Such is the life of a football tipster. One minute you're a hero, one Super Single collapse later you're a zero.
After a disappointing January on the Super Singles I was excited by the start of a new month and thrilled to see Derby storm into a 3-1 lead at Birmingham.
Having witnessed last weekend's choice Scunthorpe throw away a 3-0 lead I suggested covering the bet at that point and put out a full-blown warning when County conceded a second.
I still couldn't believe it when Brum levelled and at least I covered. Derby beat the single but Brentford also conceded in the final minute at Shrewsbury so both sides toppled the Top Treble.
I have no idea what next weekend's Super Single will be – but whoever it is remember to back them to draw 3-3!
It was never going to be an easy card but at least all of my bets on the Aberdeen v St Johnstone League Cup semi-final came up.
Aberdeen face the winners of Hearts and Inverness today and my tips will be on a separate thread with Celtic v St Mirren predictions.
Most of the sides I like on Sunday are pretty short-priced – the likes of Juventus v Inter, Roma v Parma, Real Madrid at Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid v Real Sociedad. The Spanish duo will be keen to win and take advantage of Barcelona's surprise defeat to Valencia yesterday.
I also fancy Genoa at home to Sampdoria (a possible Super Single) while Bayern Munich of course are extremely short at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.
In England I'll be on Liverpool, so impressive in beating Everton 4-0 in midweek, and Arsenal at home to Crystal Palace although again they are short.
Having considered the sides I like I came up with a Super Single shortlist of three – Santi Cazorla, with five goals in five games for Arsenal – to score at 6-4 with Ladbrokes, Celtic -2 and Luis Suarez to score first.
However, as most of the teams I like are short-priced I'm doing something I've not done before and picking a double as the Super Single. I can't see past Juventus, 10 home wins in 11 this season, at home to a struggling Inter and Atletico, trying to make it five victories in six, at home to Sociedad.
If this double doesn't come in I promise no more Super Single doubles.
January's gone so anyone backing the Super Single to £10 stakes in February would of course be £10 down this month.

This game just looks set for tons of goals. NEC’s last 3 home matches have seen 16 goals and Go Ahead’s last 5 away matches have seen 20 goals. 8 of 10 NEC home matches have gone over 3.5 goals with the other 2 going over 2.5. 8 of Go Ahead’s 10 have gone over 2.5 and 6 have gone over 3.5 goals. 4 or more goals here pays 6/5 and I’m all over that. I’ve seen Yeovil first hand recently against Bournemouth and if we could finish, we could have had 10 against them. They simply cannot defend, especially away from home. They’ve conceded 3 or more in 3 of their last 4 away matches and come up against a Forest side bursting with confidence. 4 against Watford in the week and they hit 4 in their previous home game too (not to mention the 5 they hit past a very sorry West Ham side). I fancy Forest to run riot here and over 2.5 team goals pays 6/4.
CELTIC V ST MIRREN 3:00pm
Celtic are just irresistible at the moment and there’s little point in me putting stats up for this one. But St Mirren have conceded 12 goals in their last 5 away matches, whereas Celtic have scored at 15 goals in their last 4 Scottish Premiership matches. This could be a big scoreline and I’m backing a Celtic win and over 3.5 goals which pays 11/8.
ATLETIC BILBAO V REAL MADRID 8:00pm
There is an amazing stat in this encounter. In 11 of the last 12 meetings between the two sides, Madrid have scored at least 3 goals, including in each of the last 8. They’ve won the last 3 meetings at Bilbao 0-3 and I am not banking on this run of scoring stopping. Madrid will smell blood after Barca’s shock defeat to Valencia yesterday and after hitting 16 goals in their last 5 away matches, they will be in confident mood. Bilbao haven’t conceded 3 or more at home this season, but have conceded in all but 2 of their home matches. This one is more about H2H than form, but you can’t ignore stats like that. Real Madrid over 2.5 team goals pays 11/8.

I was just mapping co-ordinates for the day ahead and Forest scoring 3 jumped out at me, so nice to see that confirmed, though with them, NEC and Real I be getting on them in a race to 3 at 15/8, 23/10 and 2/1. Enhanced booty barring the unlikely possibility of both teams scoring 3 goals.

