Kokkinakis and Harrison win im gna be fuming

    • De Niro 2 years ago

Schiavone cant serve Ad and I di tell you backing short priced odds on favs is a route to the poor house :-)

  33. Ad 2 years ago

Maybe. But the whole point of a rolling acca like that was to go with short priced ‘safe’ favourites though. I was going to post Kokkinakkis til I saw you tipping Falla and that I overthought it and went back to Schiavone, so I’ll be blaming you if the other two win 😉

She served quite well in her last match, guess it abandoned her today

    • De Niro 2 years ago

      Ad

Falla is drifting as though he’s backed Kokkinakis himself so I expect you to be cursing me later probably be a 6/1 6/2 demolition for Kokkinankis now 😉

      • Ad 2 years ago

Putting a female in for the first time is my own damn fault. I told myself I wouldn’t do it at the start but I got myself all tied in knots today. Ah well, a £7.50 starting stake is no great loss. I will start again and stick with the men this time!

  34. insider 2 years ago

Jordan just seen that Ladbrokes are only allowed a max bet of 200 on frank mir maybe they see it coming 😉 haha

  35. Jordan 2 years ago

Haha maybe mate it’s the UFC after all. One clean punch/kick and the fat lady sings.

Looks as if 365 are waiting on the same news as I am, and that’s if Durant will feature for OKC. Will have something up after but it’s not looking my most confident of NBA bets in recent days.

  36. OriaZ 2 years ago

Hey AD! Didn’t manage to connect to the site and see your suggestion for the rolling acca. Would have followed anyways

I was about to say that there’s nothing pushing you to post a tip for the acca every day, if there’s nothing you fancy for the day, just say it and keep the acca rolling later.

Anyways, I hope you’ll keep posting cause you sure made me some ££ lately.

    • Ad 2 years ago

Cheers Oriaz. Wise words, I wasn’t as confident today as I had been for the previous picks so yeah, I should’ve waited till there was something I was happier with. I’ll post something tonight if I find something I like from tomorrow.

  37. Jordan 2 years ago

Biting the bullet and hoping Durant will play although I should think they they could pull off the win without him as they did on the road last night in Charlotte who are good at home.

    Dallas Mavericks -2
    OKC Thunder ML
    Orlando Magic -2.5

    @ just under EVS @ 365

Smaller stakes than usual if you’re follwing.

  38. Jordan 2 years ago

This 20% bonus 5 fold only pays 13/10 @ PP so with the added 20% it would pay a shade under 6/4. Not brilliant but odds I think worth going with all on the ML.

    Cleveland Cavaliers
    OKC Thunder
    Dallas Mavericks
    Golden State Warriors
    Orlando Magic

  39. Ad 2 years ago

      Ad

Too True – you’ve been there I can see – so many ups and downs – left feeling totally deflated despite the win pal, I was climbing up the walls and normally I am cool or coolish.

Horses have given me a kicking today so needed that extra 9/1 payday,
if any of the other 3 can win later it becomes a very good day – If all three bomb then even with the 9/1 I am slightly down on the day :-)

  40. WN 2 years ago

Lebron James is at the garden tonight so I expect a big game from him as usual.

PP has lebron James at 5/6 for over 25.5pts which looks a steal, gone big.

  41. De Niro 2 years ago

    ATP Dubai

    Federer at 4/1 to win
    – in tho other side of draw from Federer and has to play Murray to get to the final but I think he will beat Murray

    ATP Buenos Aires
N Almagro 16/1 to win ladbrokes / stan james
    – in the other side of the draw from Nadal and I think he can beat P Cuevas & Robredo to reach the final and would rather take 16/1 on him than 9/1 on Cuevas

    • Ad 2 years ago

Well i’m glad he landed for you in the end. Tennis can be a nerve shredder at times!

Not sure I fancy any of those upsets to come off but I wish you luck my man. I’m off the tennis till tomorrow. Almagro will be one leg in my new rolling acca, definitely think he will take down Andujar. I’d like to think he can get the better of Cuevas but he must be suffering from a bit of an inferiority complex in that matcup right now. I haven’t looked at the draws properly yet but I’ll post my thoughts when I have. Good luck.

