I HOPE everyone had a Happy Christmas and let's hope for some Boxing Day winners.

My Boxing Day tips were posted on Saturday and I've decided not to add any more.

There's a big English card to look out and I've posted a separate preview. While there are plenty of decent looking bets it has to remembered some strange things can happen at this time of year.

I said to play Christmas Eve for low stakes and that was the correct call. My Super Single won at 17-10 as Morton beat Queen of the South but the 4pts Top Treble was a loser thanks to Hibs.

My 11-1 Long Shot that would have virtually cleared the December losses was beaten by a late Stirling equaliser at Montrose while Cowdenbeath beat the both to score treble.

Greg like me was done in by Hibs and just a word for Damian Walker of McBookie who talked up the chances of 8-1 Queen's Park and 9-2 Brechin. And the third team he liked was Morton.

I'm starting Monday's tips with the Super Single and I'm on Reading at home to Norwich. The Canaries are slight favourites which is bizarre considering they have lost four in a row on the road and their only recent wins have been in front of their own fans.

Reading have won seven from nine and shouldn't be underdogs. OK, they're only slightly rated second favourites if they win it will be at good odds of 19-10 with Marathonbet.

For a Top Treble I wouldn't put anyone off Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United but you all know about that one so I've delved a bit deeper. Those three are featured on a bit of a long shot line with Peterborough and Aston Villa.

Take Huddersfield who have won three in a row at home to a Nottm Forest with just one point in nine. Add League One Fleetwood at home to a Bury side who have lost 12 in a row.

That run will end sometime soon but hopefully not on Monday as Town are unbeaten in eight and heading towards the play-offs under Uwe Rosler.

I'm completing the treble with Sheffield Utd at home to Oldham. The Blades are going for three wins in a row while the Latics haven't won in seven in the league, are rooted to the foot of the table and boss Stevie Robinson will have to rotate to get through the festive period.

Remember to check out WeLoveBetting for their tips and video chat.

Stagger, i love betting on Al Kuwait and Al Qadsia which i have mentioned on here before, both lightyears ahead of other teams in the league and consistently win well. I was only going to have a bet on the basketball today but i think i back my friends from Kuwait for a small christmas bonus.

    • stagger 7 years ago

Well done, fraser51. You weren’t kidding about Al Kuwait, hammering 9 past Burgan, and Qadsia winning too. Hope you were on your double there.
Unfortunately my 5fold went down early doors in the u21 games!

  10. HullShaker 7 years ago

    Evening gents,

No bet day for me tomorrow – like everyone else, I will be too busy attempting to consume my own body weight in food and drink!

Boxing Day looks a belter though and will put up thoughts now starting off with my beloved Bury:

We have now obliterated our ‘worst run in history ever’ (now 12 straight losses) and there’s no sign of it getting better as we take on a side who have scored in every league game so far…

    FLEETWOOD VS. BURY:

Fleetwood’s emergent home form is enough to make even the most hardened Bury fan spend Christmas Day sat in the corner sucking their thumb and rocking.

The Trawlermen have played 7 home games since mid-October and have bagged a maximium 21 points with straight wins.

Even worse (if you are a Shaker/even better if Cod Army) Fleetwood have scored: 3-2-3-2-4-2-2 team goals across those 7 games. This against opposition whose defensive set-ups look like the Italian national side circa 1982 in comparison to Bury’s Last of the Summer Wine X1 circa 1989.

    FLEETWOOD OVER 1.5 TGS…4/6
    ?????

    FLEETWOOD OVER 2.5 TGS…9/4
    ???

    FLEETWOOD OVER 3.5 TGS…6/1
    ?

There’s every chance we will score and maybe even grab a brace but I’d sooner include that risk in match goals rather than Bury team goals

    OVER 4.5 MGS…4/1
    ??

    ****************************

THE NEW SAINTS VS. CEFN DRUIDS (14.30 KO):

Top side Saints take on second-bottom Druids here and to offer a sense of perspective, after 19 games the 2 teams have a goal differential of 68!