One I fancy for tomorrow is FC Utrecht to score over 1.5 team goals at home to Ajax at 5/2 with Bet365. Not a tip as such, but Utrecht have scored 2 or more in 8 of their 11 home league games this season, so despite the fact they’re playing against the leagues top side, I think 5/2 is pretty good value for a small stakes bet. Ajax don’t generally concede that many, but did concede 2 at Heerenveen, Alkmaar and PSV who all have similar home records to Utrecht.
Scott, I am with you, what is more for Utrecht the game against Ajax seems the most important in whole season. They just hate each other.
Man City v Chelsea – Correct score 2-1
This game could be a banana skin but the odds for a Man City win at the Etihad are just too high for us to miss out on. Chelsea are a good side and they will be in the title race, but their lack of consistency in front of goal could cost them the Premier League title. The same can’t be said for Manchester City as they are scoring goals left right and centre. Unfortunately the injury to Aguero reduced their potency but with Negredo, Dzeko and Jovetic all able to find the net, they are dangerous. Chelsea are a well organised team but lapses at the back can cost them, and it’s likely to against such a clever attack. Jose will set his team up defensively and it should be a close fixture. We still think City will win, even without Aguero.
Im a 39 year City fan, Mourinho will set his side for a point here and hope City drop elsewhere. He’s a tactician. Chelsea will defend for their lives, and as much as it will break my heart, Chelsea will get a breakaway goal. I’ve only ever given 2 tips on here before – City v Blackburn (cup) 1-1. 16/1 – win. Chelsea v Hull 2-0 (with write-up how game would unravel) – win. Was bang on, 8-1!. A couple teams hit city for a 1-0 this season , Sunderland if i remember. Another team that may have the firepower to land 3 goals is Twente who be at home to Cambuur. Twente have 28 goals from 10 home games (conceding 10) and have scored 14 in their last 5 (losing 7). Cambuur keep a fairly tight ship at home, but they get seasick when on their travels. 10 played away, no wins, 4 scored and 18 conceded, and 12 shipped in the last 5.
Me hearties Coral will give 7/5 on Twente race to 3, but I definitely NOT be tipping that (wink).

Hey, a quick question for all of ya expierienced punters out there. Yesterday in milan torino game i placed an asian handicap +1.0 bet inplay for torino just after they scored the opener at the odds of 1.790. In inprinciple the bet should come in if the game ended in torino’s victory and a draw(which it did) and if they were to lose by 1 goal the stake should be refunded. To my great suprise few hours after the winnings were already placed in my account bet victor have retracted the money changing the winning bet status to void.
Does this happen on regular basis? I mean, i understand that the odds were extremely generous, probably due to some system error but still the bet was accepted and payed for. Should i contact bet victor or just get used to bookies slickness of this sort.

Makak that happened to me one day there was a horse I have followed a lot and I saw it running one day but it was a terrible price then I just happened to click into my account and I saw it was a different price but quite a lot better than it was so I bet it then thinking this is a steal and it did win so it was easy money won for me I thought. Went into my account later on after the money was in my account and realised they had taken it back out and gave me what it returned at (the terrible price). Can see a few goals in the Liverpool game tomorrow. McAuleys still out injured and Suarez and Sturridge should run rings round his replacement Lugano, who looked very exposed against an average Villa team. His lack of pace will be a big problem and I’m not convinced that having played with Suarez with Uraguay will give him that much of an edge. Liverpool themselves are prone to conceding a few and I wouldn’t be shocked if West Brom managed to nick at least one.

Also going to have a dabble in the Arsenal v Crystal Palace game. Palace are a much improved team under Pulis and and reasonably well organised. Arsenal haven’t been at their best lately and some of their wins look a bit laboured. Since the beginning of November Arsenal at home have only conceded one goal but have failed to score more than 2 at the emirates in the same period. None of their last seven home games has seen over 2.5 goals. Crystal Palace on the other hand have only scored 5 away goals all season. Away from home they have only conceded more than 2 goals once all season (against Liverpool) and that includes games against Man city and Chelsea. Only one of their last seven away games has been over 2.5 goals. Bit of dodgier selection as a single Palace goal kills the bet and I’m sure most people wont go for it but the stats back it up. Now watch Arsenal go out and hammer Palace by 5 haha

Your money will find the way to your account but nobody will be able to take anything out. Simples. I used to work for a bank. Sane thing applies to these legalised loan sharks such as Wonga. We advised customers to cancel their back card and have a new card sent out as these companies were basically emptying bank account. Just lose the card and nothing can be taken out due to the fact it’s been lost an immediate block is placed on the card.