Snurky- an impressive return to the fold. Really unlucky Ferrer didn’t close out the second set 6-1 or 6-2 as well. Good work.

  45. Jordan 2 years ago

He’s questionable Don. He had a big game against the Nuggets in the last h2h but the way Westbrook has been playing then he can be the man on the night. They probably had the best trades out of any team and the edition of Kanter to back up Ibaka was a big boost. Ibaka the best shooting PF in the NBA. Even with or without Durant they would have known last night what the game plan was. I think the rest last night was for this game. Fingers crossed anyway.

Don corleone nice one for those tips, quickly had a look through last night and backed them, will be on some tonight if you post again!

  47. thechief 2 years ago

Afternoon Guys, St Helens v South Sydney Rabbitohs

The world club challenge is here and what a game it could be. South’s are the bookies favourites to win and are giving up 6pts on the handicap by most bookies. It is -4 at 10/11 with Bet365, and whilst I would love to see the saints win, I cant see past a win for the Bunnies.

Russell Crowe the owner of South’s has snubbed canapé and Crystal Champagne at the Oscars to go to St Helens were he more likely to get a pastie and a warm glass of Cava! It is pouring down, up and down the country and that will favour Saints as they down want to get involved in a high scoring game, they want to use their pack, get to the kick and keep South’s away from their twenty metre line.

The Bunnies who lost Great Britain star Sam Burgess to union still have a host of quality, the Burgess brothers, especially George is a quality forward. Adam Reynolds the half back is an exceptional player, Greg Inglis is regarded as the best player in the world. Both sides have great hookers in Isaac Luke & James Roby, while former Wigan Head coach Michael Maguire is the coach of the Bunnies and has fond memories of beating St Helens.

For a try scorer in this match look no further than Greg Inglis, as I said the full back is the best player in the world, he will captain the Bunnies tonight and his scoring record is amazing. He as scored 47 in 84 games for his club and for Australia he has scored 27 in 33 games. He will be chiming into the line at every opportunity and will make life tough for the Saints defence. He is 11/8 Ladbrokes.

Another try scorer I like is the sensational youngster Alex Johnston. The winger made his debut last season and scored 21 tries in 18 games. He is lightening quick and scored the first try in the NRL grand final. He is 11/10 Bet365. For Saints I would look at Tommy Makinson at 13/8

Those are my main bets but with it being a big game I am having a punt on the man of the match. If you decide to follow then only play for small stakes. Greg Inglis is the favourite and if it was a warm dry night I wouldn’t oppose him, however with the conditions tonight I think it needs organisation and some one who can produce that bit of magic. If you fancy Saints to win then James Roby is were you should look at 7/1 Hills, but for me I think the Bunnies win and will be on hooker Isaac Luke 12/1 and the sensational Adam Reynolds at 10/1 both at Skybet

SOUTH SYDNEY -4 TO WIN 10/11
    INGLIS TO SCORE 11/8
    JOHNSTON TO SCORE 11/10

    SMALL STAKES

LUKE TO WIN MAN OF THE MATCH 12/1
REYNOLDS TO WIN MAN OF THE MATCH 10/1

Good luck if your having a bet

  60. thechief 2 years ago

OriaZ, you maybe a lucky charm, Bunnies dominated that first half so handicap looking good and Inglis scored, just need Johnston for a full house :)

  61. thechief 2 years ago

Man of match bets, well if the second half goes the first were on the right team, if Inglis scores again or twice then he will prove a popular winner, and he was favourite. Isaac Luke done well, saved a try at 8-0 but Adam Reynolds had good first half, created two tries and kicked goals.

Check in after the game finished, Good luck everyone.

Anybody got any thoughts on the tennis match between Strycova v Lisicki tomorrow?

    • Ad 2 years ago

Lisicki matches where the odds are fairly even aren’t really worth betting on in my opinion. You just don’t know what you’ll get from her. But my guess is she loses tomorrow. Strycova is playing pretty well and is steady enough to make Lisicki pay for her error count (I’m guessing it’s pretty high!)

  67. Don_Corleone 2 years ago

this is what im on tonight fellas.

after looking into it abit more im willing to take okc in my treble after seeing denver losing there 2nd best scorer even if durant does or doesnt play then okc should still win this, the quality should show in the end.

