I JUST missed out on a second successive Super Single with Stoke being held by Swansea.
I tipped Spurs to beat Newcastle but aways have scarred me recently so I took the home at Brittannia ahead of Tim Sherwood's side.
Lionel Messi could have been another pick and I predicted he'd hit the opener for Barcelona at Real Sociedad but on the Top Treble it was Twente who let me down by drawing at Groningen.
Thursday's a quiet night and I'm not complaining after a busy week. There are matches between Lyon-Lens in the French League Cup, Rio Ave v Braga in the Portuguese League Cup and Chester v Halifax in the Conference Premier so no treble.
However, I am recommending a Super Single but it should only be considered after the Lyon team is revealed and it's as strong as expected.
Lyon have transformed their season after a poor start and have lost just one in 15 games. They're already qualified for the League Cup Final and will want to maintain the momentum in tonight's French Cup last-16 clash against Ligue 2 promotion chasers Lens who have failed to score in their last two outings.
Confidence is high in the Lyon camp and while they are just 2-5 at Ladbrokes I can see them covering the -1 handicap IF they make minimum changes.
This is Lyon's strongest available line-up: Lopes, Zeffane, Kone, Umtiti, Bedimo, Gonalons, Fofana, Grenier, Gourcuff, Lacazette, Gomis.
If the starting side is close to that – and I'd particularly like to see star forwards Lacazette and Gomis in there – back Lyon -1 at 5-4 with Ladbrokes or alternatively to win HT/FT as they did in beating Troyes 2-1 in the last round.
Chester v Halifax looks a tough call and the weather could play a part. Halifax have won just once away so may have to settle for a point against the home strugglers.
The Portuguese League Cup semi-final between Rio Ave and Braga promises to be a tense affair with not many goals. Rio are tough to beat having gone seven home games without defeat but this season have netted just seven times at home in 10 outings.
Braga are just as poor in front of goal on their travels with two goals in five games. The last five meetings at Rio Ave have gone under 2.5 goals and four of them have finished all square.
Another draw is possible but more likely is under 2.5 goals at 8-15 with Betfred. A 0-0 half-time draw pays 29-20 at Coral.

Long term, the super single is not profitable either. the stats are there in black and white for anyone who looks. It’s sad that this will be deleted as i think it’s very irresponsible by regulars and those who run this site to try and cover up this fact. Gamblers need guidance to gamble responsibly, not false hope.
I am not in any way knocking this site, as it is a very useful resource and people can learn a lot here but it would be nice if they could accept a bit of constructive criticism now and then. Nobody wants to see people lose their money and gamblers can be very vulnerable to the promise of winnings.
Dunc, personally I don’t do the SS and would rather do a challenge bet as it is more fun and less stressful but what I do know is Mr F was very successful last year. Unfortunately, not quite going for him but if there was no site we wouldn’t be having these discussions and picking up the other tips that people have helped others on.
I’d also like to note that Mr F (correct me if I’m wrong) as one twice in the past few months on a draws bet which came in at around 38/1.

100% agree with you horsing around, if you look at any newspaper that put tips up for football, racing or any other sport nobody gets it right all the time. The tips posted by a variety of people have given insight to leagues many of us had never heard of or considered betting on (dutch jupiter for example. There is no where on this site does it say follow these tips and you will make money and far too many people put too much pressure on the super single to make them money, please have a look at the super single if you like it bet it if you dont then dont but do your own research and pick your own tips, constant moaning isnt going to do antything other than piss the guys off who spend a lot of time and effort into giving their insights. The amount of abuse johnb was getting yesterday because it had been a lean few days was a joke, if I was him I would have said f**k this am not giving you my tips anymore. the majority of people understand the way this site works but please love it or leave it as lets face it without the help of some tipsters on here there is a lot of people who couldnt tip a wheel barrow who of course will be the ones moaning

cheers Leo I am going to put up couple of trwixies based on weekends games, yesterdays was 400/1 for all 3 so if i get one up a season it will put me in profit, not easy but there are definite trends from refs that will influence my selections for example phil dowd gives more cards than any other ref last night he gave 7, others like Lee Probet have averaged 1 card in 14 games so any game he does will be under, corners little more difficult to predict and too do a treble makes it even harder but will be bit of interest and bit of fun as I got sod all to do at work this week