Despite their awesome (but relative given the competition) record, TNS haven’t been ripping teams limb from limb for a while but I’ve a feeling they might just rectify that against a Druids side that they have knocked 3, 4 and 6 past in the most recent meetings.

    TNS OVER 3.5 TGS…11/10
    ????

    TNS OVER 4.5 TGS…12/5
    ??

    ****************************

    National League North Double:

I’m taking on two matches that involves 4 of the top 5 sides in the NLN and those that follow my ramblings won’t be surprised to see who features:

    DARLINGTON VS. HALIFAX
    AFC FYLDE VS. CHORLEY

The question here is what to go for; Over 2.5 MGS would be my usual modus operandi and BTTS appeals to.

Either would be great shouts but despite both Darlo and Flyde’s impressive standing and home advantage, I’m willing to risk something that offers a little more value for some calculated risk.

Five of the last six Fylde/Chorley games have seen Btts&overs as have the same number of Fylde’s most recent five games. Same applies to Darlo who just can’t keep their legs shut at the minute.

    BTTS & OVER DOUBLE…2.57/1
    ???

    ****************************

Longshot (or possibly ‘Longshit’ after the day’s excesses take their toll):

    FLEETWOOD
    TNS
    FYLDE
    DARLO

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS QUAD…15.91/1
    ?

    ****************************

We also have the Mexican finale in the early hours after Boxing Day and although I’ll try and string a few thoughts (words!) together, you have to fancy 2-1 aggregrate leaders Tigres to seal the deal at home.

All the best to everyone and hope tomorrow brings a chance to spend time with the ones you love…life only comes round once ?

    Rizespor v Osmanlıspor FT: 2
    Kayserispor v Karabükspor FT: X
Akhisar v Konyaspor FT: X2 dc
    Antalyaspor v Kasımpaşa BTTS

    Good luck and merry Xmas

Rizespor manager looks for points today, pressure on him by the fans.. On the other hand Osmanlispor works like a dynamo and their quality is enough to get 3 points if the foreign players are not waiting for Santa.

Kayserispor has no manager since last one were fired few weeks ago , young team coach will manage the game today. Karabukspor are play good ball but unlucky when it comes to win. Maybe one more time draw.

Akhisar’s form sucks atm , only plus for them is; they know how to get benefit from their potato farm pitch.. Konya still capable to get a point.

Antalya likes to play attacking football, offensive line is good enough to score against Kasimpasa at home , and Kasimpasa’s quick moves can go from defending to scoring a goal.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

    Chelsea v B’mouth u2.5 23/20
Going against Mr F here as I think Chelsea will miss Costa big time. They have also won 1-0 in their last 3 matches so although winning are not exactly free scoring. They are also very solid at the back conceding just 2 goals in the last 6 matches and I can’t see b’mouth breaking them down.

    Leicester to beat Everton 29/20
I think Leicester look value to beat an Everton side on a poor run and will be still hurting from their defeat in the Merseyside derby

My NAP is Wycombe at 11/5 to win at Plymouth.
They are on a great run winning their last 6 matches conceding just 1 goal in the process and hopefully can continue that run at Plymouth who needed pen’s to beat Newport in the cup so will also be fresher than their opposition.

    GL with your bets

  28. nathanufton 7 years ago

Fleetwood, Chelsea, Villa all to win to nil + Forest BTTS, i’ll be dropping a £10 on that 4 way.

  29. warktheline 7 years ago

    Merry Christmas one and all!

    1.00:
    BRENTFORD v CARDIFF
    over 2.5 mgs 9/10.
    BTTS 8/11.
Cardiff goal before 62 mins. 5/6.
    Cardiff over 1.5 TGS. 7/4.

