IT'S FA Cup weekend and everyone knows what that means. Forget about stats and form – focus only on team news.
If possible don't have a bet until you see line-ups but that's not possible for me when putting up tips and from 2pm-4pm I'll be at the football.
However, good old Claudio Ranieri confirmed on Thursday he would make 10 changes so I advised Millwall to beat Leicester at 21-10 with Coral. And it looks like Huddersfield will be weakened for their home meeting with Man City as they focus on Tuesday's promotion clash with Reading.
Chelsea and Man City should win with strong teams and Burnley should be OK at home to Lincoln. Oxford could surprise a weakened Middlesbrough but depends on the Premier League side's line-up.
Overall it's a tough card and form can be affected down the leagues after midweek games so my advice is take it easy today and maybe focus on goals even more than usual. There have been some funny results in the Championship recently but in midweek every team scored except Wolves.
My second Super Single is Mansfield to score 2+ at struggling Grimsby. Mansfield were my Super Single in midweek when they were held 4-4 at home to Accrington. Reckon they'l get back to winning ways but for the SS Mansfield to score 2+ could be the safer bet.
In Scotland everyone will focus on how many goals Celtic will score against a Motherwell side that leaked seven at Aberdeen in midweek and five at Parkhead earlier in the season as well as seven last campaign. Celtic are likely to score four or five plus but bookies aren't giving much away.
I'll post separate Scottish and English betting previews.
Last night wasn't great as Monaco beat my Super Single double and the goals bet crashed with the help of Top Oss whose run of over 2.5 goals games ended with a 1-1 draw.

Yeah that’s one of my Super Singles – Mansfield to score 2+.
Two bets were downed early yesterday with the Jets failing to score down under but De Belder scored for Lierse to land my goalscorer bet and soften the blow.
Today I’m on two English sides with very decent value at home against opposition who have been leaking the goals on their travels. I’m not one to back WDW, but Shrewsbury look an excellent price to score at home against Wimbledon who have lost four in five on the road and are big at 17/10. The Shrews have won four of five at home at look a good price @ 4/11 to score.
Double that up with Barnsley to net at home to promotion chasing Brighton. Barnsley unbeaten in four of their last five will have a tough ask, but Brighton have been leaky in defence recently and the pressure is on to keep chase with Newcastle. They have one clean sheet in their last eight league games and not a clean sheet away from home since the start of December, also conceding 8 in their last three on the road. Barnsley aren’t big scorers at home but have only failed to net three times in 16 home games this season. I do think we’ll see BTTS here and Hemed is a man in form for Brighton and can be backed anytime @ 2/1 with Skybet.

Zidane’s men are coming into this match on high confidence after beating Napoli 3-1 in champions League and even though Espanyol are not a team that concede many but they have been hammered by Madrid in recent meetings. Madrid have won last 9 h2h against Espanyol and bookies are giving nothing away simply but the value lies in Madrid -1 @1/2 with bet365. I like Madrid HT/FT better and its priced @ 8/15. Tonight in round 20 of the A-League, we have 3 games, and I’m hoping to overturn the defecit from yesterday. Cards came in easy as you like, but goals were naught to be seen after a really bad defensive display from the Jets.
Wellington Phoenix v Melbourne City:
The Phoenix are always strong at the Westpac Stadium, and do see the return of Smeltz and Rossi to bolster their squad strength. Although the loss of Finkler and Durante to suspension won’t help.
City have a host of players back from suspension which should see them lift their game considerably, as seven key players are back today, all of which have had an extra week’s rest. Muscat, Malik, Cahill, Fornaroli, Brattan and Brandan all return for this game, although they do miss Bouzanis and Franjic. Unlike last night’s defensive display by the Jets, this one really should see goals.
Western Sydney Wanderers v Sydney FC:
The Sydney derby returns, with Wanderers maintaining the dubious honour of having the worst home record in the league, against the leading lights this year in Sydney, who have won 8 in 10 away games thus far. Wanderers welcome Ryan Griffiths to the side, but lose captain Dimas to suspension. Sydney get O’Neill back in a boost to their already impressive squad, but they can seemingly do no wrong, and should nick the win yet again.
Most importantly for me, “card happy” Chris Beath is tonight’s ref, and given this is a derby and always fiery… that is my market preference on this one, with the onus being on Sydney who pick up more cards than most clubs in the league.
Perth Glory v Brisbane Roar:
Glory host the Roar, with Glory being in fine scoring form of late. Their defense is rather poor however, and will give up goals to most sides. Roar equally have found their scoring boots recently, although time will tell whether fatigue from travelling in the ACL will hurt them or not. Traditionally when these two face eachother in Perth, it’s a firecracker. The last 3 H2H matches here have been: 6-3; 2-2 & 3-2… and the way both sides are right now, with Glory humming but with a poor defense, I expect more of the same.

A colleague of mine happened to mention he was off to Iceland for a few days next week, “Ohh Iceland” I said.

Last night went well as I managed to avoid the standout Dutch games and found goals in Sittard. Today sees a Saturday card with a lot going on – various leagues and competitions to consider, as well as factoring in those with games in midweek. Still, I actually struggled to decide between three selections today, so the following picks will all be level stakes (though the 4th pick is to half stakes). That’s a couple more selections than I’d usually like but it can pay off as much as it can all go pear shaped!
First up is Barnsley v Brighton. Brighton come into this game have conceded in 5 straight games in all competitions. This includes conceding at home to Ipswich and Burton, where they usually keep clean sheets on a regular basis. Away from home, they’ve conceded 2 or more to Preston, Huddersfield and Brentford in their last 3 in the league. In fact, they’ve not kept a clean sheet away since the start of December.
Coupling Brighton’s poor defensive form are Barnsley’s home exploits. Though they’ve played out a couple of 0-0 draws in recent weeks, Barnsley’s home games usually see goals, and usually for either side. Their goal difference reads 27:26 from 16 home games, so I like the look of BTTS here.

Next up is Boston v Darlington. Bet365 usually offer a decent price on this market despite it not showing up on Oddschecker (always worth checking out 365’s price). Today they’ve priced up this market in the National League North and South games and, in this case, done so at great value. Much of my reasoning for this pick lies in Darlington’s away form. All but 1 away game for Darlington this season has seen BTTS, and I feel we should see the same today with Boston coming off the back of a good home win against Chorley.
Hopefully that leads to goals.

The last of the level stakes picks involves two sides close to my betting heart. Quite simply, I think the bookies are underestimating Fleetwood massively today. They’ve lost just once in their last 20 games, and that was in the FA Cup to higher ranked opposition. Fleetwood’s Double Chance price sits as big as 3/4 when they vist MK Dons today, but I think the real value lies in their price to score. Fleetwood have scored in every away league game this season.
On the other hand, MK Dons have conceded in 4 of their last 5 home games despite entering some decent home form. For the season, they’ve conceded 27 in 16 at home, so the price of 1/2 (last night) on Fleetwood to score is simply too big. Add Young Boys whose home form needs no introduction against a St Gallen side they rarely fail to put a few past.