I’m going double Dutch tonight on Michael Van Gerwen & Raymond Van Barneveld. The sponsors Betway go 13/10 on both Dutchmen to win and this looks a good bet to me.
MVG was imperious against Taylor handing him his first whitewash on tv. Regular followers of darts know I am a MVG guy, but I think his performance was overlooked by talk of Taylor’s performance. Taylor averaged a shade under 100, he would have probably beaten most players on the tour with that average. (Taylor at the weekend hit two 9 darters) He ran into a guy who is flying at the moment.
MVG is the world no 1, he is the world champion and he is the defending premier league champion. He averaged a shade under 110 and hit 7 out of 9 on his doubles last week. Taylor or anyone in their prime couldn’t beat MVG on those stats. Robert Thornton missed too many doubles last week he only hit 29% of his doubles. MVG won 8 of their 14 meetings with one draw, and I cant see past another MVG victory.
RVB averaged over 108 and checked out at 70% he returns to Bournemouth were he became the first player to hit a nine darter in the premier league. Some players like certain venues and Barney loves Bournemouth. Newton I think is going to struggle in the league, he was beaten 6-1 at the weekend by MVG, and lost 7-3 in the league opener against debutant Peter Wright. I cant see beyond a Dutch double tonight.

PERSITA TANGERANG V AREMA CRONOUS – 8.30am
3 games gone in the league, 7th v 2nd.
Arema have knocked in 11 goals in their 3 games, winning all 3. Persita have 3 points from 3 games, and have conceded twice in all 3 games.
Fancy another Arema win here and would be surprised if they go under 1.5 goals but frustratingly I can’t find a team goals market for it. So, need to find another way to make money.
What I think is noteworthy is in all of Arema’s wins, they’ve been ahead at half time – indeed every HT score so far has been 2-0. In 2 of Persita’s 3 games so far, they were behind at HT.
Accordingly, I think Arema HT/FT at 13/10 with bet365 is very appealing indeed.
Can also get over 3.5 match goals at 31/20 with youwin. I’ll be putting a bit on both of the above.

I think after quite a successful night last night, I should refrain from betting during work as this is when I lose my money as I haven’t got the time for in-depth research on games and working around my boss not being able to see my PC monitor…haha.

i started a new idea yesterday looking at corners, cards, referees and the stats that each team had compiled and the cards each ref had shown during the season. Yesterdays tip was Liverpool win, 10-12 corners and 4-6 cards due to fact that Phil dowd dishes out more cards on average than any other ref, liverpool and fulham average 1.36 cards and 1.34 cards per match respectively, liverpool average 6.6 corners, fulham 4.6 and the odds given by william hill were 8/1………It all was going so well until stevie gerrard took off his shirt in the last min after scoring hence picking up a booking which proved to be the 7th booking of the game. there were 12 corners and liverpool won it was just steve Gerrard wanting take his shirt off that ruined the bet. The other 2 tips i put up were rained off but ill have a look at weekend matches when the referees for each game have been declared

Paul t, if you’re talking about Sturridge to score in first 20 minutes they will attempt to take it back if they notice the mistake. You’ll have to accept this – at the end of the day you shouldn’t have been paid out – or take the winnings, close your account and change your bank details if you’re determined to keep the money. Alternatively they might not notice.

Cup games not advisable as we saw last night. First team players don’t always play, Damos way is quicker but riskier as the odds are better and you have to have a very good knowledge of the game yo be confident of your selection. Research is the best advice I can offer. Research each fixture for that day until you find a stat that looks solid ie Hyde no clean sheet. Hope this helps mate with your own challenge or bank builder. Mr Alves is brilliant at turning loose change into £50 and £100

