MY non-league bets didn't quite go to plan but it was good to see so many winners posted on the site.

I said mine were “tentative” tips based on form and stats and without a good knowledge of the league so hopefully you didn't follow.

The Top Treble was beaten by York losing and the goals treble was a couple short.

I face the same dilemma on Tuesday – to bet or not to bet. We're faces with the new EFL Trophy set-up with 16 academy teams joining League One and League Two sides in groups of four.

This a minefield packed with explosives and I've no idea how the Under-23 sides will fare against league outfits – it will be men against boys I suppose and goals will be the only way to go.

There is the added problem of many league teams fielding weakened sides ahead of weekend league games it's as tough it gets from a tipping viewpoint.

In Ireland there are a couple of league games but having studied the games I've decided not to post tips today – line-ups and a knowledge of academy teams is vital and I don't have the latter.

Good luck though if you decide to give it a go today.

The Checkatrade Trophy lol Still I suppose if they’re paying money they’re entitled to have it named after them. Can’t help but laugh, though. There’ve been some crackers over the years – Rumbelows Cup, Milk Cup, Auto Windscreens Shield, hope I’m not breaking any site advertising rulings but I find it amusing.

Cork should see off Bray but are short at 1/3 so might be worth doubling it up with Shamrock v Derry BTTS NO (both have NOT potted in last 5/6 head-to-heads) Definitely steering clear of this checkatrade trap.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

No not all – we’ve had some crackers too. Older punters will remember the Fine Fare Premier League and of course the B&Q Cup. I remember when Ramsdens were revealed as Challenge Cup sponsors everyone thought it was Harry Ramsdens chippy but they turned out to be pawnbrokers.

Don’t forget the Worthington Cup Stagger…actually do forget it – it was crap!

Rumbelows Cup had the class 100m sprint challenge though don’t forget – that was brilliant.

Anyway, I’ve steered clear of any bets on The Mighty Shakers so far and although I didn’t hold out too much hope this season, it has been a surprisingly good start…3-0 down at Walsall on Saturday and pegged it back to 3-3 for another point.

James Vaughan scored on his debut and he’s a good signing to replace Leon Clarke after his exit and has plenty of class at this level.

Obviously need to check team news tomorrow and will post if have the chance but I see tomorrow’s game against Morecambe having a few goals – Morecambe are a massive 4/1 for the win but I’m not sure how much their extra midweek game against Bournmouth last week may impact the squad.

The Shrimpers hold the hoodoo over us as well, they’ve lost only once in the last 7 games stretching back over 3 seasons having also scored in all but 1 game.

I think we’ll score and Vaughan is 6/5 if he starts but I just think Morecambe have too much to ignore.

Preference is for BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS at 5/4 and a cheeky go at Over 3.5 MGS at 2/1 but will await any news tomorrow ?

Hi Mr F. I’ve been a member for a few months now and have made a healthy profit so thank you.

Is there anywhere I can see all your monthly points profits and losses and annual points profits and losses since the beginning of the site? And the same with Jordan, JohnB, Greg etc? All in one place?

    Thank you.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

No I don’t have those figures – but everyone posts their monthly totals regularly so you can go back as far as you like.
Do you know what’s more important though – the next bet and trying to make that a winner.

Skol cup as well Mr. Fix it. Remember that ? Winning team got 2 trophies for winning that.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Yeah I remember that. Funnily enough there is an Old Match of the Day feature in the Sunday Mail and last week the guy going through the files had picked out a Skol Cup game. On the same day Clydebank beat Raith 7-2 and the match report had four paragraphs – one fewer than the Celtic game. Those were the days.

  9. liamw 8 years ago

    Morning folks,

Judging by the number of pre match makets it looks like 365 will have ‘goal before’ markets in the EFL Trophy – this seems to be the way to go for me if so. 5 matches, goal before 10, 20, 30, 40. Be interested to see if @gregbrowning thinks it worth a shot. Small stakes obviously, but thats the beauty of Greg’s system – you don’t need a big stake for the chance of a big win.

