THE Australian Open has been brilliant to watch the past fortnight and this morning it serves up a fitting final with great Scots hope Andy Murray looking to win the tournament for the first time.
Murray has got this far three times before and on two of those occasions been denied by the man he faces today, Novak Djokovic. The world No.1 is 20-43 at Sportingbet to land his fifth Aussie Open crown while Murray is 21-10 at bwin.
Djokovic leads 15-8 on the head-to-head stats but wasn’t at his imperious best in his five-set semi-final win over Stan Wawrinka, whereas Murray put on a masterclass to beat Tomas Berdych. Over 3.5 sets in the Final pays 10-21 at 888sport and for a five-setter it’s 14-5 at Boylesports.
Murray last beat Djokovic in the 2013 Wimbledon final – without dropping a set – and if you fancy the British No.1 to edge an epic 3-2 it’s 7-1 at Titanbet and StanJames go 13-2 for the Scot to triumph 3-1. A 3-1 Djokovic victory is 16-5 at SportingBet, who price up the Serb at 11-2 to win in five.
It’s also Superbowl Sunday today with Seattle Seahawks going for back-to-back titles when they tackle New England Patriots in the NFL showpiece in Phoenix.
Elsewhere there’s final-round action from the Dubai Desert Classic and Phoenix Open golf plus the likes of darts, rugby and a couple of NBA matches.
