JOHNB’S nap was a non-runner on Sunday and his NB couldn’t land a win so it was two points lost.

    Timeform comments:

City Chic (5 out of 5 stars): Promising type. 8/1, seventh of 10 in maiden at Newmarket (7f, firm) on debut 44 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Stable having good spell. Likely to improve.
Race commentary: CITY CHIC’s debut form has worked out really well and she can become another winner to emerge from that contest. Gold Eliza and Canonbury head a group of interesting newcomers to monitor in what should prove an informative market.

Balayage (3 out of 5 stars): Lightly-raced maiden. Good fifth of 10 in handicap (9/1) at this C&D 75 days ago. Blinkers on first time.
Race commentary: ACQUITTAL was unlucky not to finish closer when runner-up at Lingfield last month, and representing an in-form yard, can gain her first success. Sur Empire is the type to bounce back returned to 6f, so is feared most.

I strongly agree with Kitkats Leicester selection Steventon Star in the 725 at Leicester. It has a MASSIVE chance providing it does not repeat its current habit of missing the break as it has done in its last few races. I have no idea what the female jockey Amy Ryan is like but looks like the daughter or wife of the trainer Kevin Ryan. I classify this as a 75% bet, very very keen on it winning tomorrow. Lets hope it breaks with the other runners :-)

  10. ANDREW DODD 3 years ago

John B I would appreciate your thoughts on Steventon Star in the 725 @ Leicester, your knowledge of horse racing is top drawer :-) before I go and have a good bet on it, thank you

    Carlisle 7:10 Lorimer’s Lot 10/1 Paddypower e/w

She’s from the Mark Walford yard the 4yo been successful twice at 5f on good to firm and good to soft ground. but those wins were as 2yo at Catterick 5f and last year as 4yo at Ripon 5f where it saw her rating from 77 tumble down to a low of 54 in last race 10 days ago at Catterick 5f soft when 2nd beaten a length by Eland Ally with Duran Fentiman in saddle,

The yard put the cheek pieces on in last 3 race which has saw her in the frame each race (form 322) and with that 2nd place rating up to 56 today with Duran Fentiman keeping the ride.

  24. stueyp 3 years ago

    Some I quite fancy today:

655L NAP Our Joy 5/1, well fancied lto and went off short price fav but failed to live up to expectations, this horse has a G1 Phoenix Stakes entry at the Curragh so if anywhere near up to running in that ought to be winning today.

555L NB Ticking Away 6/1, been running well in maidens over shorter and steps up in trip today for handicap debut, also has Listed race entry at Redcar later in year

710C Bosham 4/1, bolted in at Wolverhampton making it 2 from 2 on AW, slightly worried about todays soft ground but 7lb claimer negates 6lb penalty and runs off lower mark than at Wolverhampton, has entries 26th and 28th too so could be turned out quickly again.

City Chic contested a hot maiden on debut and it wasn’t a disgrace to finish 7th

2pm brighton Betty Blue very encouraging debut 4th, race won in a good time that day, 2nd has bolted up since..Sure to come on plenty for that..Simcock yard go with with 2yolds here (5 winners from 13 over last 5 years) Simcock/Sweeney combo have a winner and a 2nd from just the 2 previous runners at brighton (2nd not beat far) Betty Blue is out of a listed winner, who handled soft conditions, which bodes well for today, also has shown it handles very undulated tracks, as debut was on the turf track of lingfield. Timeform comments:

Ainslie (5 out of 5 stars): Improved when making a winning handicap debut in first-time cheekpieces at Leicester. Lost little caste in defeat when runner-up at Wolverhampton (9.5f) next time and he’s still relatively unexposed.
Race commentary: David Simcock boasts a fine strike rate here and his representative AINSLIE looks the one to be on. He has improved in handicaps with cheekpieces applied the last twice, and proved that give underfoot holds no terrors for him when striking at Leicester last month. Conversely, Rock Lobster laboured on an easy surface at Nottingham 4 starts back so Ayr of Elegance could be the one for the forecast.