Re. The superbowl,Harvin is not a bad shout at 25/1 but he’d probably only win MVP if he played the greatest game of football ever seen, even then chances are it go’s to the winning QB, seems to be a more sentimental award than a performance based award.
My thoughts on the game go against most experts opinions, yes the no.1 offense against the no.1 defense should make for a good matchup on paper but I see mis-matches man to man all over the field in favour of Denver.
Moreno will pound it for short gains, there will be a load of screen passes to Welker for short yardage, then when the Seattle secondary gets sucked in to the line to stop the short yardage Manning will bomb them long down the field, in other words I don’t see anything spectacular but Denver have all the weapons and mindset to systematically pick the Seahawks apart.
On the other hand Seattle don’t have the offensive weapons to do that to Denver, Lynch will run the ball time and time again, may break a few big runs but when you’re that predictable you sooner rather than later become very easy to shut down.
For me Denver will win quite convincingly at a bit of a canter, I’ve taken a handicap of 6 to be safe at 2/1 but I can see it bring around 34-14 to Denver. Which means that Manning will be 99.9% guaranteed to win MVP, especially after a record breaking season.

Greg, had we played the first half the way we played after losing a goal we would be in the final mate. I posted last night when asked about it that I reckoned we would go a goal down but draw 1-1 or 2-2, Hearts are very predictable. No great loss as the team will learn a hard lesson and go on from there. I just feel bad for Mr F as his 14/1 shot was within grasp but when Hamill missed you knew it was over.

Spot on Greg, Aberdeen will love Hampden and have players who will have a field day against a very very average Caley team. Very hard losing to them but if you put it into perspective by looking at the overall Hearts team this season you can see that Caley just will not be able to trouble Aberdeen.

We’ve heard of both of these sides, so, here it’s a judgement call. I think that Palmeiras will have enough. They’re a machine at home and, in this Campeonato series, two weeks ago, Sao Paulo lost 2-0 away to Bragantino, who were fourth-worst home in Serie B during the regular season.

I mean… I hate to base this on size of stadiums, but URT play in a stadium with a capacity of just under 3,000, whereas Boa’s is 15 times that size. True, Boa were only 11th in Serie B, and, additionally, really weren’t great away, but I just don’t see URT have much pedigree or history to trouble the major league side.

Basically, Brazil is a huge country geographically, so, they were very slow to develop national leagues, and their regional championships became hugely important and prestigious. So, when transport infrastucture became good enough to look at a national league system, the regional championships were well enough established for everyone to want to continue with them. So, half the year, they play regional leagues – first half of the year – then from July onwards, they play national leagues. It’s all the same teams from Serie A & B – PLUS a whole bunch of not-quite-so-good sides who make up the numbers.
So, we’re making assumptions that they should lose if they play the teams we’ve heard of. I agree it’s not that sophisticated. ;-)

De Andre, that’s interesting that you rate nfl so highly. My top 5 would be football, snooker, nhl, horse racing and boxing. I understand that the physical side of nfl is a massive draw but you get all that with nhl along with it being the worlds fastest sport!
Don’t know much about American football but iv’e lumped on slight fav’s Brinco’s purely for the fact that Floyd Mayweather has put 10.4 million dollars on them to win, and he doesn’t normally put a finger wrong inside or outside of the ring with his big bets. Yes but is no fighting allowed in nfl which is a concern. Players have to be able to let of steam probably more so on the ice, otherwise we end up with incidents such as Marty Mc Sorley slashing Donald Brashear flush in the face with his stick!!

Superbowl. Denver v Seattle
The number 1 offence Denver face off against the number 1 defence Seattle. When picking a winner you have to decide weather the old saying defences wins championships, or weather Peyton Manning has to many weapons for this awesome Seahawks D.
Seattle secondary call themselves “the legion of boom” and they will have to play a perfect game tonight. The biggest question is can their front seven get to Manning? If Peyton has time in the pocket he will find holes in the secondary.
Denver will be missing their cornerback Chris Harris, whilst Percy Harvin is expected to be back and that will give Seahawks QB Russell Wilson an extra weapon. Wilson played in the biggest game of his young career in the NFC championship game and looked very nervous, how will he handle the pressure?
In my opinion, Denver wins they have so many weapons on offence, even RB Moreno can catch passes out the backfield. Even though Denver will be a bit thin in the secondary I think they will be happy to stop “man beast” Marshawyn Lynch running over them and let Wilson try and win it with his arm. Denver 5/6 Various.