    • dc john boy 8 years ago

I have saw greg use this a few times but never quite understood how it works. Idiots guide would be useful please @liamw

    • liamw 8 years ago

@dc-john-boy I copied the below from an explanation Greg gave a while back – basically as I understand it you are getting great value with these in play lines, and these markets aren’t common – or even available any where else – so perhaps the odds are more difficult for the bookies. Usually done with 4 or 5 games, have to be kicking off at the same time. Here’s what Greg wrote on some Austrian/French games a while back:

Here’s a guide for the 4 Austrain matches

Goal in the first 10 mins ( prices will be around 4/1 for each game)

      50p accumulator
      50p trebles

      £2.50 stake

      Goal before 20 mins =
      £3 accumulator

      Goal before 40 mins =
      £14.50 accumulator

      Total stake £20

You can also do 30 mins betting too.Try and make sure your 40 min stake covers the others bets if they others lose! It really is a fanatic way to win some big amounts for relatively small stakes. It’s up to you how many intervals you do, the 10 min market to give you an idea would pay 625/1

The French games you can do all 8 a goal before 40 mins Or pick 5 and do 10 mins 20 mins 30 mins 40 mins. It may seem like a lot of bets but you literally staking just £10 in total for 10 20 and 30 min.

    • dc john boy 8 years ago

Cheers liamw, tricky part now is picking the correct 5 games

It will be interesting to see the results tonight and how well the u23 teams get on against the first teams. You’ve got to think that even the first teams will be rotated and may prevent an opportunity for the well respected academies to get some decent results at decent prices. Teams I am looking at:
    West Ham U23’s @ Coventry 4/1
    Everton U23’s @ Bolton 14/5
    Southampton U23’s @ Charlton 4/1

Teams news will be crucial and I believe each U23 squad can have up to 3 over age players. I know Wolves have included Nouha Dicko in their squad at Chesterfield (coming back from injury)

just dont get this cup tonight at all. im feeling its setup to try get youth playing against experience but sides like peterboro who will be aiming for promotion most likely wont want to take risks and put a weakened or youth side out. which renders it pointless.

    A punt from me today.

Tårnby FF vs FC Nord Sjælland

Tårnby are playing 4 divisions below the super liga.
But have started their season in high spirits 2 wins and draw. Their player manager is Ex nord Sjælland all time top scorer, so knows a bit about the club, he will be facing.
Nord Sjælland look Bert uninspired so far this season.

And the +4 A/handicap looks a good bet. @1.900 in favour of the home team.

They will give it a good go and with nord sjælland’s depleted squad (a lot of players on U23 Duty) I am expecting a tough game for them.

Also a couple £ on Tårnby DC. ?

    GL om å Skinny card.

    • philwindy 8 years ago

Well Tårnby lost 4-1, which brought in the +4 handicap. Happy with that @1.900 on an otherwise crap night of games.

over 2.5 goals in all 5 Scottish U20 games tonight pays just under 7/1 @ bet365

  33. sam c 8 years ago

Really not a good card tonight but going to try an over 2.5 goals double.

    Leyton Orient v Stevenage
    Walsall v Grimsby

    Pays just over 2/1

Staying well away from games involving u23 teams and it is fairly hard to find anything I like the look of but both of these fixtures look like they could produce goals going on the teams league form.

  34. ediddem 8 years ago

Anyone with thoughts on vasco da gama vs villa nova match?

    • stagger 8 years ago

Well, Vasca, despite sitting pretty at the top and the league’s top scorers, have conceded more goals than six other teams beneath them. They’ve potted in all but one of their last 12 homes in all comps since May and conceded in 9 of those.
Vila Nova despite being 13th (of 20) are the league’s joint 4th top scorers (30 in 21 games) Their last 4 aways reads D-D-D-W which is actually the same, points-wise, as their last 4 homes.
Can’t see any player markets but if I was gonna have a punt I’d consider

VASCA win by exactly one goal 5/2
Result after 60 mins VASCA 1/1
A goal scored in both halves 7/10
VASCO WIN & BTTS 23/10 (2-1 correct score pays 7/1)

  37. richb20806 8 years ago

Not really betting much tonight to be honest as the card is crap…

But if info though re my beloved Wolves where the U23 team is away at Chesterfield. Outsiders massively to be fair and wouldn’t be betting on a win… Well maybe a couple of quid 11/10 double chance.

Nouha Dicko has over an hour last week for the u23s and is in the squad tonight.

I’ll be waiting on team news but I’d be inclined to back a BTTS or something of the same ilk…

    BTTS is 4/6
Chesterfield No Clean Sheet is 4/9
Wolves 2+ goals is 9/4 (v low stakes)

In the style of Greg how about Wolves goal before 66min at 5/6?

I can really see us scoring and having scored 7 in the last 3 including the last game beating the WBA u23 3-1 with Bright Enobakare grabbing a brace and Connor Ronan scoring from the spot…

up to you if you follow but I’ll be backing us to score a goal to be fair

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Good steer – as I’ve said for me goals are the only way to go tonight.

