I’VE cast my net far and wide over the English leagues in a bid to find a winner.

So let’s start in the Premier League with West Brom v Sunderland.

It’s well documented that the Baggies have won just two out of 12 at home, scoring just nine goals. However, their last three home games have ended in 2-1 defeats so they are scoring and getting closer to the opposition.

Sunderland have failed to score just once since Martin O’Neill’s arrival and they have comeback striker Frazier Campbell and Ireland’s James McClean who will both be buoyed by their international call-ups. I reckon Sunderland can win but it could be 2-1.

Next head for the Championship and Doncaster v Peterborough. Last weekend Donny were the only away side to score but still lost 3-2 as Leeds made a stirring comeback.

There have been 12 goals in their last four games and with the likes of El Hadji Diouf on the pitch anything can happen. Peterborough’s last five have produced 14 goals so not as prolific as they were but still a decent return.

They battered Bristol City 3-0 last week and should score at least once at Doncaster.

Now it’s down to League One for Bury v Orient. Five of Bury’s last six have seen both score including two 3-2s. Visitors Orient have only failed to net once in seven and that was at home to Colchester.

Stay in League one and add Scunthorpe v Brentford. Scunny failed to score for the first time in seven against Walsall in midweek but should get back on track against Brentford in what should be an open game.

Brentford have netted 12 in their last four games but also conceded seven so this one should produce.

I was going to complete the line with Shrewsbury v Crawley but it’s a Monday game so if you don’t want to wait two days the make it Preston v Walsall.

By all accounts Preston played well in a 2-1 defeat at Sheffield Utd last week and are ready to make a move under Graham Westley after bringing in a few new players.

However it could be tough to keep a clean sheet against a Walsall side who won at Scunthorpe in midweek and have notched on their last three trips.

Both teams to score

West Brom v Sunderland

Bristol City v Peterborough

Bury v Orient

Scunthorpe v Brentford.

Preston v Walsall