No Durant fellas so doubts on OKC but I’m not scared! Westbrook making a late case for MVP and Ibaka and Kanter will control the centre of the home court (he says).

Don we’re on the same track mate, GSW were the team to swap but I’m taking home courts tonight. All the best mate.

Curry will not play tonight!! Just seen the Pacer spread drop and knew something was wrong!

  71. Don_Corleone 2 years ago

in all honesty i didnt see about the curry situation i did wonder why they were 2/5 tbh with you, they would normally be about 1/5 even away from home! i still think gsw will do the buisness! fingers crossed

  72. Don_Corleone 2 years ago

They’re on the road Don. I went on ESPN and the Curry report was 7 minutes old.

    Monday Tennis:

    ATP Buenos Aires:

    Blaz rola d Jiri Vesely @ 5/2

In what is likely to be little bit of a one dimensional serve fest the value is surely with the underdog. Vesely started the year in sensational form, winning the Aukland title and toppling some big names along the way. That was on a hard court though and, coming just before the first grand slam of the year, it’s often the perfect time to upset good players as they have one eye on Melbourne (Heather Watson won the WTA title which took place at the same time!)
Veseley hasn’t yet won a match on clay this year, though in fairness the two he’s played have been against Cuevas and Fognini. Against Fognini though he did very little other than get his first serve in. He made errors and generally didn’t play a good all round match. If Rola is on his game and Vesely doesn’t step his up he should be able to hang with Vesely on the service front and wear him down in the longer rallies they get in to. Maybe not, but worth a go anyway!

thats why im getting confused about golden state on the road when i was looking earlier everywhere said they are away but when i was putting the bets on betfair had it priced that gs were in golden state theyve now suspended the market. gutted about curry but fingers crossed

  76. Don_Corleone 2 years ago

golden state price has now gone up due to curry news.

  77. BobbyC 2 years ago

    I had a £20 double on Cavs -9 and GSW – 2.4 @ evens.

I have the option to cash out now for £20, do you think it’s worth doing so without Curry in the lineup, or should GSW cover the -2.5?

    Advice appreciated!

  78. Don_Corleone 2 years ago

Betfair homes and on the roads are all the complete opposite, they have orlando away, golden state at home and okc away. terrible from them, iv actually forgotten whos where now i had to double check.

  79. WN 2 years ago

You have to be careful Don, some bookmakers show it as @ and some vs.

But just to clarify, GSW away, OKC home, Orlando home.

    ATP Buenos Aires.

    Olivo d Nieminen @ 17/10

Good clay court form, crowd behind him, some wins over big players on clay last year to give him extra confidence on home soil. Nieminen hasn’t really done much on clay for a long time and unless he’s really on his game I think he could have a real scrap on his hands here.

(when i say big names I really just mean he beat Tommy Robredo on clay in Bastad! That’s pretty good going though)

  81. Don_Corleone 2 years ago

WN yeah Betfair have it Indiana @ gs. Magic @ Philly.

Did she completely tank? I had a few quid on Chirico so I’m not complaining! 6-0 third set raised my eyebrows though.

Ad, Scotland have finally got a wicket and Dustin Johnson has lost the play-off so another second place for Ace. Goodnight all.

Falling like flies! We will all be waking up to a famous Scottish victory.

Thats more like it, Ibake done before HT.

Warriors better get moving…bit of a worry if they can’t beat Pacers just cod they’re missing Curry. Thought they were more than a 1 man band to be honest!

  88. Jordan 2 years ago

Pacers have scored 100 or more in 5 of their last 6 Attila. Was always going be tight without Curry but an outright win would be a shock.

  89. Jordan 2 years ago

Thompson has even scored 39 points. Wouldn’t be close if Curry was in.

  90. Jordan 2 years ago

Magic cover the -2.5 and the others looking good for now. OKC are 28 up so I can’t see them losing that. I’m covering on Charlotte +3.5 @ 5/1 @ PP

  91. Don_Corleone 2 years ago

Looks like warriors have let the treble down whitewashed em in the 1st then lost every quarter. They should have had enough without curry but just think the everything was dropping for the pacers.