This to some degree as been Manning’s season. He missed the whole of the 2011 season with a neck injury, and some critics didn’t he get back to this level. His journey is almost complete, he has the chance to be a multiple MVP winner and to win it in his brothers house. Last night he walked off with the league MVP award and tonight he makes history by becoming the first starting QB to lead two franchises to a superbowl title. Games played same time as state games so they’ll rest players for mid week libertadores games. Other big teams also rest players for start of main league. This game will be won in the trenches and Marshawn lynch will keep Russell in manageable situations. Moreno will struggle forcing manning to pass against the no1 defence. Seattle are more prepared and by that I mean they have had the much tougher schedule coming in, of u look at the fixtures both sides have played all year Seattle have had much harder schedule, I know Seattle are underdogs but when this market first opened Seattle were favoured by 1pt it is only public money and loving of Peyton that has made Denver favs.

Richard Sherman, the half decent but seriously overrated nut job could get shown up for what he is tonight. The superbowl will have nothing to do with schedules and past play, its gonna be about the serious mis-matches all over the field in Denvers favour, Manning won’t do anything spectacular but he will pick Seattle apart all over the field from behind the run. As much as I like Lynch for the way he plays and runs, he can’t do it alone and offensive options are pretty thin for them so when plan A doesn’t work out I can’t see where they go.

Lee, it will be interesting. Chris Harris is out and a 35yr old Champ Bailey will be on Percy Harvin. Percy will be moved all over the line, they have the matchups, just don’t trust Wilson. Had 49ers won the Championship game, I would take them on or if Saints or Packers had got through.
Put Sherman in a team with no pass rush and watch his stats go through the floor, man him up to a proper WR (not Crabtree)and he might be physical and strong but he falls of his coverage far too much and is gonna hurt his team tonight because he’s not as good as his stats make out, the pass rush force the throws that he picks, Manning won’t be forced, if he is he won’t just toss it up.
Even Revis would suck without a pash rush, the rules nowadays dictate that if you don’t pressure the QB you will not win

Exactly DeAndre, but there’s Jacksonville pass rush and then there’s Seattle pass rush, I know which one I’d want to face everyday of the week.
Sherman is good, very good, I’m not saying he’s useless, he reminds me of Polimalu a lot, but his attitude and especially after the outburst means he almost has no choice but to try and make superstar plays but you jump routes against a QB like Manning and he will make you look silly sooner or later.
Different positions and Polamalu is a lot more reckless as regards coverage, loves to attack the QB.

The chief I think this game could be 1-6 pts either way there are reasons to make cases for both sides I just feel the toughest team will win this battle not the most flamboyant. In terms of MVP if Denver win Peyton is the man, if Seattle win it will be down to lynch. Lynch overall yards 103 is a good bet as he will get lots of dump offs, Wilson over 33yds too is worth a look
THE SUPER BOWL LOWDOWN
I don’t know how closely people on here have followed the betting on the Super Bowl but when Vegas bookmakers first opened the line for this match 2 weeks ago they made Seattle a 2/2.5 point favourite.
Very quickly the line moved the other way with Denver becoming a 2 point fav and the line has stayed there pretty much ever since.
Now why the move to Denver? Well the American public is much more in love with the Bronco franchise and Peyton Manning than the unfashionable Seahawks from the pacific North West and the public far enjoy watching an offensive juggernaut over a defensive one.
So it’s public money or Square money as they like to call it in Sin City which has made Denver the favourite tonight and the American public might be right it’s a hard match to call.
But be aware the Sharp money or professional money will be on the Seahawks tonight they are the value.
The reason they are the value is easy ask yourself what would the betting be if San Francisco played Denver? The answer is easy the game would be a pick em as The 49ers just like the Broncos are a public favourite with fans all over the world and the weight of money from each side would be equal.
I can’t tell you who will win tonight but I can tell you the bettings wrong and Seattle should be fav so if you have to have a bet take them and swim against the tide with a bit of value.

For Seattle it revolves around their star man RB Lynch. If they are to win he needs a big game and is over/under rushing yards is set at 88.5 at 10/11 William Hill. I will take the overs here as I think he will be pushing the 100yd mark if not even going over that.