    • richb20806 8 years ago

My thought me exactly Mr F…. I wouldn’t want to look at results in the slightest….

Part of me thinks the u23s will want this as its a good way to shine whereas the “real” teams will be looking more at the league instead of distractions….

No definitely goals.. I’ll probably look at a BTTS treble and a goals double/treble but small stakes to be fair.

  38. dc john boy 8 years ago

Well our old player Ebanks Blake scored against us at 24 minutes…. We then get our own defender Ebanks Landell sent off 5 minutes later.

On the plus side we seem to have brightened up a bit since being down to 10 men.

Doesn’t help our cause for the goal before 66…..

Sorry to anyone who followed as its looking less likely

    • richb20806 8 years ago

And we score in 74th minute….. Gutted lol

  53. craneguy 8 years ago

Picking out a bit of variety for The Night Owl…

There’s four 23.15 KO’s in the Brasilian Serie B tonight and we should see a few goals in each – I’m taking all 4 on in two different formats.

The first 4-fold is the ‘safer’ option:

    AVAI
    JOINVILLE
    PARANA
    PAYSANDU games

    OVER 1.5 MGS…2.89/1

The second 4-fold obviously pitches risk against reward so lower stakes a must. I know there’s folk on here who love a ‘cashout’ bet and Serie B sees a lot of early goals so maybe one to consider:

    AVAI
    JOINVILLE
    PARANA
    PAYSANDU games

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…53/1

    Good luck ?

Looking ahead to the Old Firm game i like the look of Celtic win and over 1.5 goals in match 21/20 Stan James. That said Griffiths is injured with a hamstring that could sway my betting.

    • Alves 8 years ago

Griffiths will be ok for tge auld firm, as will KT

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

As Alves says Griffiths will be fit for Old Firm game.

Looking at the Checkatrade games, it makes the Europa League look like easy pickings. No thank you. Was gonna go NO to Sham/Derry but have changed my mind.

    Low Stakes Fancy Fourfold
Knockbreda Parish v Lurgen Celtic btts yes (6.30 N Ireland League Cup) ✔
    Falkirk U20 v Rangers U20 btts yes (7.00) ✔
    Cork City win (7.45) ✔
Shamrock v Derry btts yes (8.00)
    (9/2 Lads FOBT)

    – it failed. Arrrgghh the perils of changing one’s mind. For want of a Shamrock goal. Damn and blast.

    • snowster 8 years ago

Unlucky @stagger that same game did fore my 7 game mixed Irish coupon where I needed O2 goal line at shamrock. The only thing they got a kick of tonight was the opposition by the looks of things (7 yellows)

    • stagger 8 years ago

snowster, commiserations to you too mate. Yeah I was keeping an eye on the Shamrock cards and thought one of them might get sent off. With eleven on the park there was still hope but they still couldn’t pot. On we go, buddy.

  64. davros 8 years ago

On the 4 Brazilian games at 11:15, I’ll take a punt on the following:-
    Avai game BTTS
    Joinville game BTTS
    Paysandu to win
    Parana win + BTTS
All 4 pays 25/1 (tenner stake):-)

  65. Alves 8 years ago

    Avai v Luverdense

Over 5.0 HT asian corners 1.825
    Over 11.0 asian corners 2.00
    Over 14 corners 4/1 – 1/2 stake

  66. Alves 8 years ago

Had a 6fold over 2.5 gls but Bolton and Shrewsbury games bust it at 31/1 earlier tonight, plenty goals but difficult to judge teams playing u23 PL teams. Gillingham Bristol Rover Walsall and Orient were winners but early KO at Bolton downed it before it even started

  67. craneguy 8 years ago

evening craig, aye yer deffo rite both have been pulled for the game tae protect them a see strachans asked in Wallace noo as KT’s oot lot of folk sayin he should tell him tae bolt hope he doesnae as need oor best players in Scotland team tae try an qualify cannae see it but…………..

  68. Alves 8 years ago

Should be able to beat Malta easily enough either way but Wallace might want to sit it out tae to keep fresh for OF, suhin wrong if we canny beat Malta ?

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Malta don’t score many but don’t concede many. We’ll find them tough to break down and without Griffiths it might be a 1-0 Scotland job. Ollie Burke might start and let’s see if he can live up to his £15m billing.

  69. craneguy 8 years ago

we should do craig beat them last 4 h2hs but all in the distant yonder ………. an hinkin btts 11/10, btts & overs 13/8 donno but while away yet……..

  70. craneguy 8 years ago

heres hoping he can mr f but can see another glorious failure……. time will tell though
