IT was a pretty good night for followers of goals – especially if you looked at Championship games.
Every team scored except Wolves and nine out of 11 matches went over 2.5 goals.
I felt I missed out on Tuesday with Barcelona beating my btts treble, Brighton downing the Top Treble and well-backed Super Single Mansfield being held 4-4 by Accrington in a crazy game. I tipped over 3.5 goals at PSG but never for a minute thought they'd all go to the home men.
Elsewhere I doff my hat to Jordan, Greg, Scott and Desmond. It was three out of three winners for Jordan, two out of two for Greg and two out of two for Scott. And Desmond's 2+ goals double landed at 4-1 and he was just two goals short of landing a 177-1 sevenfold.
At least my Daily Double on the app won but Oxford crashed my members bet. My Super Single in the Daily Record also won and my Star Bet was two draws in the Scottish Cup replays at 11-1 – doesn't help my site stats though.
Tonight there are two more Champions League last-16 ties and I've posted a preview of Bayern Munich v Arsenal and Real Madrid v Napoli. Both could provide goals and if pushed I'd take home wins.
In the Scottish Premiership Aberdeen should continue their fine form by beating Motherwell at home but are no bigger than 2-5.
There's not much else to look so I'm risking 1pt on overs in the Champions League ties and Aberdeen to win. The Dons have won seven out of eight and Well have lost three out of four.

You need luck in gambling and I very much got that last night. Chesterfield and Wimbledon both scored in the 93rd and 94th minute of their games to bring up my Over 1.5 Goals Treble. The earlier bets posted went a lot more smoothly with the main Champions League Double in by the 48th minute, with Preston never going behind at home to Birmingham and getting the 3 points. Much like the value in the home sides last night, I think their is value on Arsenal and Napoli tonight. Maybe not to get a result, but grabbing a goal. Arsenal are no strangers to trips to Munich and have scored in their last four games at the Allianz. Bayern were once a strong defensive unit but that hasn’t been the case over the past few seasons. They’ve conceded in 4 of 6 group games, but only once at home to PSV. Arsenal have also conceded in 4 of 6 group games this season, with all three away ties seeing BTTS against PSG, Ludogorets and Basel. While BTTS looks the bet here, I’m be much more inclined to take Arsenals goal time of before 75:00. The last time Arsenal scored away from home was April last year, and they always seem to push Bayern in Germany, so I’ll happily take the goal over the 90+. The goal time may even rise as it’s gone up from 73:00 but even then I would have likely jumped on if I didn’t think Napoli can’t score in Madrid. Skybet are offering Arsenal to score and 4+ corners @ 5/2 which looks good value but I can’t back corners as a tip in a game without a heavy favourite.
Strangely this will be the first ever match up when Real Madrid host Napoli in Madrid, so no h2h to go by. That’s fine by me as I would always put forward form, and we should have goals here. All 6 of Madrid’s group games saw BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals, with 5 of Napoli’s 6 seeing BTTS, with two on the road seeing BTTS & Over 2.5. Napoli are being more respected than Arsenal, and their goal time is lower at 66:00. While still decent I can’t see Madrid not scoring a couple themselves, and if Napoli can get two, even better. Skybet are giving 7/1 for BTTS, both teams 4+ corners and both teams 20+ booking points, but again I don’t like tipping corners as you need deflections or saves to help you out.

Another game in Portugal this week that I’ve picked out for goals but this time it’s in the Segunda League in a match that sees 2nd from bottom Sporting Lisbon B host 5th place Varzim.
Sporting are on an 11 game winless run keeping just 1 clean sheet in those matches. They have won just 3 from 12 at home but they are a team that love a goal at home having scored in all 12 league outings on their own patch this season but unfortunately for them they have also conceded in all 12 games so BTTS has landed in 12/12.They have scored 21 and conceded 21 in those 12 matches at an average 3.5gls per game. They have conceded 2+ in 50% of their homes.
Varzim by contrast are in fine form and unbeaten in 9(6 wins & 3 draws)and 7 of 9 seen both teams notch a goal. They won all 4 aways in that sequence,scoring 2+ in all 4 including a couple of impressive 2-1 wins against Aves(2nd) and Benfica B(4th) in the most recent 2 aways. Looking at skys request a bets and arsenal corners feature in some high odds ones. Research time i think.
Looks a great price on paper but PSV, Rostov and Atletico only managed 1 corner between them in the group stages. Plus the last 3 H2H’s at Bayern, Arsenal got 1, 5 & 1 corner. Think the fact that bayern play the possesion game doesn’t help but bookies will probably be looking at that aswell. All depends on an early goal as 1st leg in the KO’s always tight, bar PSG ? Couldn’t get my bets yesterday onto the site but nevertheless they lost.
Had an Over 1.5 Match Goals Acca that got nowhere and small bet of Over 2.5 Match Goals/BTTS for both the Champions League games which got nowhere either, managed to get some money back with a small stake on Under 9.5 penalties between Hamilton and Dunfermline to help keep losses down slightly.

I’m sure most have their attention firmly turned towards the Allianz tonight for the 365 offer. It’s another one of those situations where many are beginning to question why Arsenal are being so underestimated by pundits and bookies alike. I’d agree that Bayern are not the force they once were, but Arsenal’s away performances to the top sides (Chelsea, City) domestically have left a lot to be desired. It’s one of those where if Arsenal get a hiding, we’ll all be wondering why we ever expected otherwise. Still, I don’t think many predicted PSG to batter Barca last night and Arsenal certainly have the players to cause some problems if they decide to turn up.
In other words, I’ve got no clue where my in-play bet is going.
What I do know is that I’ll be having some pennies on the other tie in Madrid. Real are as leaky as ever this season and welcome a very good attacking side in Napoli. That alone suggests goals to me. Napoli welcome back Callejon from a recent suspension while Milik finally returns to the squad after a long layoff. Mertens is in the form of his life and their speed from front to back may well cause Real problems. Of course, we all know what Ronaldo et al are capable of – so I think the following price is more than fair:

I’ve also noticed that @handyman22 has pointed out the ‘anytime assist’ market being offered by Paddy Power. Main bet wins easily. Unfortunately, Muller didn’t even start against Arsenal (something I, admittedly, took for granted). He still managed to score though in the little time he appeared, so my suggestion of him to score anytime still would’ve won (19/10 at Stan James). Sadly, no assist from him, so the small stakes punt was a loser. The assist market might be one to keep an eye on though if Paddy Power carry it on!