Summary: Both teams score and concede on a regular basis. There’s no reason to suggest this game will be any different. Cardiff under Warnock have scored in all their away games to date, Forest, Villa, Newcastle and Ipswich, scoring first half goals in 3 out of the 4. As for Brentford, after an impressive start to season things have tapered off, but more recently have returned to finding the net, a good sign considering Cardiff can’t stop conceding! Brentford have conceded 7 in last 4 home games, thus there’s a fair chance Cardiff goals may come in!

    12.30.
    NORTH FERRIBY v YORK
NORTH FERRIBY not to lose 17/20.
    NORTH FERRIBY DNB 7/4.
NORTH FERRIBY goal before 67 mins 5/6.
    THOMPSON to score anytime 5/2.

Summary: Mills still awaits his first win, spanning 10 games to date, since his arrival at York! This game is a must ‘not lose’ for the Minstermen , not ideal considering their awful track record on the road! They come up against a team who without doubt have struggled since promotion, but recently have returned some positive results, losing only 2 of last 7! Thompson, ex YORK player, has been popping in a goal or two of late, and with FERRIBY scoring their last 3 home goals before 46 minutes, bets above have every chance of producing profit!

    Merry Christmas everyone.

Anyone here think there’s a chance in the Tigres/Club America match and also the 2 early doors aussie matches.

Any info to dissuade me on any of those matches would be greatly appreciated.

Managed to start the drinking festivities at 9.20pm and have to say even though it was good to get out, the whole evening was quite an anti-climax. Barely anybody out, half the bars shut and most of the rest shutting around 11pm. Think I saw 2 or 3 cuties all night. Still managed to find alcohol till around 2am and woke up at 5pm. xmas nearly over.

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Not sure what you were fancying in the Mexican game to put you off it but put up a brief post just now…good luck pal.

A we longshot to help me sleep better tonight, the mexican game along with the two aussie games, btts & overs treble pays just over 10/1

  33. HullShaker 7 years ago

    Evening gentlemen,

Looking like a cracking domestic card tomorrow – selections are up and I’ve tickets for Man City’s visit to the KC Stadium so ought to be a good day!

Before that, there’s the small matter of a Mexican title to decide and it should be worth staying up for…

TIGRES VS. CLUB AMERICA (00.30 KO:)

Tigres made it count in the first leg and lead 2-1 – I put a fairly detailed write-up the other for the initial match and it bore true…Tigres simply had/have the edge when it comes to key players and strength of their starting X1.

As a direct result of that 1st leg scoreline, I can see this final game being approached differently from America who have to score…this is going to lead to a more open game in which we ought to see much more threat on goal and potentially Tigres exploiting CA on the counter.

They’ve certainly got the personnel to do it and my successful 1st leg ATGS pick, Gignac, has every chance of netting again…no scorer markets though?

    Two selections to consider:

    TIGRES OVER 1.5 TGS…11/10
    ????

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…8/5
    ???

    GIGNAC ATGS…no price as yet!

    Best of luck ?

    • nathanufton 7 years ago

Appreciate it. thought the game in Mexico ended up 1-1. Was looking for goals – just 1.
Pre-kickoff it was 1/12, so I waited for my mandatory 15 mins or so and hoped I’d find maybe a 1/8, but I held out for a 1/7. I have also took a really early doors price on the 2 aussie games, not great prices but they are pre-match prices, a 1/20 and a 1/25.
If it delivers its a 24% boost.

Fingers crossed, by the time I sleep, the Tigres game will of already delivered and the aussie games can be my sleepers.

I noticed bet365 were offering nothing on the cards market. Shame, there was flurry of cards in that match, you’d of thought the ref was dishing out late Christmas cards.

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Good luck Nathan – sorry, my mistake…it was 1-1 not 2-1…levels of turkey in bloodstream clearly affecting brain ?

  34. HullShaker 7 years ago

Mexican picks were losers and with hindsight, corners would have been the market to play with 15 so far.

    3.00:
    BARROW v Gateshead EVENS.
    HARRISON to score anytime 5/6.