First team players don’t always play, Damos way is quicker but riskier as the odds are better and you have to have a very good knowledge of the game yo be confident of your selection. Research is the best advice I can offer. Research each fixture for that day until you find a stat that looks solid ie Hyde no clean sheet. tough match to call tonight, both teams will be in the mix up of the top 4 come end of season. Last week I posted that Huddersfield +6 was a massive price and gave my reasons. Tonight I am taking St Helens with the 6 pt start with not as much confidence but here’s why i believe saints will cover the bet
1) Warrington lost number big players, Morley, Hodgson, Carvell and more important Briers
2) kicking game. Wigan showed last week how they struggled without Pat Richards as a kicker and Warrington will find the same without Briers. He was instrumental in making them tick last year and without him they will struggle to turn saints around. Meanwhile Saints have brought in Luke Walsh from Penrith who is a renound place kicker and will help Saints going forward.
3) I am not a huge fan of head to head stats over the years as teams/managers change frequently but the fact remains that St Helens have won 5 of their last 6 visits to Warrington. Historically this extends to 16 of last 18 matches at Warrington so clearly they not affected by away team syndrome.
Final Thoughts- Warrington will be up there this season and new signing Ray Asotasi will be great addition but they will need bit of time to settle so I am taking the points here

scott the cat, the average cards/corners per match seems to be how they base the prices ie 10 corners are the average per game and 3 cards per game so its trying to find the teams and matches that will break the mould, i reckon last season man utd would rarely get a card where as this season they have the 3rd worst disciplinary in terms of cards picked up (stoke is the worst) I feel that the style of refs will have big influence hence the cards flashed by Dowd last night, there is only 1 ref with a higher average this season. Its an experiment as trebles market in tough but 1 trixie a season will be enough to show profit if have 1 bet a weekend. will see how it goes, post my picks and see if can find a trend. The trick will also be to judge the variation on a month by month basis as maybe Dowd will mellow, maybe Probert will decide to toughen up, maybe Wilf Zaha at Cardiff will improve their corner stats…..

Although this is only a friendly game, its the last friendly for Plzen and their coach has announced that he will field the best possible line up. The team have showed really nice football during there preparation period recording 5 wins and 1 draw.
Meanwhile Rostov won’t have much time to rest as they played in a goal fest only yesterday against Ural winning 5/4 showing really poor defensively.

My two cents though. I agree that Froch will approach the fight differently this time. Groves pretty much won the entire country’s respect with that performance and I think Froch got badly surprised when the bell went.

mr fix it some of my posts seem to have huge delay n posting? i was at a gaa game today. ucd vs dcu. the wind was awful the stronger team dcu were losing by 11 points at half time i tipped them plus 6 at half time at evens and it came in easy. wish some others could have seen as i got great tips off of ppl before would have liked to share mine. i staked 80% of my bankroll something i have never done before as i was certain of it coming in with the huge wind advantage dcu had the second half. easiest money i ever made

Evening Guys I’ve already posted my best bet on the darts tonight, and it is a MVG & RVB double at 13/10. The remaining matches are close to call, wouldn’t be surprised to see at least a draw.
Chisnall v Wright, the two new boys clash in week 2 after both winning on their debuts. Having tipped Chisnall to be relegated I hoping for a Wright win. I’m on 05.5 match 180s 5/6 Skybet.
Anderson v Whitlock, Last week Anderson ran into a Barney barrage as RVB rolled back the years. Anderson averaged 100 in that game and only won two legs. Whitlock was under the weather against Lewis but I don’t think that would have mattered. Anderson wins if he hits his doubles but I will take him to hit O3.5 total 180s if Anderson flows he could double the line. It’s 6/4 at Bet365.
As always I will be on a 170 checkout on the night 7/2 and a 9 darter 7/1 odds by sponsors Betway. These bets give you a bet for the whole night. Last week MVG several times was leaving himself the top shot. In the Super league it is a big game for round 1 between Warrington and ST Helens, with it being a new season it is hard to predict who going to win especially between these two sides who will be there or there abouts when the medals are handed out. I will just be picking two try scorers one from each side, who I put up most of last season.
For Warrington it always has to be Joel Monaghan, he is a tryscoring machine and who ever scores more than him this season will probably top the charts. He is 5/6 at Paddy Power & Stan James and believe me he will be a lot shorter as the season progresses.
For Saints, I like their two young wingers, and I will be going with Tommy Makinson. He has already scored 38 tries in just 72 games. He is 7/4 Ladbrokes & Skybet.
