    Timeform comments:

Ivawood (5 out of 5 stars): One of the top 2-y-os, winning Group 2s before near-miss in the Middle Park. Placed form at the very top level this year the best on offer, so the one to beat in this grade.
Race commentary: IVAWOOD hasn’t tasted success so far in 2015, but his placed efforts in the English and Irish Guineas read very well in the context of this race, so he is taken to make the most of a drop in class. Here Comes When has also competed in Group 1s this season, and is feared most.

Bocca Bociata (3 out of 5 stars): Useful filly. Latest win at Navan in April. 9/2, creditable 2 lengths third of 9 to Wedding Vow in Kilboy Estate Stakes at this C&D (good to soft) 42 days ago.
Race commentary: BROOCH has to give weight all round again, but her latest C&D second was a cracking effort so she gets the nod to regain the winning thread. Devonshire and Outstanding are two live threats and feared most.

    Ivanwood nr now

  28. Johnb 3 years ago

Lord Clegg yes if found guilty but most horses get pulled out because the horse hasn’t eaten up and if that’s the reason then a horse isn’t allowed to run

  29. Tweegyboo 3 years ago

Sumbal 3.10 Deau. Ran 5th behind new bay in French derby was hampered and ran on well. Ground fine won on heavy and upped in distance shouldn’t be an issue. Entered in irish champion stakes so this should be a nice race to get him fit. Currently around 3-1 NAP/NB

  30. leicesterlad 3 years ago

John b any horses you like at yarmouth mate

  31. Tweegyboo 3 years ago

Jb any comments on sumbal today?

  32. Johnb 3 years ago

In 2012 there were 9,000 non runners which was 10% of horses declared
In 2013 there was 8,300 non runners
    Not checked last year yet

This is all down to a trainer being able to pull a horse out without the advise of a vet

In recent years the strangest one to me was when Martin Harley broke a bone in the afternoon so a trainer at the evening meeting pulled his horse out saying there wasn’t a suitable jockey to ride his horse, which sounds strange

  33. Johnb 3 years ago

Leicesterlad best one at Yarmouth is Mezajy 7/2 in the 4:55

    Timeform comments:

Dakota City (5 out of 5 stars): Benefitted from application of visor when scoring at Lingfield (10f, AW) in July. Improved again in defeat when runner up at that venue 4 weeks ago, and claims again.
Race commentary: DAKOTA CITY has been much improved in a visor of late, collared late on having made an early move at Lingfield recently. He gets the chance to confirm his improvement back on turf, with the in-form English Summer and Bold Runner just two potential dangers.

Fingers crossed john! Owe us nothing again this month but a 8/1 would be nice to end the month!

All eyes on Pendleton at Ripon

Victoria Pendleton takes another step towards her quest to ride at the Cheltenham Festival when she rides at Ripon on Monday.

Despite being a total novice in the saddle, the dual gold medal-winning cyclist announced in March she was training to become a jockey, with a long-term aim of competing in the Foxhunter Chase at next year’s Cheltenham Festival.

After four months of intensive training and riding out five times a week for Oxfordshire-based trainer Lawney Hill,
Pendleton made her racecourse debut in a charity event at Newbury in early July, finishing down the field aboard Mighty Mambo.

Having recently been awarded her ‘Category A’ licence, she heads to North Yorkshire on Bank Holiday Monday to partner the Hill-trained Royal Etiquette in the 15-runner Betfair Novice Flat Amateur Riders’ Handicap

Hill said: “We’re all looking forward to it and I know Victoria is really keen to get going again as it’s quite a while since she rode at Newbury on July 2.

“I’ve never been to Ripon before personally and neither has the horse. I hope they don’t get too much rain.

“It’s not going to be an easy race for Victoria as there are quite a lot of runners and she is going to have to try and weave her way through. She’s more used to doing that on a bicycle than on horseback!”

Hill is not even thinking about victory, concentrating solely on bringing Pendleton through the experience safe and sound at this early stage of her training.

“It is another step up the ladder and the main thing is to try and keep her safe and give her another good experience.
We all want to win, of course, but we don’t want to run before we can walk and this horse is similar to Mighty Mambo in that he’s fairly exposed, but he should look after Victoria – he doesn’t go tearing off,” said Hill.

“Victoria has ridden him quite a lot at home, so she knows him well and fingers crossed everything goes well.”

I personally fancy ICE KONIG in the race at 7/1 but it wasn’t strong enough to be a tip
Good luck to Victoria though because the work she has put in over the last few months has been hard