Summary: Barrow’s form has been tremendous and on home soil they’ve been on some roll! Anyhow their opponents today Gateshead, are nothing if not erratic, currently struggling for form losing last 2 away games at Woking and North Ferriby, conceding 4 in the process, without replying. Harrison has already scored a bag full of goals, thus it won’t be any surprise if he ripples the net again for top boss Cox!

  43. maccathered 7 years ago

A word of caution for anyone backing chelsea today keep stakes low as hazard and costa are out and conte has hinted at a change of formation, chelsea’s winning streak will come to an end sooner or later and hopefully today will be the day, bournemouth more than capable of scoring today and it will be interesting to see how chelsea fair without their main men.You have been warned!!!

Morning gents. Merry Christmas all. Time and oxygen is limited this morning as you can imagine so just putting up todays pick. Two teams in not so good form but still able to score goals on their day. Both have conceded 12 goals in their last five with one clean sheet between the pair of them.

    Bristol Rovers/Coventry Over 2.5 Goals @ 4/5 @ Stan James – 5 points

  48. leroy 7 years ago

Here are the selections I placed on Friday. Unfortunately I imagine some of the prices have since dropped. I’ve put a little indicator of the types of stakes I placed due to the fact that I’ve got quite a few selections, including some from similar markets. I included a little write-up about Fleetwood, Burnley and Reading on Friday’s post, so I won’t repeat those. I think the rest of the bets speak for themselves, both statistically and in terms of favouritism.

    Man United
    Club Brugge

    O1.5 Team Goals Double @ 4/6 (Various) [3 points]

    Add: Bala Town

    O1.5 Team Goals Treble @ 5/4 (Bet365) [1 point]
    _____________________________________________

    Fleetwood vs Bury

    Fleetwood Win & O1.5 Match Goals @ 21/20 (Betstars) [2 points]
    _____________________________________________

    Burnley
    Reading

O0.5 Team Goals Double @ Evens (Boyles) [2 points]
    ______________________________________________

    Fleetwood
    Dover

    O1.5 Team Goals Double @ 6/4 (Various) [1 point]

    Add: Boston United

    Treble @ 7/2 (Bet365) [1 point]
    ________________________________________________

And of course we’ll have a 0.5pt Boxing Day 8-fold roll-up of all picks (excluding the Fleetwood single) paying 18/1 (Bet365). I hope all you lads and lasses had a cracking Christmas. Good luck today with your punts – I love me some Boxing Day footy no matter the outcome! :)

    *************************

    Aston Villa v Burton Albion

It’s not often the bookies get it it wrong but for me Villa are tad generous given their upturn in fortunes since Steve Brice Arrived in October! They have won 4 on the spin at home and play a Bustom side who haven’t won any of their 11 Matches away from home! Should be another tight affair but I taking Villa to edge this and move closer to the playoffs

Back Aston Villa to win 8/11 (Skybet)

    ***********************

On paper there are lots of decent looking matches for goals: hoping I’ve picked the right opens

    Fleetwood v Bury
    Peterborough v Gillingham

A real mixed bag. Absolutely gutted with the result at Fleetwood as its the game I had my eye on for a long while. Had that gone to form it could’ve been a good’un. Should’ve had the same confidence with Bala who smashed Rhyl 6-1. However, with the stakes I put up the day ends with a 0.74pt profit. Better than nothing. ;)

    Well done all winners. :)

Yesterday the rails came off my bank builder @ £450 with a goaless Tigres game. I can look on the bright side though since I did manage to bank £100 en-route and I’ve had some fun.

I also logged on earlier tonight to see 2 of the components that I was most confident in fail me on a £13000 – 12 way acca. Bury and ferriby double result. Gutted.

I’ve already started on my next £10 and I’m up to just a tad over £16. I will be going straight for the throat with 4x Derby/Chelsea doubles. – if it fails, its not a big financial risk to me. It will be a combination of 4x £4 doubles. Derby/Chelsea win, Derby win to nil/ Chelsea win to nil, Derby win to nil/Chelsea win and Derby win/Chelsea win to nil.

    I’ll put prices up tomorrow.
